Hello,

My name is Collin Finocchiaro (a.k.a. Fino) and I'm an Olimar main from Kansas. I placed 33rd at Apex 2010, 25th at MLG Columbus, and am currently sponsored by vVv gaming.

Questions:
1. I am currently running a circuit between Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri (http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=277121). I am also running an event a couple weeks from now and hope to turn it into a monthly (http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=280939). I have ran a couple local tournaments co-hosted a few events in the past (ancient 08-09 stuff), so I'm just now starting to get back into TO'ing events. The events I did in the past ran well - though they were fairly small scale (15-20).

2. If there's anything I know about Brawl, it's Olimar. I know the BBR already has Hilt; however, we differ on quite a few technical aspects of Olimar. After witnessing the events surrounding Olimar w/ Brood's placing at Apex, it's fairly evident how little the community knows about the character (including a variety of BBR members, as shown in the attempt at a character discussion made around that time). I also take a deep interest in the mindset / mentality of playing brawl on a competitive level and love discussing the topic.

3. I attend tournaments AT LEAST once/twice a month, but I make more if there are events in the area. For instance: last week I attended a regional (SLASTv2), this week I am going to another regional (HD2), the week after I'm running my own event (TAS), and the week after that is MLG:DC. I am very familiar with the local and regional scene, and am somewhat familiar with the national scene.

4. Unfortunately the Olimar tournament result thread (http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=242829) cleared out a lot of clutter, but I was able tournaments from my vVv application. In the link there is my placing at Apex and Supercon and here is the rest I have:

6. Stage lists / world wide rule-sets and competitive format - why they choose certain rules and how those rules effect competition in positive or negative ways.

7. Ummm, mostly olimar stuff I guess. I just searched threads I started and hoped for the best. Most of it is somewhat old I suppose, but just goes to show I've been in the development of Olimar's metagame from the very beginning. If you really wish I can look through posts and find other things, but I hope this gives a general feel for my contribution.

I have a few names like: Bartolon - S1-14.
But I prefer that people call me Bart instead .
I am the best Ness main in Europe.. eh that's it?

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?
The tournaments are usually run here by a few people like Utto,Marc and Gregs is mostly a co-host.
Sometimes there are seperate tourneysthat are hosted by someone else though. Our tourneys are mostly seeded well and the tourney runs smooth.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.
I know alot about many characters, I 've mained random for a really long time, and I still help people with Matchup experience by going other characters then my mains. I specialize in Ness but I am also trying to pick up Diddy. I prefer researching into a proper mindset so people keep coming to tourneys to get better and the community keeps growing.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?
We don't have that many tourneys over here so I attend every tourney that I can come to (money hehe)
I am familliar with the Dutch scene, I post on the dutch boards occasionally and I am always up-to-date.
I also know about the other scenes in Europe and have played many people through my smash carreer, I know about the good players and the upcoming players so I am pretty knowledgeable on that subject.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
I've been to 5-6 tourneys in total, my best placings are 2 times 5th with ness only in singles (80 people~) and in teams my best placing is 2nd.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?
Zekrom

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
Completing every matchup list from every character, I think that will help alot of players.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I would bring alot of summary's on what to do and what not to do. And I like discussing about matchups and rules.

I go by many names, but I mostly go by MrEh. Feel free to pronounce it however you want. I currently live in Honolulu, Hawaii. Aside from running away from killer insects, hunting wild boar, and scaring tourists for fun, we always have enough time to play Brawl. Our local TO found me abandoned on an outlying island, feeding on coconuts and fish. (Think "Cast Away", only with no Wilson.) Immediately sensing my talent, he took me in and brought me back to society. (And by "society", I mean a bunch of grass shacks on the beach.) Ever since that day way back in 08', I've been a regular tournament goer and an active member of the Hawaii smash community. (If you can call a bunch of barbarians wearing grass skirts and dancing on the beach a "community".)

I am neither a host or a co-host. While I do help run nearly every Brawl tournament in the Oahu area, I don't do enough for me to consider myself a co-host. Our normal tournaments average about 20 people nowadays, while our bigger events at conventions usually get about 50. Hawaii is an extremely small and friendly region, so all the players know each other very well. That makes our tournaments a good time for all of the local players to catch up with one another and make small talk. There's usually plenty of time for friendlies, and there's always room and stations set up for other games. From card games, to Pokemon, to Street Fighter; we've covered a lot at our tournaments.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I am very knowledgeable about Bowser, and I'm considered to be one of the best Bowser players in the nation. (Too bad there's only like 5 Bowser players in the country, so it's not that impressive. lol) I do understand the cast of Brawl fairly well, but most of my matchup knowledge is from a Bowser perspective versus the rest of the cast. I've mained Bowser since the release of the game, and I've put much effort into researching and understanding what he's capable of. I can provide the BBR a solid insight on Bowser and how he works in various matchups and as a whole.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I go to nearly every Brawl tournament on the island of Oahu, so I'm definitely familiar with my local scene. I'm also familiar with my regional scene since Hawaii is funnily enough, considered to be it's own region. Since I don't travel all that often, I'm not familiar with the national scene. I just pick up what I can from watching tournament videos or playing OoS players when they come to visit. Playing players like Phantom X and DEHF was a great experience for me and everyone else in Hawaii.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

A deeper look at the crappier characters of the game. Even though they don't really matter in the current metagame, their placement on tier lists often causes people to get upset.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

My opinion about Bowser in response to the BBR discussion.
Very old and outdated thread with my findings about Bowser's grab release options.
Thread with my findings about Jigglypuff's grab release options.
Thread with my findings about Sonic's grab release options.
Me attempting to figure out Jigglypuff's hitboxes.

In short, I like researching useless things that no one really asked for or needed. I also can talk for ages about Bowser, should the need arise.

I began as a novice gamer by the gamertag of Spin-Dash. My name is Brandon; but my current tag is Kuraudo. Let's get it out of the way. Weaboo? Why not. The importance of my username doesn't matter though. I'm writing this with the hopes that I make a good enough impression. I understand that we already have the likes of Espy in the BBR, his knowledge and contributions to the Sonic boards and metagame in general are rather nice. We have many players of this character that are making waves, and me getting into the BBR upon my knowledge of Sonic may not exactly help. But I'm here as an honest man with an honest perspective on this game and the development I can see it taking.

I like to think I share a non-biased perspective towards characters and would like to see some changes done within the BBR. I hope I qualify.

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

Rarely so I will run smashfests within my town of Spruce Grove. Edmonton is our primary source of Smash within Alberta (as members Alphicans and T-block already take part in running); the last time I hosted an event here, aptly called the Spruce Grove Zone series, we ran a small side tournament for Singles. The winner got the collective prize money from our $2 entrance fee as well as a free ticket to any cinemax. OH yeah, it was that classy. That being said, in the past and even now I still show great interest in hosting legitimate tournaments, both on a Regional and even National level. That includes renting out a venue and gathering hype from around the country, maybe even the attention of American players, of which I have had interested when I made mention of a tournament.

Once I have the money and time to invest, I have every intention of running a Canadian tournament hopefully on the scale of the likes of Genesis. I understand that these are only hopes and are unfounded, especially when compared to the likes of others in the back room, even others that aren't who run tournaments more often. But I can promise you that my organizational skills are impressive, and should I run tournaments/plan them, things will go without many hitches (no tournament is perfect. any tournament can still be awesome though.)

