This weekend's meet is from 11:30am -5:30pm Also xbox360's are welcome just as much as smash. I wouldn't mind some halo 3 or try playing some sf4. Plus Max's cousin is really, really good at halo 3 so if anyone does play that it would be a good opportunity to come down as well.

Click hereto go to the original thread. Only updated info from this page is the time frame so it's not absolutely necessary to post there. I wish I had mod powers :(

So yea all you guys should come down :D

PMS II was good, it was more like a meet. There weren't many people though.

PMS III will occur on Saturday 28th November 4pm - 9pm.

After talking to some people I'd like to propose we do a doubles tournament followed directly by an intrastate Brawl crew battle (Brisbane v Gold Coast) It'll be good preparation for the QLD v OoS crew battle possibly coming up.

I'm really scared. :dizzy:

I'm thinking about trying an alternate tourney format at future PMS meets. I've come up with a way we could run a tourney solely on money matches. Would anyone be keen to try such a ruleset at PMS IV? :ohwell:

Guys, everyone needs to slow down on the tournaments. Between Robina and Nambour we're having tournaments every weekend and it's over-extending our resources.

When people organise tournaments, they need to organise around other tournaments and try to space them out better, instead of going for the next available weekend.

It's little wonder Melee is doing better than Brawl right now in terms of attendance when everybody wants to hold tournaments every weekend. Slow down. Seriously.

What you guys are forgetting is that whilst it seems like a while between your own tournaments, it's only a week between the other's tournaments. So if you want your tournaments to be better, go for quality and not quantity. Advertise better, reach out to the public more with posters. No wonder Melbourne is so successful.

btw imma call mm's "prize fights" now XP
and there was no doubles at pms 2.. a reason why i didn't go =P

Lol I feel like I'm being shunned. If enuff people show I'm willing to have a few friendly tournies this sat if people feel the need to be competitive and practice for S.Q.U.A.T etc

Well Hotcats are usually the main event of the month so that should be the focus however its still good to fit these other events in as well.
As for melee getting more attendance I'm inclined to say its just because most of the regular brawlers play it as well as the melee only guys.

See, I never would have thought we'd become so motivated that we'd actually over-extend ourselves with tournaments in different locations.

HotCats needs to be the main tournament and all other tournaments (bar LanSmash) need to work around it. Before making any decision on running a tournament, you NEED to consult with other tournament directors, those being myself (LanSmash), Hotdog (HotCats) and now Cal (Nambour).

Really i think we should be only running 2 events a month otherwise it would be like 2 consecutive weekends at some point which is just too much.
The staple is Hotcats, the other one being a lansmash/pms or the sunny coast event depending on how it goes.
edit: yeah basically what vyse said i didn't see that =)
meh meh meh meh sall good

argh **** the uni, to hell with the uni :p but k fair enough. Well I'll be bringing a projector... that makes sunnycoast unique hehe. Well next month there won't be a sunnycoast event and I'm sure about January. Depends if I am in Sydney or not.

I can always make it bi-monthly or something if it gets too hectic. Perhaps alternate between the 3, Idk. I do know that after this weekend that future meets will be hosted by SNG (PC LAN at the same place) so I'm not entirely sure about future dates.

At the very least if 5 smashers arrive then cost of hall is covered.

Melee isn't even doing better anyway. Lol.

I dunno where you got that idea considering the last two tournaments for both games were PMS and that one at South Bank.

Melee is doing better, you can't judge from attendance at last two tournaments cuz alot of us have exams at the moment. I know for sure I would have been there if it weren't for the exams.

Melee has been doing better. At the Brawl hotcats we were getting a lot of 10 person tournaments. The one at South Brisbane was Brawl only and scraped 16 people thanks to the new guys. Were it not for those guys, it would have been another 12 person tournament. Neither of those two tournaments you mentioned had tournaments for both games so I'm not sure what you're trying to say there.

The last hotcats tournament for Melee had 20 people almost.

Brawl HotCats:
http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=7771924&postcount=43 - 9 people
http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=8061259&postcount=163 - 12 people
http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=8309521&postcount=394 - 10 people
http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=8701751&postcount=836 - 16 people

Melee HotCats:
http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=8190800&postcount=277 - 18 people
http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=8532306&postcount=589 - 19 people

PMS (which was a Melee tournament, but had lots of people playing both) was a bust because people are in Uni mode atm + People don't like the Gold Coast + Ryan sucks.

The point is, people are over extending themselves, hosting too many tournaments for too little return. Try hosting something bigger, make people anticipate it and want to go. Make them save money for it, make them tell their friends about it. Make up posters, do something epic.

Don't leave it to me, because I just twiddle my thumbs til the next LanSmash and claim glory by telling people what to do.

Don't rely on somebody and their mates to pull through for you Scott. He and his brother are bloody good at Brawl though, makes me wish he'd pick a hotcats to go to and actually go to it >_<
