Hello. I might not be maining ganondorf, but in every smash game he's been my number one "for fun" character so I guess I maybe sort of belong here too, if you'll have me. =D

I seek penance, fellow Ganoners. Years ago, I took pride in being a Ganon main in Brawl. Unfortunately, I drifted away from the game in the recent years, and thus fell out of the mighty king's influence. Come 2014, Smash 4 comes out, I unlock the king... and he feels awkward. Uncomfortable. My bond hath been shattered.

What do?

Ganondorf like any respectable evil overlord demands your patience. The forces of light will hinder you repeatedly, but true evil does not get discouraged.

Follow the example of Ganon and undermine your opposition from the ground up. Maintain your composure as you sweep your foes off their feet with an armored boot to the shins. Wary enemies will attempt to defend themselves, and you can reward their disrespect by grabbing them and slamming them into the ground, like the worms they are.

They may...take flight...as they discover the true extent of your overwhelming power, and this is when they will realize the error of their ways, challenging the dark overlord. Be merciless in your pursuit towards them and show them that there is no escape from the King of Evil when he's got you where he wants. Thus, is when you bring the thunder and banish the poor fools to the depths of hell. Do not be afraid to show the weak no forgiveness by considering the option of personally escorting them there, cementing your unopposed victory.

tl;dr, D-tilt people in midrange. Use Wizkick, aerial Flame Choke, and standing grabs wisely when approaching. And be aggressive when edgeguarding. Note that the Ganoncide on the last stock counts as Ganondorf's victory, should you consider it.

Also worth noting:

Jab is slightly faster
F-tilt hits HARD
F-air is less laggy
D-air does not SH autocancel and doesn't kill onstage as well
Flame Choke is techable, but does more damage
N-air and D-smash both do more damage
Edge mechanics prevent you from being edgehogged.
Edge steal -> B-air if timed right can kill people at 80%.

Perhaps I merely needed to give the Lord of Darkness some time. I have once again been reenlightened by his power.

And that's enough overdramatic mellifluence for now.

The Lord of Darkness has again showed me the enlightenment of the triforce of power. The triforce of Power, along with the Monado will allow me to take over all smashers and I can blot out their life with a blade I despise.

...Lozjam, are you me? I think you're secretly me. I too weild the Monado alongside the Triforce of Power.
I think the Dark Lord wants to work with Shulk. He merely expresses that through us. Who wouldn't want Shulk? The Lord most likely relates to him a lot. Bent on revenge, has the power to express it, can murder anything in sight to get what he wants. Also the dynamic between the Bionis and the Mechonis is surprisingly simalar to the dynamic between Hyrule and Gerudo valley. Our master probably realizes that, and that is why we both want to do it.

Perhaps. The Dark Lord does not deal in mere coincidence, after all. Everything is according to plan.

And now that I've become reaccustomed to him, I'm addicted to Ganon.

To the Ganon player who I just played for like 2 hours (Duhakal-something; the game kept cutting off the name), if you see this very GGs and give me your FC.

By the way, it really sucks that Flame Choke is techable. Biggest nerf ever...

I used Ganon in Brawl as a secondary. He looks really fun to play in SSB4, based on some youtube videos. I'll pick him up again when the Wii U version launches 11/21.
Ganon looks faster but similar to Brawl. Do you guys think he'll be viable this time?

I fought a Ganondorf last night on For Glory for about two hours. He crushed me early in the night and then it went about 50/50 later on. He. Got. Buff. Hard. I took like 3 hits and i was already at 70%. I could only reliably counter him with Wii Fit Trainer because i could keep getting hits in with Sun Salutation and also heal off it. It was cool he stayed for that long. Really helped me realize this game isn't Brawl and that characters aren't bad in this one.

I think that Ganondorf might have been me. Not sure. I remember fighting a Wii Fit Trainer, but I didn't think it was for quite that long.

Did your name start with a Z and have a period in it somewhere? I don't remember it exactly but it was something like ZUL.G

Hello All

Have been a long time Ganon lover. Was SO happy when saw him announced (leaked) for smash4.

I have read the above posts and I agree. Dair on ground is nowhere near as good now, but I expected them to take out that AC. He feels really good to me in this game. Ftilt Dtilt are awesome. his Uair can still whip people behind him/drag down for offstage gimp (unlike falcons uair now). techable flamechoke is sad news too.

MY biggest complaint. is his grab range. u would think they would add a bit of range this time around to what IMO is one of the WORST grabs.

Welcome to your doom, Mr. DaftFunk.

I teched your side b while playing online

rip your viability LOL
Yep, no fun. To be honest, teching itself is fine by me. But I'm pretty sure neutral tech > some kinda quick move like jab = punishable-on-hit-side-b

Grounded SideB still leaves you at a frame advantage which lets you combo into Jab/D-tilt or Grab.

The real kicker is aerial SideB being unsafe on hit.

I'd have to go back to confirm, but this one Sheik I played was able to neutral tech and jab quicker than I could respond, with the exception of shielding, of course.

...So it's been four years since I've visited this site.

And I suppose not much has changed, has it?

I mean, besides me. Still a lot of the same users. Still the same Ganons.

...None of the Thunderstorming, but I suppose you have to roll with the punches.

Anyways, I'm happy to be back.

The Ganon forums are the best. We enjoy ourselves here.

And welcome back, Salty. I vaguely remember you, even if you don't remember me in my past life my old identity.