I can hold a tournament that is both fun and unique. I also fully support the official ruleset, as well as the controversial lack of a ledge grab limit (though a suggestion, still within that ruleset.) I would love to enforce this within my community and region as I am capable of hosting more tournaments.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

As you may have already guessed from the beginning of this application, I am well adversed with the use and mechanics of Sonic (Espy's got this one covered hahah.) Though Sonic is a rarity here in Canada, I am one of (if not the only one) that is power ranked amongst the country with the character. I specialize in the use of Sonic, although I am not ignorant to the rest of the cast. I like to observe and play with multiple characters. In the past I have mained Meta Knight, King Dedede, and Ike for the use of tournaments. As of late however, I have learnt to play Mario and though not a professional with him by any means, I can supply insight on the character and perspectives on how he or other characters fair up against others.

Mainly though, I would be best at explaining the mechanics of Sonic. I also like to encourage others and to point out what could be a good or bad mindset. A good pep talk can go a long ways.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I do my best to attend every tournament that comes up. We have a tournament every month (not this month as a lot of Alberta will be travelling to BC for a regional tournament.) I am very familiar with my local scene. West Coast Canada's regional scene is smaller when compared to the United States, but on the flipside that makes it easier to keep track of our players and how our scene is doing. Clouderz is still wrecking BC with Meta Knight, but before that Bundtcake, Firefly and Breez were often running the show there. Here, it's often a triple threat for the top three between SuPeRbOoM, Alphicans, and KillL0ck. We're small, but competition is tight. My knowledge on the nation as a whole is limited though, and I can admit that my ignorance of the East Coast (though not underestimation) is to blame as I hang around Alberta and British Columbia's threads more.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

At the top of my game I am consistently a top 8 performer, and I have placed 5th in the past at a local monthly, 7th at a regional hosted last year, ADAT2; in that same tournament I placed 2nd place with MurdaMoe for Doubles. I am a solid Doubles partner as well. I have nowhere to go but up from here.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Reshiram has the cooler Shiny color. It's such a tough call... Is there a Mewtwo option? No? Oh well. Reshiram!

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

The key thing I would like to see the BBR look into is how we as a whole look at the character roster, and how we develop our tier list. More than ever I feel we need to look at the rest of the world and how their tier lists are formed, and take those results to invest extra time into the characters that we (who primarily are within Canada and the United States as I've seen) in the BBR seem to overlook or even underestimate. I also believe, expanding on this, that we need to look at character match-ups more thoroughly and less focus on tournament results. Take the strengths and weaknesses of characters when the best of these characters go against one another, and determine the mtach-ups from there. Much discussion goes on in each character board frequently now on these matters, but in further detail, once it's all said and done I believe that we need to look at EVERYONE. Who has the most favorable match-ups? Does Fox get slammed ridiculously hard just because of the likes of Pikachu or Sheik? If so, why is he High Tier in Japan, a nation that has shown us that their list and the rankings may not be as unfounded as some may believe. Which characters need to rely on counterpick stages/secondaries to get far? More factors need to be considered in creating more accurate tier lists.

This includes implimenting everything the ruleset implies, including the no LGL mindset that is encouraged. We need to contrast, compare, relate, and decide as we come to a more accurate conclusion upon the rankings of our characters. I would like to hopefully bring a non-biased front to this when such tier list discussions arise. And if this goes down in the back room already? Well, how would I know? I haven't gotten in yet. The more the merrier, right?

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

Unfortunately, anything that I would have liked to have contributed, others have covered. Upon new subjects and topics though I'd be more than happy to chip in with a well-respected say. I feel that I would bring an optimistic (though not unrealistic) approach to this game, filled with encouragement and wisdom upon my own observations. Canada's West Coast needs more representation within the BBR, and I would be glad to help increase those numbers. I wouldn't be coming into this as a seasoned expert who could be considered the elite of the elite. I am a skilled player, but there is more to being a collective group in the BBR than just that. It's backing it up with knowledge and respect for others in the community to be a prime example. A good leading example.

--

Whether this was incoherent or not (goodness I'm tired hahah,) I thank you for your time and consideration for reading this. Also, outside of this application, I'm a lot more casual. Trolling? Nope. But I will offer the same insight and contribute to the BBR to the best of my capabilities. ...plus, I make pretty graphics if any of the boards need anything done. Banners, avis, you name it. Is this a bribe? Who knows.

Thank you and good night. Whether I get accepted/rejected, it was worth a shot.

Introduction:
Oh hey guys, here I am again. I'm Xonar on these boards, but I actually prefer people to call me Ramses instead, which is my real life name. I’ve played Dota, Warcraft3, Wolfteam, Rakion, Gunbound and World of Warcraft, HoN all competetively, and I follow metagames of things like Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon. Overall I have a lot of interest in high level play of said games, and I think that I have a pretty good overall understanding of them. I'd love to join the BackRoom as I feel like I'm one of most knowledgable players on Smashboards, besides the fact that I'm active and always in for intellectual debate.

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?
I am afraid that I am not a host or co-host. I do know the basic stuff, how TIO works, how to seed and stuff, but I never hosted anything. The tournaments run in my area are in my opinion really well run and often finish relatively on time. We do the normal thing, teams then singles. Holland actually hosts the best tournaments out of all of Europe, and I'm really grateful for that.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.
What I know most about? I know most about the characters and their options/tricks. I am a regular visitor on Smashboards and lurk every character board, keep up with all the updates and I'm even in 2 character back rooms (Falco and Zero Suit Samus), which I check at least daily. I read every guide available to me, even if it's not a character I play, I just like to know options and more things about the characters in the game. That said, I do experiment with using different characters a lot and I dare say that I'm at least decent with a large part of the cast.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?
I pretty much attend every tournament possible. Lately I've been rather disconnected from the scene because of real life events, but I am now back on track and hope to return to visitting as many tournaments as possible. I am really familiar with my local scene, there's pretty much nobody who doesn't know me around here. Same counts for the European scene, I know everyone mentionable and more than that.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
Oh, I don't dare link old results if you want a list, but I'd have to if you ask me. There aren't a lot of tournaments in Holland you see, and before my break/hiatus I was doing pretty bad. My latest result can be found here though:

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?
Zekrom any time. I play Falco, what did you expect? Besides, Zekrom is way cooler to pronounce.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
Knowledge of all characters and their potential. I feel like some characters like Sheik are severely overlooked.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
I wrote an (uncompleted) writeup of all the characters tiers S-A on the Dutch boards a while ago, it was like 2000 words. I don't mind doing large writeups and I love to debate. I have a strong and probably somewhat abstract opinion on most matters in terms of the characters, but I love to debate to prove my right or, if I'm wrong, to learn new stuff.
I've managed the MU rediscussion for the Falco's for a while, which all went smooth. Besides that, I have a few threads of interest I created:

Anyways, I know a lot about the game and my characters, I'm in 2 Brooms and I occasionally visit every character board, besides that I could give a view on European metagame and the like.
I occasionally help out Falco's with questions and inform a lot of people of things they never knew before while I'm at that. I also introduce discoveries to the Falco Back Room every once in a while, less so for the ZSS, but there's also a clear difference in activity between the two.

I might as well try this.

I go by YOSH in the Smash world. I've been playing Smash since the original on the 64, but I didn't get into serious tournament play until about the 3rd year of Melee. I live in the middle of Arkansas and the Smash scene is sadly not the greatest, so even though I adored the game ever since the original, there was practically no one to play against, so I didn't even know tournaments and such existed for it. I'm a Yoshi main (have been since the original game). I used to play all the characters in the 64 version, and then my 11-year-old mind wondered which character was the best, so I went through one player with all the characters and I got the highest score with Yoshi, so for the past 11 years, I've been a Yoshi main. In hindsight, not the best way to pick your character, but I've grown to love the way Yoshi moves and play so much, that he's by far my best character in the game regardless of how good/bad he is.

