This coming StreetGeek LAN, May 14th, OHPAC is holding the Adelaide leg of their national StreetFighter 4 comp in the console section at StreetGeek. The tournament itself will be run by EVAC personnel. Entry to the OHPAC tournament is $15, and entrants who attend (from 1pm Saturday onwards) just for the SF4 tourney pay only the OHPAC fee.

The prize pool and prize distribution is tentative, subject to final sign-off by the Admin Team. Also, if Frag isn't submitting an entry, we're not sure what to do with that $100 bounty. We're still working that bit out.

Judging: All entries that exceed a reasonable standard (determined by the admin team) will be screened at 10.08. Any entries not short-listed will be screened first, and the short-listed films will be screened at the end, and played twice over. Attendees will be asked to vote on the short-listed films. Voters will be asked to consider entertainment value, artistic value, viral potential, and publicity value to StreetGeek.

Conditions: A screening-resolution version of the video should be provided to the committee. The video must mention or promote StreetGeek in some way. The author retains copyright of their work, and licenses it unconditionally and nonexclusively to StreetGeek. By submitting an entry, the entrant warrants that he or she has the appropriate legal rights to comply with these conditions. Entrants are able to retract or update their entries at any time before the deadline. StreetGeek reserves the right to alter these conditions with no prior notice using stealth, subterfuge and ninjility.


Q&A:

Would 640x480 be considered high-res?

Whatever is the highest resolution you have is fine. This is the video that will be shown for voting, so the higher the quality the better.

Do we have to distribute the video via youtube etc. and if so does it's popularity or spread have any effect on the judging?

No, you do not have to publish the video anywhere. StreetGeek will post it on youtube etc after the comp if you have not already done so, but youtube hits will not directly be used as a judging criteria. Voters will be asked to consider entertainment value, and (potential) publicity value to StreetGeek.

without some measure of the spread of the video outside of SG the 'viral' part of 'viral video competition' is kind of irrelevant

It's a 'viral' video competition because we hope that all of the submissions will become viral video sensations and improve the awareness of StreetGeek.

Can anyone recommend some good video editing software? Up until now I've been using VirtualDubMod, but the GUI is a bit too simplistic and it doesn't do special effects. Windows Movie Maker is better, but it only lets me save in proprietry WMV format, not XVid or anything useful.

Other users have recommended Final Cut Pro for Mac OSX, Adobe Premier Pro for OSX & Windows, or Ulead VideoStudio for Windows. DrFrag posted this list of video editing software.

Our matches were very tense Nova, though I really did enjoy playing them. It was a relief playing someone at your level at a tourney after so long ^.^ (offline lol). Very mean snake, I was shaking at our last set. I hope they sorta warmed you up for tomorrow. Best of luck at boost (please stick with reasonable characters this time).

No_Fair should be legal under *certain conditions imo. But Brinstar can now be my new norfair <3

EDIT: I remember winning a match with falco in friendlies. Though I'm sure I did not win with him in tourney matches. Are you sure about that Nova?

Rofl. NOW I know why you said Whitey came second in Halo when he really shouldn't have.

You've got my friends Whitey and Chirpin confused. Chirpin is the bigger one that plays as Game and Watch and Whitey is the one with glasses that plays Marth. Chirpin got 3rd in FFA, not Whitey.

It's probably cause Chirpin used Whitey's tag in the last round because his name wasn't on that machine and him and Whitey use the same controller setup.

Hopefully we do 1v1 before I have to leave next time.

Edit: I was also thinking about bringing some SD cards with Balanced Brawl on them. It's really easy to use, you don't need to have the Homebrew channel or anything, and it works on any Wii. It's just like regular Brawl except without infinites and some characters are buffed and some nerfed. Which means any character can be good, not just a few of them.

Reckon i'll rock up to the next one as well. Was at Reloaded, and more recently Avcon. Had loads of fun playing competitively at each.

Any chance of some more info on this balanced brawl? Im rather curious.
