ITT PRESENTS:
TEST YOUR MIGHT V!

NOTICE: I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL TOURNAMENT ORGANIZER OF THE TEST YOUR MIGHT SERIES. I WAS INFORMED THE PREVIOUS TOURNAMENT ORGANIZER NO LONGER HAS AN INTEREST IN HOSTING TOURNAMENTS. SINCE I PERSONALLY ENJOYED THE SERIES THUS FAR I AM ATTEMPTING TO REVIVE IT.

I chose the date because there is no circuit event on the same day and it gives everyone enough time to prepare. I am hoping for at least 30 people to attend. If you have trouble with transportation, leave me a PM.

I'm hoping to turn this into a 5 tournament event and will hold some of (if there is any) extra money from venue fees for the end of the event and even possibly a small trophy

The Venue has held up to 200 in the past and we have no cap on people. It is in a massive plaza with plenty of food in walking distance and with concessions at a decent price within the store as well, so you'll be virtually set all day. TYM II had 44 Brawl singles entrants, 32 Brawl Doubles entrants and 20 Melee Singles entrants.

-There will be online registration for events, if you register online the venue fee is only $4 and if you don't it is $5. (Fee will be reduced to $4 if you sign up for ANY EVENT).

You can sign up at the Cold Fusion website. (That's the link, click it) and as long as your name is on any of those events on the tournament date you'll have your venue fee reduced. However if you can sign up for everything you'll be planning on entering in that'd be good so the estimate is more accurate. Also if you sign up and you decide not to enter, I'm not going to hunt you down or force you to enter.

NOTE: For the CFLC Registration you don't actually need to put in an e-mail address, it's just for if it somehow gets cancelled they would have e-mailed you to let you know, but we have this thread instead. So you can just put any fake e-mail address you want.

-Venue Waives for setups!

Those bringing their stuff can get a little cash for lending a hand to make the tournament run smoothly. On the CFLC site there is registration for bringing setups, if there's something I missed let me know. Waives are given on a first come first serve basis, so register early because I can only waive a total of $50. Also the waive will only be rewarded if what is brought is actually used and you remain for the duration of the entire tournament. (I will try to work with people if they really want to/need to go and we don't need the set up, I'll figure something out, just talk to me) The Waive system will work as so:

Wii with Brawl (Everything Unlocked obviously): $3

T.V. (15" or larger): $2 (I'll be liberal with size, if it's usable it's good in my book but you only get the money if we use it)

All of this is subject to change within the next week or so, also the registration may change to a different date so If the date changes you WILL HAVE to re-register. Keep checking back for changes.

Brawl Rules and Format:

* 3 Stock Double Elimination

* 8 minute timer

* Items are set to "off" and "none"

* Bring your own controller

* All matches prior to Winners' and Losers' Finals are best of 3. Winners', Losers', and Grand Finals are best of 5

* The Stage Strike system will be used and explained for the first match of all sets, then after procedure is loser stage pick, winner character choice, loser character choice.

* In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors

* Dave's Stupid Rule: No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.

* In team matches, the ports will be determined in a 1221 fashion; whoever wins the RPS will choose first, then the opposing team will get their ports, and then the teammate of the RPS winner will get the last port.

* If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage.

* Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned.

* Port slob picks: On a player's counterpick, that player may opt to redo the port selection process with that player or team picking their port first.

* Wiimotes and Classic Controller users should know to take the batteries out of their controllers after finishing a set; not only will this save battery life, but it prevents accidental intereference and delay for tournament matches.

* The Mages DQ rule: After a match has been called, if a player is two minutes late he will receive a warning. At 4 minutes late, he will be given a loss for the first game of the set. After six minutes, he will be given a loss of the entire set.

* If a game ends with Bowser doing his suicide klaw and it ends in sudden death, the sudden death will be ignored and that game will count as a win for Bowser.

*Standing Infinites are BANNED which include (but not limited to) Dedede's small-step chain grab. Dedede standard chain grab is fine.

* Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action.

* Stalling is banned. Any legal infinite chain grabs most end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling.

* I am NOT to be held liable for your horsing around, if someone is injured or there is some form of altercation I am not responsible for either party.

* Drugs and Alcohol are prohibited.

Additional Rules for Double's

* Life Stealing is allowed

* Set team attack to ON

* Sets best of 3 until final which is best of 5.

* Items off.