I'm 22 and have a bachelor's degree in physics, and (as stated earlier) I live in the middle of Arkansas in Little Rock. I'm a friendly guy who adores competition and meeting new people. I've been on the SWF for a couple years now, but I actually haven't been that active until recently due to school and life. I used to get on about once every two weeks or so when I had free time when I first joined, but after I graduated college, I got a job where I get to sit at a computer all day. Needless to say, it can get pretty boring being in one place for 8 hours staring at a screen, so I've started pulling up the SWF every day to pass the time and keep up-to-date on things. Because of this, I'm very much an active member now. Now for the questions:

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

=============

Since I live in Arkansas, the Smash scene is fairly small. I have hosted both Melee and Brawl tournaments in the past in Conway and Little Rock. I usually space the tournaments out because (honestly) I usually win them, and people don't like to show up and just throw money away, so giving longer breaks in between tournaments gets more people to show up when the tournaments do actually happen. Other than IRL tournaments, I used to host online tournaments on AiB on Fridays or Saturdays, but since I've stopped online play, I haven't hosted one in about 8 months on there.

The way I typically run IRL tournaments is either $5 or $10 entry fee. I've never had so many people that I had to do pools, so I typically seed the bracket so that people that normally play against each other don't have to face off against friends in the earlier rounds. The venue that I used to get in college was one of the lecture hall rooms with a built-in projector. The space was large enough to accommodate everyone, and since I didn't have to pay anything to get the room, that kept a venue fee out of the equation. Tournaments are usually run on Friday evenings or on Saturday afternoons. What I do with the entry fee, is I take two dollars out of each person's entry fee and I order enough pizza for everyone in the tournament (everyone is aware of this beforehand, so I'm not pulling a surprise trick out of nowhere with their money). The remaining 3 (or 8) dollars goes into the pot, and because of the small number of people, I typically only pay the top three places in a typical 70-20-10 split. I also get drinks for everyone, so everyone who comes gets a free meal and a drink for just $2.

I've found that more people started showing up once I did this, and if they don't win any money in the bracket, they still get food and the chance to play other people. I'm currently working with a new gaming store that has opened up to get more Smash players out, and hopefully that will start to take shape with new locations and new people.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

============

When Brawl first came out (due to practically no one locally who played it), I actually specialized in the Boss Battles mode. I managed to no-damage every character on Intense mode, and that's basically where I first started to make a name for myself in Brawl. All the characters are on youtube and also on my profile page on AiB.

Because of the lack of people around, I am very much a person who plays by reading my opponent because not every character is played, so I have to in order to beat characters I haven't played much before. Over the years, I've grown to be able to predict what people are going to do out of certain things, and I punish accordingly based off my reads. With some of my matches, you can see that sometimes I'll throw out a forward-smash or an up-smash seemingly randomly when my opponent isn't that close to me, but that's because my brain's constantly trying to predict where my opponent will be, and sometimes I guess wrong (can't be perfect afterall). I definitely specialize in figuring out how to beat people (not necessarily the character they're playing) rather than relying on a character MU to win it for me. Everyone knows as well as I that Yoshi has some bad match-ups, but no match-up is completely unwinnable (that's a word I swear), and if you can figure out your opponent's play style, then your chances for winning increase greatly and can get a lot of extra damage in where normally you wouldn't be able to. Along the same lines, you have to keep yourself from being easy to read, so I consciously work to keep my play style as varied and difficult to figure out as possible.

I definitely know Yoshi the best of any character in the game just due to my 11 years' experience of playing him. Because of my Boss Battles though, I can generally hold my own with most other characters just because I had to learn how to play them in order to no-damage the mode. My next best is probably Lucario just because I like the way he controls and I like him as a character, but I would never switch to Lucario in a tournament. If I get counterpicked character-wise, then I should know how to overcome it, and once I figure out my opponent's play style, it's anyone's game.

=============

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

=============

I try to attend at least one tournament every month. I'd love to do one every week, but due to my location, the bigger tournaments are always about a 7-hour drive or more away, and just because of gas money, I can't feasibly do more than about once a month. I do make every tournament that I know about in the state, and since Brawl came out, I've won every Arkansas tournament to date earning me the top rank in Arkansas (not saying much honestly, but it's still nice to have). I typically drive to the Hobo tournaments in Houston for the competition that I crave.

I've been going to Hobo whenever I can since August of 2009. My first big tournament was Genesis I in California. Before that tournament, I was content just winning local tournaments, but after it, I realized how much I wanted the fierce competition, and I decided that I was willing to spend the money to get it if I had to. Aside from Houston and Antioch, CA, the only other tournament scene I've been to that was out of state was Wichita, KS for No Koast v2. I'm actively trying to get down to New Orleans for their Nom tournaments, but so far, the timing just hasn't worked out.

As far as the local scene, I'm extremely familiar with everyone, and they all know that I'm the guy that they have to beat if they wanna win any tournaments. Because of where I normally travel, I'm extremely familiar with the Texas Smash scene, the Louisiana players, and the Kansas brawlers as well as individuals from all over the nation. When I was at Genesis, I got to meet a LOT of top-ranked players that I probably would have never seen or at least not seen for a long time, so I'm at least familiar with basically everyone.

=============

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

=============

As I've said, with local tournaments, I've won all of them. Not all of them are archived online, but I'll list some of them below:

http://allisbrawl.com/ttournament.aspx?id=5475
http://allisbrawl.com/ttournament.aspx?id=9736
http://allisbrawl.com/ttournament.aspx?id=10585

I typically place about the middle whenever I go to Hobo. Where I really shine is their low-tier events where I've placed top 5 every time (most notably at WHobo 2 where I got 5th after losing to San and then Ally who placed 1st and 2nd respectively). Links to some past Hobos can be found below:

http://allisbrawl.com/ttournament.aspx?id=7388
http://allisbrawl.com/ttournament.aspx?id=8536
http://allisbrawl.com/ttournament.aspx?id=5806

I managed to place 17th out of 105 at No Koast v2, and that's listed below:

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=253350

As a funny thing, I did manage to win the AnthroCon 2010 Brawl tournament in Pittsburgh, PA (out of 64 players), but who can count a con as a serious tournament =P

If you take my average placing in tournaments combined, I'd say I place in the top half of the tournament most of the time, and if it's a local tournament, I'm basically guaranteed 2nd if not 1st.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

=============

Reshiram all the way. How can you not pick a legendary with a crotch spire?

=============

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

=============

Most of what I'd like to see has already been discussed. One thing that I think would be interesting is to have a tier list for online play. If you've played online before, the slight lag changes things more than you would think. Certain characters excel in slight lag while other really good characters *coughIceClimberscough* tend to sag a bit. It seems like it'd be something fun to do just to see how the tier list would change just because it's online.

One of the most interesting posts I've seen in a long time on this site was GimpyFish's thoughts on each character. What he wrote in that post was very well-said, and it'd be interesting to hear each of the BBR members' thoughts on each character. It seems that an overwhelming majority of the smash community will see a new tier list for example and then start raging along the lines of, "Why is x-character that low!?! X-character isn't that bad!" And with a detailed comprehension of each BBR members' thoughts on characters, other smashers could read them and get a better understanding on why the tier-list is the way it is, and why x-character really is that good/bad.

=============

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

=============

As stated earlier, I'm very much a theorist when it comes to Smash, and also I said that I haven't really been that active until recently, so my contributions are recent as well. I've been mainly helping the Yoshi character MU threads by offering my theories on positioning, spacing, priority, special situations, reads, etc... to fully cover each MU. The current threads are listed below:

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=236197
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=229049
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=229050
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=225913

As I said in question 2, I'm very much a thinking/reading player, and so I consider a bunch of theories and situations before I'll make a claim or offer helpful ideas. What I can bring to the backroom first off is simply the fact that I main a low-tier character. You think about the game a lot differently when your character has a lot of bad match-ups. Another thing is because of my location, I can definitely speak out for smash players who don't have the luxury of living in say Southern California, and can be a voice for things they can do to get more involved in the Smash community. I'm also very open to debate (especially if something said that I don't agree with), but I'm also willing to change my opinion if evidence is presented. I will also debate on issues that I already agree with by playing devil's advocate so to speak in order to look from as many angles possible (my mind already thinks that way with my play style with reads and theories).

