Come on guys critique please <_>
your not getting critiqued because your name is justin bieber LMFAO

EDIT: just watched a bit of game 1

-its hard to critique when he doesn't really know the basics of snake >.< (sorry if that came off as rude)
-he should stop shielding and spot dodging out of fear
-it seems like he just does whatever move he feels like, regardless if it fits the situation
-he didn't grenade counter, wave bounce, and he didn't use very much of his ground game
-tell him to sliding shield to create space (running in to shield). from there he can grab marth out of alot of moves when otherwise a standing shield wouldn't

thats all i got, tell him to watch ally or razer or HRNUT or fatal (any top snake) and just learn basic mechanics of snake play

So I recorded a bunch of matches from a recent tourney DNA #7 (First serious tourney I've being to since March). And recorded most of my singles match. Here's my set vs Etecoon, will upload more later. Any constructive advices would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I'm going to john for both of us before you watch, that TV was ****, everything was blue and black which made it soooo hard to see.

yeah, the TV turned everything into a rainbow and it wasn't centered properly so you couldn't see the blast zone bubbles, haven't watched the vids yet but it was sloppy as **** from what I remember from both of us

Your styles changed a lot since we played Yume or maybe it's just because it's not snake dittos or against falco I'm looking at.

Aside from some of the recovery shenanigans that happened in the first match it looks pretty solid on that end, but you tend to take risks on that where usually if you are going to take a risk like that it's best only once or twice a set, because if it gets predicted, you're super *****.

Try and be a little bit more careful with your forward tilt, as sometimes you tossed out the second hit for no reason, and especially on a shield that's facing you. Stop, grab, retreat, any of these things will probably help you out.

Dair out of shield while it can be effective if it's shielded you're kind of screwed. So try different things like just pulling a grenade and walking away ready to grab, or pivot grab retreating, you're not always going to be able to get a good punish just for shielding. And there is always just good old ftilt out of shield.

I personally like to use more c4 and more aggressively but it's always better to mix it up, for the first two matches you used them defensively only, and at high percentages c4 eventually can't save you anymore so just put it on the stage and use it for pressure/defense.

Overall, I'd really say sometimes just take more time to think about what you're doing instead of playing reaction/auto-pilot, but still good stuff buddy, aside from the obvious tv john errors.

Thanks for the advices man, taking a long break from competitive brawling did change my play style, but hopefully for the better in the long run.

It is very unsafe and will get you punished if it doesn't hit. But if you catch your opponent off guard (who expect a ledge hop dair anyways) the last hit will hit, and it will kill your opponent VERY early if they get sent the way you came from.

I do this once in a blue moon, and would suggest it if your opponent is rly close to you or you predict he will rush at you.

I've only seen the first video, and you play the mu really well, so there's only a few things that I noticed:

1. don't ever jump into DDD
2. If you're falling with DDD, it may be better for you to jump away from him instead of pulling a nade and falling next to him.
3.Whenever he's above you, try to stay in front of him. :O

That's about all I noticed.

Anyone mind critiquing my Snake now?

Scatt you need to downthrow more with snake its one of his best tools, you should also full hop nade throw falco so the nade gose over the lazers and gets to falco and it gives you time to approach him.Oh and just to throw it out there snake kills falco at like 87%+ if you dtilit him and the way to hit with that is a good read from downthrow.

This was my first time ever fighting a good TL (don't know my matchups below B tier lol)

I'll critique you, i am watching the vids. I know the Matchup a lot since I practice/play in tourneys and Team up in doubles with a Toon Link so that I know the MU against TL.

I will edit this post.

edit: use Dthrow at least if you don't get the grab or the Ftilt, TL is near of you so that you can keep on the close pressure.

preserve your shield in this MU, Powershield but not all the time since good TLs can bait that. Practice catching items it helps alot in this matchup.

and I noticed you used a lot of Uptilt, like most MUs you should preseve that move more than anything else since hitting TL with that kill move is not easy

Yes, and also try to don't get him by the boomerang in high % since good TL can use that chance to get the killmove with an aerial or a Upsmash. and don't get hit by TL dsmash near the edge, you will probably lose the stock or get combo'ed offstage.

Yeah, Tink's Dsmash has this weird knockback when you have low damage that sends you flying horizontal-down. So it's very possible for you to lose a stock from it (But its not likely unless you recover unsafely).

