Them other Sami don't know how to act
I think it's special what's behind your back
So turn around and I'll grapple that.

So the other night, Noobking wanted to do double Samus. It's apparently his usual thing whenever he blazes at a smashfest.

He instantly picks blue team, which kinda tilts me because I'm way too used to playing green Samus, but he picks blue to be Andy(ThePrime). He gets the Andy tag to match.

Getting an idea, I decide to put myself in as Duck. Within the 30 seconds before the match, I restricted my play to the following flowchart:

Neutral state-Defensive: The Midwest Samus walk(walk walk walk wd back, repeat). Watch for approaches, mentally prepare to cc dsmash, or to standing utilt to punish approaches.

Neutral state-Aggressive: Wavedash variable distances, forward and backward, look for opportunities to double perfect wd into ftilt.

Approach: Double perfect wd into ftilt. Buffer cc during tilt animation.

Close Quarters: Keep at a distance with tilts, look for opportunities to wdback utilt, utilt in place, and buffer cc whenever possible.

Get hit: cc dsmash.

Edgeguard: utilt, bomb to utilt, sometimes walk off nair, punish on stage recovery with dsmash.

Recovery: Go for ledge every time. If too high, empty bombs are ok. If people come out to hit you, look to screw up their timing with a fastfall nair, otherwise, generally try to stay away, grab ledge. From ledge, look to ledge recover with ledgehop fair lc dsmash, or ledgehop fair lc up b if they shield. If it looks like they're baiting you, ledgestall a bit first.

Jeez, Duck. I stock tanked like a mother ****er and got plenty of gimps just from the buffering cc alone. I still don't agree with the overall style(though I love watching you wreck people), but I can see a lot of awesome in here.

Buffering CC is just so strong.

Concentrating 100% on spacing and keeping your cc in your pocket is pretty amazing.

That double perfect wd into ftilt gets people a lot. Shoutouts to IC's. It's something I can't hit consistently enough, so I'm going to work on that. It seems like an excellent option.

So what do you guys do outside of smash and these Samus haikus?
I'm a part-time freelance concept artist and I'm in school for 3d character modeling for animated films (and maybe video games too)

Buffering CC is just so strong.
I could have sworn that the true form of CCing only works when you're actually in the crouching animation, otherwise you're just DIing down. I think I saw Magus say that the actual act of crouching is what negates hitstun. So if you ftilt and buffer CC it doesn't help you if you get hit mid ftilt right? Not that that would be super common since ftilt is so fast.

iirc though

Yes, it's true that you are actually buffering DI down which is also buffering cc.
However, auto DI down into cc on first possible frame into dsmash is still a lot better than throwing human reaction time into getting hit out of a tilt, trying to crouch it and dsmash.

There are things outside of that?
This one works a ****ty job while trying to keep the world off her back. Just trying to get stable again.

I thought this too, but Taj told me otherwise and demonstrated it in front of me. I mean, he could be wrong, but I've tested it myself and can't see the difference between being at 0% and CCing something and being at 0% and buffering CC against the same something.

Well, I'm an undergrad student studying to become a biochemical engineer. Looking for work while I'm at it.

What's a "perfect wd"? Is it basically a maximum length WD?

Well, IIRC, that's actually fake crouch cancelling. Apparently, true CCing is only when you're actually crouching. If you try to CC during a move, you fake CC which essentially accomplishes the same results at low %'s. That's why, when you tested out both situations at 0%, you couldn't tell the difference. However, at higher %'s, the differences between the two types of CC's make themselves known. Generally, true CCing is more reliable and works at higher %'s. Of course, from the nature of the technique, fake CCing is more easily applied to a greater set of diverse instances.

Yes, two perfect wd's in a row. People are usually out of range in their comfort zone, and Duck just kinda pokes them with it. Works pretty well.

Also I tried to use pivot fsmash as much as possible. It was pretty good.