I guess that does it for my application; guess we'll see how it goes.

Hello, my name is Luis, known and Padô on SWF.
I moderated the brazilian forums for 1 year and a half, I headed all the Brazilian BackRoom projects including the Brazilian Tier List v1.0 and I'm responsible for almost all general game play guides we got there. I've been active on the competitive scene since 2006, at least on Brazil, and I just LOVE all Smash games. There's a still ongoing 'Multiple-Hit SDI guide' there that I plan to translate and post here. I'm known there as 'Xeon ~ Padô' but that's whatever.

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

Well, I hosted all the big tournaments with some friends here in Brazil/São Paulo, like AISmash with 150 players (the biggest brazilian torunament EVER) and GeminiWar (1st Brazilian tournament LiveStreamed and the biggest double tournament ever). I could say I helped in some tournaments on Rio de Janeiro, but not compared
On those big tournaments or nationals we got some sponsors to hold on the prizes, venue and promotions. And usually on this Nationals we make a 0$Venuefee and 0$EntryFee for EVERYONE, and the prizes vary with the number of entrants (160+ 1st Place: LCD TV 40', 2nd Place: Wii, 3rd Place DSi, 5th Many small prizes)
On smaller 'caliber' tournaments it's not necessary to call the sponsor we just make the usually $$ pot prizes. Depending on the schedule we usually build up a tournament with 1 or 2 side-event(Brawl+/- or Pokemon Puzzle League or which are Fee Free if you koined the Brawl/Melee

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes?

I'm like Mario on MarioTennis, all around. But I really focused on knowing my characters frame data and priority and nowadays I've studying A LOT MINDSET. How to get over patterns, knowing your opponents bad habits, correcting your bad habits, reading... I also got a lot of info on DI and SDI (I got a project about the second one on the Brazilian Forums), and I could EASILY discuss on any character boards matchups, except for Link/CF and Bowser which I don't know ANYTHING lol.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I attended to all tournaments in São Paulo since 2008. And also went for some OoS tournaments in Rio de Janeiro. So I'm pretty active.
The national tournaments are held in São Paulo and I hosted them so... Yeah... I attended to all of them :)

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

Well, I think I'm doing good, If not... I'm trying my best... The links are on the brazilian forums, and maybe some are here also but there are so many and I would spend a life time posting all of them here so I'm posting the biggest/recent ones.

http://forum.1upsmash.com/topic/8080915/1/
AISMASH (150 Entrants)
5th
All Wario

http://forum.1upsmash.com/topic/8213318/1/
Anime Friends (xxx Entrants - Anime Convention)
A lot of placings... 3th(2 times) 2th 4th...
As you know I'm also known as "Xeon ~ Padô" there so you might see some results posted as Xeon, I changed the nickname since I got more active here.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Hard to tell, because I don't know any of those LOL.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I think we need some crucial guides the affect drastically the games like: "How to SDI those moves"; IIRC correctly DMG said something about Wario's Dair: "Good players will SDI it fast, others wont" And this made me think... Well, I'm freading those forums to become a good player and only the good ones are able SDI hard moves but they are still SDIable and WHY THE HELL our SDI guide is incomplete or even not started?
I think we need some mindset reading related to bad habits, bait & punishing, getting over patterns and specific moves and stuff, those topic would give the new players and the ascending players an EXCELENT base on the HIGHER level play.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room

Those:

http://forum.1upsmash.com/topic/8173873/1/

Needs translation and it's almost done, but that's a piece of cake for me. This is also a community based project I could EASILY open one here and discuss with everyone.

Also, the Wario Matchup Thread:

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=249340

Still gathering all discussion info and building up the pictures.

Hey, im sure some of you looking at this application know me already but i'm dabuz, olimar main from NY and most likely the second best American olimar, trained by wifi...but mastered offline :D Bit of a perfectionist here

one of SWFs most colorful posters :3

1:No, not a tournament host, i prefer to just enter , there are enough tourneys in my region and they are run well enough that i don't need to be hosting

2: I am very knowledgeable about everything in brawl, but my most knowledgeable aspects of brawl are: olimar, shiek, kirby, samus, large knowledge of pretty much every stage, and i like to study how each character can overcome tools others have that are thought to make some MUs very hard, along with studying how players react to mindgames irl and how their irl mindset, personality, and mentality come into play during a match, i also dabble in the art of how using lots of random wasteful attacks can confuse players immensely

3: As of the past couple months, i've become a monthly/ biweekly tournament attendee, i know my local and regional scene very well, and i am known here, on a national level, i know only some things and a portion of the players but i'm pretty well known nationally

4: Ranked third on the NY PR

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=208594

with the exception my most recent tourney, i have been placing at minimum top 3 in tourney singles exclusively over the past 6 months beating very good players like ninjalink, zucco, will, shadow (when he played) and normally only lose to top players like anti and ADHD, my doubles placing vary greatly because i normally only enter with a top player or if someone offers to pay my spot on the doubles team

6: I would like to see the BBR work most on advancement of the metagame because a lot of players ignore certain aspects of their character and there is still a good amount of information about brawl (physics, ATs, ect.) that players still don't know or apply, also, i would like to see the community test out mid tier character tourneys a bit

7: olimar boards are generally stagnated when it comes to real discussion and i normally post in small bouts of really good information but i'll try to pull up bigger posts/ more important posts

Hello, I am Nicole, and I will not make any stupid internet troll jokes that not enough of you seem to be fond of. I am the best female player (as though that is difficult  ) and I am considered to be one of the best Peach players in the country. I am also (modestly) a pretty good doubles partner, even against the best.

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

I have helped make pools and brackets a few times, but I have never been responsible for running a tournament. I don't really care to have that much responsibility, and I feel that tournaments can generally run more efficiently when the tournament host is more focused on running the tournament and less focused on playing their matches (which would make me an ineffective host). I attend quite a few tournaments, none of them are incredibly unique or anything, whether I am in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, or even MW-E, they all seem about the same. We typically do pools in the MW, I know that's not as common on the coasts.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

Obviously, for anyone who knows me, they'll know that I specialize almost exclusively in Peach. However, that isn't to say that I don't know anything about other characters in the game, rather, I play the game because I enjoy it, and the character I most enjoy using is Peach. I am also proficient with Diddy and Zero Suit Samus, although I would never use them in tournament, because I am a character purist, concerned only with placing using my main.
I know alot about matchups, not just ones that involve my own character(s). Matchups interest me alot, particularly how characters with a disadvantaged matchup can use their tools to overcome that disadvantage. I enjoy talking about matchups a great deal, and I almost always have something to contribute. I often think about what characters can do what to other characters in certain situations - many characters have options that they can use against some members, but not everyone, in the cast. Little known facts and opportunities can make an unwinnable matchup manageable. Simply understanding the weaknesses and strengths of characters can make a big difference, as can playing the matchup properly (which not everyone is aware of how to do, but can be taught through experience or tutoring).

