You also need the newest version of PW's SD loader code, 3.5.1 I THINK. And make sure that you reset your old music swap codes or else you'll be trying to replace songs that aren't there.
Huh? You lost me...I know nothing of any of that :3

You use textures? If so replace your current replacement code with this one.
And did you do any music swap before this? If so you need to reset that.

This is what I'm using to play regular Brawl but with codes on....the File Replacement code in this one was 1.3 . . . and now there's 3.5?

Just out of curiousity...how many other codes am I using are out of date?
Just that one. But you're actually using such an old version it's 4+ codes, now its only one.

You SHOULD be able to get rid off all the codes from:
"File Replacement v1.1:[Phantom Wings" through "SD Files (78 Lines)" and replace it with the ONE code I posted above AND get it to work with music.

I would save them in a spereate .txt file just in case I'm wrong and you need one of the misc. codes scrammbled throughout there.

What are tga files and must they be in a certain format as far as the file name goes?
TGAs are files that are used to store texture files, CSP files, etc.
And yes they do need to be named certain things depending on what you're trying to do with them (again textures, CSPs, etc.).

I was wondering if someone could give me the code for the latest 'Snapshot Loader' code for US Brawl?

Is this for CSPs? If so, you don't name them the same as textures. Textures have set numbers for every character, like 01 will always be red, 02 green 03 blue you get the point. But for CSPs they need to be numbered in the order they appear on the CSS. So I'm not sure what 05 is translated to on the CSS for Dedede but you can just boot up brawl and scroll with x and count original as 00 then 01, 02 etc.

bump, this is important guys
Whats the point of unlimited masterpiece time? Just get the WAD installer app for Homebrew then find a WAD for the game you want and you get a channel on your wii menu. Then you're not limited to the games in Brawl.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post, I meant to edit my first one.

I know about those numbers. I already have a FitDedede00.pcs, but I wanted the new texture to be the fifth color (or I guess sixth, however you look at it). But that first texture hack I got, there weren't any extra files.

I know the other file is used for transformations to keep the texture hack, but I've never seen a .tga file before. What is it there for?

Soulfly-Dedede_small.tga
Soulfly-Dedede_big.tga

In other words, what do these two need to be called?

Question:

How do I make my own custom character portraits for when I'm in the character selection screen deciding / trying to remember who was what? I have a good knowledge of Photoshop and have the program if it's necessary.

Also, where do you shove the targa file was it (?) in your SD card for it to register?

Thats EXACTLY what I just told you. They are for CSPs and they need to be numbered, sorry but I'm not going to say it all again.

To both of you: I suggest you go to the KittyCorp: MeowMix forums for a guide on CSPs. I'm not going to take the time to explain it here, it would be easier for both of us for you two to follow a guide.

So for playing foreign games, i.e. Japanese games, all I have to do is put the game disc in the Wii, go to Gecko OS, and put "Force NTSC" correct? Just making sure before I spend a lot of money on an Asian game that I can't even play.
Also, if I put "Force English language" rather than "Default," The game will be in English right? I mean the reading, the spoken words will obv still be Japanese.

I'm trying to get this texture hack to work

http://i40.tinypic.com/66yst1.gif

and made the following directory to house it in :

Private>Wii>APP> RSBE>pf>menu>strap pf>menu>controller

But it's not loading when I boot up Brawl? Anyone know why?
I think I have a really old SD Loader code and maybe I should upgrade...? Where's the thread that keeps the new codes like that up to date?

Wrong directory,

its E: private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/menu/strap----This is the right directory.

Urgh, normally I hate asking questions in these kind of topics, because the answer is so obvious.

I downloaded european brawl version from the thread, and it works fine.
I decided I wanted textures, so I downloaded them, although the codes weren't already in the codes for brawl+, I read the thing about snapshot hacking, and followed the guide, downloading the snapshot from the official thread.

However, even after loading the snapshot (from both wii or SD or both) it still doesn't work, it works if I use my normal file replacement code though (for vBrawl), but brawl+ is too big to have both activated.

tl;dr my texture hacks don't work with brawl+, if there's any alternative option please don't hesitate to tell.

I misunderstood. In any case, I just threw the files out, booted up Brawl, and it worked fine, so I don't care. Thanks for your help.

Okay, so I'm completely new to modding Brawl and hacking...so excuse me if I'm a noob...but I really need help with putting custom songs in Brawl.

I've heard that you can modify Brawl with just an SD Card without having to use the Homebrew channel on the Wii.

So last night, I downloaded Dantarion's Custom Song maker and I have successfully converted some songs to BRSTM and replaced them with certain Brawl songs on the CSM...and I believe they exported to the SD card.

After that, I took the SD card out of my computer and put it in the Wii. When I went to the appropriate stage and appropriate song, it was still the original song.

So that is what I did last night almost word-for-word. Is it absolutely necessary to download the Homebrew channel in order to do this? Is there anything I need to download or do to my SD card? If someone could explain what I am doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.

You need the homebrew channel because you need the SD loader code.

My only problem with the Homebrew channel is that I don't want Nintendo to void my warranty if the Wii ever breaks. Is there a way that I can ever delete it off of the Wii? And if I try downloading it, will it brick the Wii depending on what version I updated it to?

yes, you can just delete the homebrew channel if your wii breaks.

but homebrew channel can never brick your wii. If homebrew is installed and a problem occurs, it's just the wii.

You will be able to play most games, some newer games require a newer version of wii software and will give you the green screen. I know nothing about the force english language, I find it hard to believe it would make it english because I don't think that would be in the game to start with.

Sorry, I don't know much about playing non NTSC games on my wii.

All right. Hi again.

I've made a request in this topic several months ago - as since then there's been nearly a hundred news pages of posts! So I felt that, given the new developments in SSBB hacking, it might be worth a shot asking again.

The new moveset hacking possibilities have got me thinking about giving an old project of mine a second go. Suppose that I am able to alter Kirby's moveset to something completely different (assuming there is the possiblity of getting rid of his copying skill) - a code to make Kirby retain one specific hat through the entirety of a match would be nice. Whether the change is merely aesthetical or he shares that hat's B move is irrelevant, especially considering I can technically change the B move in either case to be whatever I want. It would be important that under no circumstances (including taunting and death) should Kirby lose the specified hat.

Thanks. Frankly I'm surprised the texture hackers haven't been bugging people to get codes like this.

I have a question. I have no idea how KB compensation works. If I increased the move's damage by X, how would I go about lowering the KBG and BKB so that it is the same KB? Is there a chart or something?

My friend and I have the exact same Codeset (the Official 5.0 RC1 Build) and the PAC files too.

Thing is, we always desynch. I know the usual problem. People having little differences in their codesets and stuffs...

But we don't. And it says that Textures ain't to blame. So, does Brawl+ really work on Wi-Fi?

Just use the 4.0 banner bomb exploit.
It worked on my 4.0, my friends 3.2, and I think it works on other versions too. And yes you can delete it.

you technically don't need balanced brawl or brawl+. But you do need a way to load brawl codes (be it gecko OS on homebrew or the no homebrew hack), and you need a gct in the codes folder of your sd card that has the file replacement code 3.5.1 in it, and you need a directory like:

private/wii/app/rsbe/pf/fighter/ and then all the character folders WITH correct names.

and when you put a hack in, for example, Wisp. You put it in jigglpuff's folder in fighter (her folder is called Purin), and you name it FitPurin.pac. No numbers like you would textures.

Your sd card can't be sdhc.

I'll get some guides and links up in a sec.