* Ties are broken by remaining lives, then %. If both criteria are tied, then the Sudden Death match will be played out.

* First stage is random from the Neutral stages listed below.

* Each player is allowed to reset the random stage once; this forces a new random stage to be picked.

* The loser of the first match will announce a new stage to play on for the next game. The winner will then be allowed to switch characters, followed by the loser. Apply the same logic for the third match (and fourth/fifth when applicable) if there is one. (Advanced Slob Picks)

* No stage may be used twice in a single set if the counter-picking player has already won on that stage, unless the opponent agrees to use the stage again. (Dave's Stupid Rule)

* Double Blind character pick can be called at anytime before the first game of a set starts, and only apply to the first game.

* Each person (or team) may choose one counter-pick stage to be disabled for the entire set at the START OF THE SET, after characters have been chosen but before the random stage has been picked.

* Controller Mods, Glitches (IC Freeze Glitch, Mewtwo Soul Stunner, etc), and tactics used to stall a match (wall-bombing, rising pound), are banned.

* For doubles: Team Attack will be ON, life stealing allowed.

Special Note:

The owners have had "issues" with brawl players in the past. The main concern is time. Therefore, If we want to do melee as well, I have to give people only 3 minutes between matches at most before I start calling for being disqualified. This means you have 3 minutes where you are free to go smoke or grab a quick drink or a quick bite to eat. After the three minutes if you aren't sitting down I'm going to do a 5 minute warning. After the 5 minute warning you will be disqualified.

I know this sounds really harsh and I'm predicting/hoping that I won't have to use this rule. The owner says that the longer the tournament takes, the more money he loses. There will be a break between brawl doubles and brawl singles for food etc. Obviously if only 20 people show up and they're all on time then this won't be an issue and you guys can play at a relaxed pace.

Also, the more setups people bring, the less you have to pay for venue AND the smoother the tournament will run. Obviously I have to enforce this rule hardcore if there's only 4 setups and 30 people. On the other hand if there's 15 setups the beginning of the tournament will go over 3 times as fast and there will be stations open for friendlies much sooner.

As far as turning this into a series, there will be no money left over from the venue fees. However, the store owners have several regular tournaments and they award points based upon placement in these tournaments.

Depending on what happens May 23rd, I'll help/come.
Oh man, if we could get OUGA or Springfield or MI or Dayton or any group like that to come it'd be so awesome.

Also Kiest, if you come I'm totally using your announcer voice for something. I swear you sound like a gameshow host or something when you talk.

I would say no need. The last Test our Might I was at we were only really using one side of the room.

I could be wrong though.

Depending on how many people show up we "may" need about 5 extra T.V.s the main thing is, even though there are a lot of T.V.s I prefer to only set up every other one. This way there's enough room for people to sit down during doubles. But ya, I don't think T.V.s are going to be a problem, the main problem will be wiis. I'm thinking twist ties for the wiis to prevent theft or something...

I'll have to see if SFG can go when it's closer to the date. Looks promising, the stage list definitely needs some updating though. Glad to see it back, too bad Joe doesn't want to deal with this anymore. :(

I'd like to go to this tournament hopefully my parents could take me there or i could get a ride possibly if my parents allow it.
However 4-5 dollars for venue fee and 10-20 dollars for brawl making 14-25 dollars altogether is too much for me >.< seeing that I don't have a job.

Good ****. I hope you guys decide to head over here. It'd be nice to finally meet you after seeing a lot of your arguments on the Tactical Discussion, lol.

That'd be awesome. I know you were considering TYM 4. Attendance for TYM 4 was rather low due to a circuit event taking place on the same day. I'm pretty sure that if WNY shows up we should be able to pull 30 people. At least.

I will softmod anyone's Wii who wants it done, I assum by this time 4.0 will be exploited so I will be doing it for Wii 4.0s as well by that time. If not, I will post again about it. Also, like last time, I will have a Brawl+ set up for anyone who wants to try it before/after the tourney is done, if I do not enter doubles it is likely it will be running during that again.

Looking forward to this, a whole month to prepare sounds nice... dunno how I'll manage though with finals the following week of this! X_X

Oh yeah, any particular reason Joe doesn't want to do these anymore? If not, I assume it was just because he's busy, right? Just wanted to ask.

I'm unsure as to why nojoes quit. I was informed at Beegs' last tournament that he didn't intend to start this back up.