I'm always on the defensive against Toon Link at mid range because its so easy for him to follow up from a Zair, Bomb or Boomerang. Powershielding is very helpful in this matchup but you have to be aware of the arsenal flying around.

Thanks everyone for all the input. So the Usmash and aerials are his primary kill moves? I know Fsmash is easy to DI out of and downsmash is easy to avoid. I got this now thanks a lot [:

Alright lets get some critiques done.

the ones vs diddy are a bit older.. i just realized i don't have many 1v1s uploaded, i do a lot of teams, thanks
Game 1:

You are playing wayyyyy to recklessly. Good DKs will read and punish you hard for it. It seems that when you get an idea in your head you stick with it for too long. Like Nade pull then rolling 3 times in a roll, just rolling 3 times in a roll, dacus 3 times in a roll, always landing with a fast fallen aerial, etc. Learn to mix it up, seems like your grenade game is not very fluent either, you first used them a lil and then just abandoned them. always be incorprating grenades into your gameplay, they will help alot in stopping approaches, trapping, and forcing mistakes.

Stop dairing when you get it, its the worst move to do, its terrible. When you are send horizontal air dodge is your quickest option to get out of hitstun. And if you need to survive vertically bair/uair and fastfall. You dont need to momentum cancel every move, only lethal ones.

Stop rolling so much seriously, esp against a DK rolling behind him is sooooo bad.

DK has a huge hurtbox and hardly any disjoints, meaning punish with grab more, you should always be punishing air dodge landing with grab/pivot grabs.

Also Dthrow more, its snake's best throw, DK is fairly easy to techchase too.

You always seem to let him get back on the stage whenever he's recovering by rolling towards the center of the stage. Don't, stay there, leave explosives around, and punish his landing, Snake is amazing at Edgeguarding DK.

More of a DK specific tip, nair and dair works well against him because of his big size. If he upbs unto the stage and doesnt cancel dair is the best punisher.

Game 2:

Basically same as game 1.

dair bad, attacking while landing/recovering all the time bad, mix it up bro.

still giving him too much space. dont always drop a nade and roll away. much better to fight him when he's near the ledge. the nade doesnt explode for 3 seconds, theres plenty of time for you to edgeguard him. Rolling away is letting ROB camp which is baddd.

SH Nair sucks, FH Nair is much better as all 4 kicks goes off, learn to do it.

Didn't watch the old vids.

Yeah your snake def have alot of room for improvement. I say watch vids of top Snakes like Ally, Razer, Fatal, and learn from them. Your biggest problem is that you keep your offensive and your nade game seperate, need to combine them to make a very fluid and effective playstyle.

Learn all of Snake's methods of landing/recovering is crucial too, make sure you look up B-reversal. There are many other tricks you can do to make it that much easier to land.

Stop relying so much on reckless offense, learn to play safer, grab/pivot grab more, learn to read your opponent, and predict their moves and punishing them.

And lastly stop rolling so much.
I would appreciate it if someone will critique my Snake? Thanks.

Interesting strategy platform camping diddy. Dunno how I feel about it, diddy should be able to get around nades fairly easy because of his quickness and can juggle us decently esp if he's using nanners to help.

Your opponent has a VERY noticible rolling habit, dash attack/dacus is a great way to punish roll aways, diddy's roll isn't long/quick enough to avoid it. pivot grabbing is a very safe way to punish rolling towards you, since you can react to it and if he doesnt roll just pull a nade or w/e. At kill percents read that roll and utilt.

You get hit by his side-b alot, uptilt can beat it if spaced right and predicted well, a safe option is just to roll away and space against that.

I feel like sometimes you backed him against the ledge and had the opportunity to rack up some damage. But instead rolled away and gave up your vantage position, take advantage of it instead.

Last thing, seems like you take alot of damage trying to land, so work on using more options to land. If you are high in the sky nikita drop. You need to fast fall more too, C4 drop combined with fast fall b-reverse nade works really well, you can condition your opponent and later in the match c4 drop to detonate.

Overall I say you know this matchup well and will def beat a good amount of run of the mill diddys. Staying on the ground more would def help, don't be scared of the nanners, ps them and punish, as long as you mix up your options from shield/powershielding the nanners you'll be fine.
