I wonder if MLG has explored Round Robin templates verses the standard bracket system. These kinds of problems in the standard bracket system are almost nonexistent in a Round Robin system. But each has its pros and cons.

i think this goes for all players. The will to win? is the prize at the end of the tunnel big enough for players to say hey look i want that prize more then any other player. Now this will to win co- exists with luck and how the player feels that day. Now if the player has great luck that day, plus feels good and the will to win he will out beat a great player.

Doesn't random stages affect the turnout of a match? (ex) Ken's stage is yoshi island and pc's is FD.