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I attend 1-3 tournaments a month, sometimes more, sometimes less. I am extremely familiar with my local scene, as I play with everyone in St. Louis once a week, and even hang out with them outside of smash (gasp!) We have recently grown quite a bit, and I've tried to help those new players who ask for it, or show potential. I am always excited to have new players who are interested in becoming competitive.
Regionally, the MW-West has a Kansas/Iowa/Missouri Circuit going on right now, and we are all very familiar and friendly with one another although we don't get to play as often because of distance. I recently went to a MW-East tournament, which was a great experience as well, and I will probably be travelling out that way more often.
I haven't been to that many national tournaments, but I have been to MLG Columbus and APEX. Those were both great experiences, and I had alot of fun meeting and playing with some of the best. I hope to attend more nationals in the future, as I am not that familiar with them yet.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

I used to place rather well at tournaments, but I have recently been choking at them and doing poorly, even though I feel that I have improved as a player. However, my doubles results are getting better and better, so hopefully singles will follow suit as well. My state does not have power rankings, but I am sure I would be ranked in at least the top 4 if we did.

7th out of 57 Iowa-Joker's Monthly#14 11/14/09
25th out of 104 (NO KOAST v2) 10/24/09
9th out of 60 (Hot Dickings) 1/30/10
9th out of 34, Joker's Monthly
5th out of 30 At a Cool Cats Approach to Competitive Brawl - April 24 2010
9th out of 35 at SLAST: Smells like a Smash Tournament, June 2010 (2nd in doubles, teaming with Zeton)
33rd of 117 (School is in Session 3)9/11/10
(3rd in doubles, teaming with Coney)
9th of 54 at HD Remix, 10/2/10 (3rd in doubles, teaming with Zeton)

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Whichever one is the black one, though they both look pretty decent.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I would lke the BBR to make a set stagelist. Currently, the Midwest has one stagelist, and the coasts have another, and I would like to see that change.I know that is asking alot, especially with MLG coming in and ignoring alot of the BBR's requests. However, I think it's important to have national consistency in stagelists - it helps boost out of region tournament attendance and helps us become a more united community. I would personally prefer the East Coast's more conservative list, but what is most important is testing stages and seeing if they actually are fit for competitive, NOT RANDOM, tournament play and results.
I'd also like the BBR to look into a couple adjustments to some rules. I'm concerned with ledgegrab limits, Dave's stupid rule, and the threat of planking (and how real that threat really is). I won't say too much about these rules here, but I do think they're important parts of the competitive community that are often ignored, but affect tournaments more than expected.
More could be said about doubles as well, vastly ignored by the BBR and by most players for judging how good someone is. However, doubles pays out money, and since there's really no question that I'm better at doubles than singles, so for the improvement of the community and for my own selfish desires, I think it would be cool if the BBR released a doubles tier list. This is a minor concern in comparison to the other two things I've listed, though.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
For the Peach boards, I made an in-depth matchup thread, meant to be contributed to by all members of the boards who felt they knew a particular matchup well, and could convey their knowledge of that matchup to other Peach players. Unfortunately, people were not all that willing to contribute.
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=270263

I am also contributing quite a bit to the AIB character rankings thread, describing Peach's matchups and why I feel her ratios are what I have listed. You can see my debating skill shining here!
http://allisbrawl.com/forum/topic.aspx?id=159850

I have also greatly contributed to the "Princess Peach and the MK matchup" thread, explaining why Peach does not have an unwinnable matchup, and sharing alot of my knowledge about that matchup with the other Peaches, some of which have improved against MK since I posted it.
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=282062&page=3

Yes, all my major contributions are about my character...

I would also be contributing DAT AZZ!

Questions:

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

No, but if this successes, I'm going to do a big "10-games-competition" as my project work in school - including all three Smash-games.
Unfortunately, Sweden hasn't a big Brawl-scene, but a huge Melee-scene on the other hand. But there are two big tournaments every year where I live, so yeah, much Melee, but not so much Brawl.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

My main is R.O.B., so I know a lot of very deep information about him, from MUs to advanced techniques. A side note: I've mained R.O.B. since the game came out, meaning no other mains after I saw him for the first time. I also love Brawl more than Melee and SSB64 combines, and Melee is my second favourite game. Another thing I'm very interested and experienced about are the competitive aspect of Brawl. All about tournaments stages, rules, CPs and so on. I've also done 3 Tier Lists, one a game (but I'm most interested about Brawl of course)! I'm a very experienced player in Brawl, even if Swedish smashers detest it. So my strongest points are R.O.B., tournament rules and the Tier List discussions.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

Well, if I know there is a Brawl tournament, then I'm going to do everything to attend it. But unfortunately, like I said before, there are none Brawl tournaments here in Sweden, only Melee, so I attend two big events of Melee tournaments each year. I don't count Wi-Fi tournaments as "real tournaments", but that's just me.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

Well, I don't have any unfortunately, but just in case; you can see my Wi-Fi (I know, not much to boast about, but hey, better than nothing) tournaments I've attended so far here: http://allisbrawl.com/profile/ccst.ai Take it with a grain of salt.
But I hate boasting (I prefer hearing that I'm good from people instead of me saying it), but I'm considered one of the best players from Sweden and the best R.O.B. mainer from Europe (of what I've heard - one of them being Armada and Chiiiiiiiii to list a few). I have no comments on that though.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Uh, I see Pokémon a little uncompetitive (with all the luck and that), but because I like black more than white (not the games, I mean in general), I choose Zekrom.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

Well, I would especially see you work with the Stage List more and the Tier List (which you do very well), but the most important things are very detailed information about every character (especially hitboxes and frame data). But work on inviting more people from Europe, Australia and Japan, but also make it more varied with other characters than just Meta Knight.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

Here are an example (I have many more on other sites):

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=271182&page=14

As you see, I would bring you very detailed information about MUs, but most of all, balance Brawl out by changing some of the tournaments rules, stages/CPs, and of course, helping you out with the Tier List (my biggest passion).

I hope I can be in the BBR, it would make it so much easier for me (my opinions can actually mean something here) and hopefully for you. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Thank you! ([^^]
With kindest regards // ccst.

If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

-I don't host tournaments. I just go to them and win alot of $

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I know much about Meta Knight/Snake/King DDD since i mained those characters before.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I attend tournaments often. I'm ranked #1 in New York so i WOULD know my local scene well. I also know who's good and who's not in the region. People also say im a top 5 MK main in the nation :)

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

My lowest placement since 2009 was 9th at Apex otherwise i am consistent with top 3.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Whichever one gets me into the BBR

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I would like to help with the tier-list a bit.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

The tournaments in our area are generally clean, we get things done and run through them fairly well. We dont really have anything outside the norm though.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I've basically spent all of my smash career focusing on snake, and I'm fairly confident in most of the high tier matchups, but there are some other ones I feel I could still learn from. Thought processes and mindsets are important, because I dont necessarily fight the character so much as I fight the "player". Figuring out player habits and how everyone thinks/works is how I try to play the game and I find it the most interesting part of playing.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I attend every tourney in my own state, I'm PR'd within it 2nd and I love my community, no homo. They're the reason I still play this game. I haven't been able to travel outside my region, but I've been to quite a few places within the midwest and feel like I know plenty of the players around the midwest as well.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

I've basically placed 2nd or won 95% of the tourneys in my state, and I've done fairly well out of state generally losing to the better players, although like some people I have my moments of failure :/ I've managed to win singles and doubles twice at iowa tourneys where some better players from the midwest were there, but I cant find the results. I even won a dubs tourney with a ganon as my partner over there....lol. I've placed 7th each time i've been to IL tourneys where great out of state players were at and I only lost to names generally. like hunger, arty, shugo, and a few others. At my only regional I placed 9th out of around 100 ppl who entered iirc, link here http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=253350&highlight=no+koast+v2 but its kinda old..

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

zekrom, of course

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

Well, I feel like alot of the views on stages/characters have been really...silly lately and if I cant change things from the outside better get in there myself to see what I can help with. Mainly competitive aspects of the game in general overall. I feel like this community as a whole with the way we do things and act is almost a turn off to people and we aren't really the best around, and i'm hoping to help change views and attitudes to better our community as a whole

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I contribute to any matchup thread in the snake boards or thread about him generally, because I feel like he's been slipping alot lately and I've been trying to help that out. I cant lie when I say that there have been times where I found things so ridiculous I couldnt' even respond without trolling, the recent stage lists are an abomination (imo) but I guess without being in the BBR to see why they do these things and how I can contribute I'll never know, which is why i'm keen on getting in. I'm more of a person who likes to pick on the negatives on the things because I feel like in any situation thats what needs to be called out and worked upon, instead of stating whats already there, generally just talking about matchups, characters, and stages and what not. People like me help spark discussion where it needs to be, with the faults of things. Thats basically it, yep.

olimar, yoshi, G&W, kirby, pika are the chars i probly know the most about, but i know a lot of maybe all the cast

The only players that have kicked me out of tourney are Marcbri, Joannett88 and Leon, but I've also beat all of them in tourney sets. I've also beat other good players like Calzorz, Mr.R, Rydle...

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
I think the BBR should try to know more about both the european and the japanese metagame
7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I hosted a lot of tournaments at my house at usually get about 20 players nothing big. I helped out with a lot of ChiboSempai's DSO tournaments and also helped with APEX 2010, Pound 4, and COT4. My tournaments that I run are fast and good and people usually enjoy them. They are unique because I have a small house but try my best to make the 10-20 people who come out worth there stay.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I know a lot about Wolf and Falco(recently a lot about falco from the help of choice, dehf, and kismet) and I helped out with a lot of Wolf's MUs for awhile and have a lot of knowledge on that character. I also know A LOT about Meta Knight since I've been using him since the game came out so I know a lot about his MU's, and his little bit of flaws and his brokenness.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I attend about 2 tournaments a month, sometimes more, sometimes less. I'm really really familiar with my local scene and regional scene. I also know a lot about the WC and South since I'm really tight with a lot of players from both of those regions, and I like to look at there results.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

I usually excell in doubles but when I'm on my game I've beaten players such as Jash, Zucco, Keitaro, Snakeee, Seibrik, Chibo, Squall, Kingtoon, King Beef, elev8, and others. I've also gotten into every national bracket besides APEX 2010(hella hard pool) and did fairly well in them.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Zekrom, because he looked hella bad *** and Reshiram looks hella weird haha.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

Metaknight, LGL, Stalling/Scrooging.

Besides those, nothing specific, I just want to use my knowledge and help out the community because the current BBR has been failing.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in
the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I don't have any specific posts, a lot of the Wolf MU's I helped write, and I'm continuing to contribute to the Falco boards. Mainly, I'm hella lazy so I don't try and post a lot of help unless I HAVE to, and if added to the BBR, it would be one of the have-to's I would help with.

Thanks!

I'd like to have another shot at being in the BBR. Maybe I wasn't mature enough back then.. or I didn't realize that other people had numerous other viewpoints that I had never seen before, but I know I can handle this now and have gotten much better at debating. I've thought this alot over earlier today.

1) Our tournaments are ran with a standard 5-starter stagelist, and limited fairly counterpicks. Nothing unique about them, other than the fact that our region is probably one of the strongest out there.
2) I specialize in my character, obviously. I do know other things like matchups of other characters, and frame data as well. You will get a competitive player's standpoint from here.
3) Uh, I'd say I'm pretty good.
4) :)
5) Africa.
6) The timer, as well as Metaknight himself.
7) I've listed my contributions previously, and I'm sure people know what I'm capable of doing when I'm completely serious. I promise I won't flame people this time around if I'm accepted again :lick:

I will contribute the other side that the BBR is currently lacking--first-hand experiences of the guidelines being produced by the organization itself.

I can't really say much more, other than I hope I'm reevaluated without bitter feelings. The BBR needs change, and I want to be part of that change.

My name is Asdioh, I'm a Kirby/Fox player that has the misfortune of living in Indiana, some people on this website know me I guess. I'll fill this out just to see what happens.

Questions:

If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

I haven't hosted a tournament, but I'm willing to consider it sometime in the future. I first got into competitive smash because I happened to check my regional zone and found out that a tournament was being held literally down the street by a fellow some of you know named Dastrn. I went to this and have been going to tournaments every so often since then. I haven't co-hosted but I did help him out a bit, what with living so close by and all. I haven't done anything such as TIO management or anything though.
How tournaments in my area are run? Probably about the same as they are in the rest of the country: successfully, but almost always finishing late :bee:
They're unique in that I've heard that the midwest is the most pleasant tournament experience
though it could just be a rumor.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I know a bit about the game's physics, nothing too in-depth. I've read about different mindsets and thought processes, but again no expert. I know a few characters in and out for the most part, but I'm willing to say that I'm one of the more knowledgeable Kirby players out there. I've mained him since day one of Brawl, as well as in 64 and ugh Melee Kirby, though I wasn't "competitive" with those games back then.
I'm not sharing Kirby's secrets with you here though because he needs all the advantages he can get >=(
I picked up Fox well over a year ago, and I've used him in a couple tournaments with increasing confidence. I'm knowledgeable enough about him to feel comfortable using him in a lot of matchups, and I think picking him up was a huge asset for me as a player.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

Since my first tournament in August(?) 2008, I've been to around a dozen. I go to a tournament every couple months or so for hte most part, depending on how close they are and if I have anyone to carpool with, simply because I don't want to drive 2.5+ hours for tournaments by myself (as the midwest is so spread out that tournaments are always at LEAST that far away)

Local scene doesn't exist where I am lolol. The vast majority of midwest regulars are familiar with me though. I haven't been to a tournament outside the midwest, but some people outside the region will at least recognize my name I guess.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

Pretty inconsistent. I've at least made it out of pools in every tournament I've been to except one. I feel very confident that I have the ability to beat, or at least make nervous, anyone in this region except the national-level players, such as m.2k, j.udge, and l.ain (lol anti-namesearch)

Here's most of my tournament history: http://allisbrawl.com/history.aspx?id=14540&gid=0&page=1
Only inaccurate thing on there is that on 8/14/2010 I didn't defeat Renegade in pools, he forfeited singles.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Seriously? Legendaries went downhill after generation 2. Some of the ones in gen 3 were ok I guess, but 4th gen had the stupidest legendaries for the most part (lol I control time! lol I control space! lol I'm god!) and 5th gen just looks like a rehash of those.

:028:

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

It's hard to do, but I want to see less people
Metaknights
winning via timeouts
Rainbow Cruise..

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I might edit this later, nothing comes to mind and I have too many posts omg

Hello Brawl Back Room, I am Ori_bro a Michigan Marth and Ice Climber player. I am Michigan's Top Tournament Organizer and I have held the largest local Michigan tournament to date. I am here to submit my application to become a Brawl Backroom member and further advance the community in a strong, correct direction.

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

I am a tournament host in Michigan, and I help co-host every tournament in Michigan. My Tournaments are some of the largest tournaments in Michigan that aren’t part of a circuit. They will average between 30-40 people. I am the only host that has people from around the Midwest attend that isn’t part of a circuit event. I have had groups of people from Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, and Indiana attend some of my tournaments. My tournaments are unique because I run other events beside Brawl and Melee. I run Naruto and Street Fighter tournaments side events at all of my tournaments.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

The part of Brawl I enjoy the most is the multiplayer. Whether it is a free-for-all with items on high with friends, or a one on one tournament set, I enjoy the game. It is what makes the Smash series so unique. I am a Marth main, but I secondary the Ice Climbers. I am in the Marth boards often as well as the Ice Climber boards. What I would like to do most is looking into the proper mindset and thought processes because in the Michigan scene, we have a large amount of players who have attended only 1 or 2 tourneys and they haven’t made their impression in the scene yet. So I try to help guide them out of their comfort zone and open up to the community.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I am a frequent tournament attendee. I have only missed 1 Michigan tourney since March 2010. With my local scene I am very familiar with, everyone in Michigan knows the name “Ori_bro.” It isn’t because he always wins tournaments, its because I am so active in Michigan’s scene. I am at every tourney talking and interacting with players and establishing friendships. That’s what’s really important. On the regional scene and the National scene, I am not that active in. I have attended 1 Regional (The Showdown) and 1 National (MLG: Columbus). But I do intend on going out of state more this coming year.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available

Like I said I am not known for placing in the top, I usually will place at the 17th or 13th mark. My 4 most recent tournament placings...
8-14-10: West Bloomfield Smash Tournament 4; 17/37
7-10-10: Gameyard Showdown; 17/34
6-21-10: Michigan Local Tourney 2; 9/20
6-12/13-10: The Showdown!: 25/70

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Zekrom, it’s about time we had an electric dragon legendary.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I really see nothing at the moment that the Brawl Back Room needs to work on for the time being. We all know there is something that will need to be tweaked eventually.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

As a tournament host my ultimate goal is to host a great tourney that exceeded what attendees were expecting. If I was to be added into the Brawl backroom, I would be able to bring things the community is asking for when it comes to tournament rule sets. That is what I want, I want to help determine what will be used at most tournaments around the country and world.

Thank you Brawl Back Room for looking at my application.

Small Description of Self: My SWF name is Sinister Slush. And my Brawl tag is Slush. I'm from Texas of Kerrville which is about A 30 or so minute drive to San Antonio. I've played Smash since Super Smash Bros. and Thought about joining this forum when I found it in 2005 and going into competitive play for Melee, but didn't think i'd do good with Yoshi. So Brawl came out and finally decided to join here in 2009 and started competitive smash around July this year by training a few months on Wifi/offline getting some Yoshi techs down and MU's memorized.

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?
No I'm not a tournament host.
Edit 1: Forgot around July there was a Monthly thing to were we can bring our own Wii+SSBB at a library in SA not serious but about 15 or so people came and they just played for fun. I turned it into a Tournament put down basic rules, talked about striking and what neutrals/CP's were legal and (No laptop) made brackets with Paper and we had the top 5 get a picture, and was hanged on the wall for the library.
Currently 16 (17 april 5th) but in a year or two I do plan to host tournaments if the game is still popular by then. (Tournament success in Question 4.) I do nothing out of the ordinary except bring a Wii+Brawl, recently got A new Wii so adding hacks and plan to buy a TV so I can start bringing full setups. For tournaments being Unique? I dunno about that, it's fun and usually always 30+ people most of the time and I always have a blast meeting new people, so far worst tournament was Quakecon since we were jammed in a corner with SSF4 people and the first two Rounds was best match out of One. Which meant Lose two sets and you're out.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.
I specialize in Yoshi. I know how his moves work and what punishes you the most, what moves I should use to counter other characters, and I can do spacing a bit depending if I read the opponent good enough.
For what part of brawl do I know most about, I'm currently trying to beat the basics into my mind of MU's against Yoshi and trying to memorize every characters best and worst Neutrals/counterpicks (Doing this in Yoshi MU Discussion Group) And I also take Kill percentages into consideration since memorizing these on certain characters that're dangerous against Yoshi can help so you may know how to approach and what move or Grab you should use at that time to take the stock off him/her.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?
So far since July i've been to almost every tournament in texas. From Hylian's ALS in Austin (About 2 hour drive), To Quakecon in Dallas (6 hour drive from my house), San Antonio tournaments is a 30 or 50 minute drive, and then We hate grownups 3 in Kingsville tournament (About 2 and a half hour drive in Carpool). Next one I shall be going to is HOBO 28 and in November MLG Dallas.
For local scene if you mean town, noone plays SSBB in Kerrville that I know of, Region wise is SA since Kerrville is not far from it, and I know the SA scene alot. Going out to places like Austin Houston and Dallas is also getting me a bit familiar with the Nation scene.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?
I choose Zekrom. He may have a weakness to ground despite him being a Dragon type. But cause of Reshiram being a fire type, Stealth Rock will do I believe 25% to it which'll be painful, and a Weakness to Ground. So Ground Rock Dragon which is common in the Pokemon Metagame.
Also I always liked electric types next to Ghost and Ice.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
Not entirely sure, you guys seem to have alot of this stuff under control, but if I had to think, Probably Yoshi, the Tier List, and the amount of time since (Not even 100% sure on this) I "Think" the BBR has no Yoshi Mains in there. And for the 8 minute rule, even if your opponent isn't trying to time you out, In a few of my matches I get pretty close to 3 or 2 minutes while both of us are on our 2nd stock still above 140%, eventually we rush and either one of us wins. But I guess in most situations 8 minutes seems okay.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

Yoshi mains use mostly skype to communicate and discuss things with one and another. We also have a "Yoshi MU discussion" Z'zgashi is doing this with I believe 14 other Yoshi mains and I made another topic for us to talk about with Characters Best Neutrals and counterpicks (question 2) so us Yoshi's know what to Strike/Not Strike. With that aside now, I haven't really had walls of text on this forum yet since I just started getting the twist of things One month ago... Most of my discussions have taken place on skype with about 20 more Yoshi mains. (Some are too lazy to get skype or login)
I try and do as much as I can since I have loads of free time, and if I'm given something to do i'll be sure to learn about it as quickly as possible and get it done if it's interesting or fun.

Hey, I'm Doom from NJ. I'm a ranked player in my state, a fantastic commentator, and extremely good looking. :D

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

I am a certified host on AllisBrawl and part of the Tournament Director group on Smashboards. I've hosted six large local tournaments on my own and have recently become involved with the company King of the Couch, who I've been hosting for recently as well. I am also frequently a co-host of choice for reputable TOs like Alex Strife, Inui, and HEERO. I typically host in my house, and when hosting for KotC, it's at V-17 (the Viridian City 8 venue).

As far as special benefits I have to offer at my tournaments; I feel as if my tournaments create a great opportunity for the community to socially bond. At my house, a carpool or two will stay the night and get to spend a lot of time playing and hanging out with me. Since the tournaments are in the comfort of my own home, anyone can just sit down on the couch and have a nice conversation rather than being constantly talked over by a large and annoying crowd or struggle to find comfort standing up when all the chairs in the venue are taken. Though my tournaments aren't small, they aren't enormous regionals either.

After any tournament I host, whether it be at my house or a standard venue, it is customary to go out for dinner either after the tournament or the night before. Whether it's at 3 in the morning or 8 at night, when things finish, we get food. This also adds to the social atmosphere my tournaments typically offer, and gives everybody a chance to hang out without the game as a catalyst. It's always very fun and interesting to see just how different (in the best way possible) our community is outside of tournaments.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I know a LOT of useful and useless information about a large majority of the cast. I also have a very strong grasp on the game's physics engine and know why things happen when the average player is left in shock or confusion. I've started to delve into mindset-related topics as well in some of my AllisBrawl blogs. I'd say that I'm just a generally powerful source of knowledge when it comes to Brawl, whether it be frames, matchups, physics, anything.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

If there's a tournament in NJ/NY, there's a 99% chance that I'm going to be there. I attend events every weekend bar very few, and have done so for the past two years. I'm extremely familiar with the local scene and more than familiar with out-of-region affairs. I know who's good and who's where, and can probably tell you some information about a lot of players that isn't the most common knowledge around.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

Too sick and busy to link results, but since July 2009, I've been ranked in New Jersey. My rank by season has been 14th, 9th, 11th, 8th, 6th, then 7th (current). I generally place well in both singles and doubles, but I'm known for my inconsistency.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Reshiram, Zekrom is overrated and looks like a poorly-drawn Digimon.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I'd love to see the BBR take a more traditional fighting game approach to their character analysis. I feel as if the Smash community as a whole is inexperienced with fighters and severely undervalues things such as pokes and anti-airs, thus corrupting their views on certain things.

I'd also really like to see more BBR members that are reputable players rather than solely posters. I think this would solve a lot of the issues with stage discussion especially.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

Here are two of many quality matchup posts I wrote in the old Meta Knight matchup thread.

http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=8746741&postcount=2175

http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=10228408&postcount=2752

And my AllisBrawl blog, which contains various mindset-based writings:

http://allisbrawl.com/blog.aspx?id=9911

I feel that I would bring an intelligent and experienced view to the backroom that it currently is in need of. I'm a naturally argumentative person and I will debate anything I stand for to death (civilly, of course). I'm a quality poster with a lot of information and experience. It'd be a mistake not to add me. ;)

Well, hi, I'm The Milk Monster. I usually just go by Milk, but I saw a Milk playing with the twins a couple years ago, so, I kinda' just go by any sort of alteration of Milk. I live in Collinsville, Illinois, about 30 minutes north of St Louis, Missouri.

My name came from Marth's white costume, way before I got into competitive Smash, my friend made his tag MILK on Marth's white costume, and I stole it and it just kinda' stuck. Just kinda' happens. I've got some matches up at www.youtube.com/Leavant, but I just recently started drifting back into Brawl, and picking up my new main of Marth, so not much footage of him. I'm not the best player, without consistent practice and what not, but I feel I have a pretty good understanding of Brawl, frame data aside.

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

Well, back when I was in 7th grade, I decided to organize a little local tournament a block away from my house at a computer LAN store, and this was my first introduction to the Smash scene. Legan messaged me on AIM, and told me who he was and he was from STL. This got the entire STL Smash Crew down to this tourney. From there I began to get in contact with local game stores about hosting tourneys. They worked for a bit, then the venue didn't work out. I soon was asked to host a Brawl section of a SFIV tourney, and that attendance was closer, if not higher than 70.

As of lately, I haven't had much to do with Brawl, but I'm getting back into it now. The last tourney I hosted/co-hosted was the first Hot Dickings in St Louis, with Radium88, that raked in about 60 people for Brawl, another 40 ish for Melee the following Sunday, some big names like Lain, Kain, Affinity, Joker, and the like. After that tourney was my exit from the scene, and her and Teh Future took over. I'm looking to get back into the scene and host more tourneys with STL.

On the way I run them, friendlies are fine, but when it comes time for Pools/bracket, I am stern when I tell them to pause their matches and listen. I don't go on without everyone's attention. Questions are welcomed, but, not silly ones. Structure wise, our tourneys were ran like everyone elses. Though, Radium88 bakes a ton of stuff for all the players to munch on. That's a plus.

Something to differentiate my tourneys from others, is as a tournament organizer, I try my hardest, with the wellness of the tournament my main priority, to befriend my entrants, and keep in good spirits. Hold little conversations with them, hear a bit of why they are here, who they are, and so on and so forth. Tourneys can be tense, it helps to make a new friend and to crack a smile to ease them up a bit.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I took a long time deciding what character I wanted to stick with, so I pretty much got a taste for everyone, have a general idea of how everyone works, and the like. I understand the mechanics pretty well, and can play alright, just gotta' learn to adjust under pressure. I've always been interested to mess with Homebrew related things with Brawl but never did. I also helped Thinkaman test out a couple early Balanced Brawl character builds.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I used to go to a tourney once or twice a month, gradually dying to once a month, and less now due to ride constraints.

When it comes to my local scene, I try to get to know and be friends with most everyone. I don't want them to be just another player, I want them to be a friend. And that also means more attendance hopefully, so it's a win win situation. Midwest isn't that great, I know that much, but we're getting there. I couldn't name top level players off the top of my head, but if you named them, I could probably match them to a character.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

I never placed well in tourneys, I'm not that great under pressure especially. And the lack of practice leaves me by myself a lot.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

I kinda' like both honestly. At first I wasn't too big on either, but kinda' seeing them in game and their fluent movement I got to stomach them a bit more. I can't wait for Pokemon Black and White.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

Honestly you guys do a pretty good job now. You have a great set of members, who all know the game fairly well, and are able to discuss aspects of the game without jumping to a sudden conclusion. Not much I could think about, except what you guys are doing now.

Maybe a little collaboration of some of the members of the BBR to make a little video tutorial or set of videos to introduce players into the world of competitive Brawl. I know there are videos around, but, if you note it's from the BBR and who they are, new players will feel more confident in watching it, feeling that what they are watching can transfer over, and will help them compete. Or just a collective guide on things to know for your first tournament, and what not. It would help ten fold.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I helped on the Snake Discussion awhile back, I think they got a new thread by now, and little tid bits on Lucario singles and doubles discussion (That board is relatively dead though.), but due to more time on the computer now, I'm going to start trying to contribute to the Marth Boards discussion once I start playing some more.

I feel my two cents added to the discussion couldn't hurt, and maybe, it could wind up helping quite a bit. I feel I know enough about the game, and the characters to be able to rightfully share my honest opinion, and it not just be rambling.

Thank you for reading this, and even considering it, I appreciate it greatly.

KageMurphy/OTC/Ramona Flowers here, been a member of the community since 05 and hoping this application will be considered by you folks, here goes nothing.

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?
Yes, I have co hosted Multiple events in the MD/VA area as well as helped at OOR/OOS events including Pound 4, Apex 2010 and most recently KTAR, the hosts of each can more then confirm this. Locals I've been apart of along side TheTantalus as well and my crew ATHF tend to finish around dinner time, we are pretty no nonsense when it comes to getting things done in a timely manner but I'd have to say the most unique thing about the two largest local events I've helped run is the fact we consistently attracted extraordinary crowds at each one and they both went on to become the biggest local events of each season. For our area which tends of have 20 to 25 people at the most as of late it's very rewarding.
Two of our most successful ran events I've co hosted:
ATHF Presents: Veteran of 08 Smash
ATHF presents: $5 Venue Fee Greenbelt, MD

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.
I would say I specialize in a character more so then the games physics. Specializations to fully grasp the knowledge of a character are achieved in two steps. Firstly, all specializations require a trainer (a person who can teach it), in my case that would be Atomsk. Hands down he taught me the in's and outs of King DDD as well as MetaKnight, both of whom I main. I've had the pleasure of housing him and with him many times so this isn't just talk, he gave me plenty of hands on training. Second, style choice, kind of a mix and match if you will, blending in styles of other top pros with that character and finding what works best for you and leads to the most success, at higher levels of play your thought processes and how you apply mindgames really comes into play here, that's how I look at it. I'd like to point out that the former does not mean I am ignorant of the rest of the cast because I am far from it as I play serveral others and know my fair share about the remaining characters but I feel there is a difference between knowing a character to a certain level and really specializing in one or two.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?
We haven't been having as many events as of late(1 or 2 a month not including other regions we may go to like PA/NY/NJ), or at least back to back but if we have on a good month lets say 3, you'll see me at 2 of them for sure. My local scene is something I know very well and I am pround of it. I'm a respected co host, commentator(I'm an official hire of VG BootCamp) and on our regions Power Rankings panel(I've held a position there a little over a year now). Nationals I have attended(and helped with as I described earlier) include Pound 4 and Apex 2010. Large EC Regionals I have gone to include several Viridian City events hosted by Alex Strife, Kosha boy hosted by Inui and the legendary COT4 hosted by Chibo to name a few.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
I haven't entered much as of late due to financial issues(besides APEX 2010) but I am in a good position now and will be entering an event this weekend. I still attend events so I am have accurate input in our PR discussions as well as commentate or lend a hand to the T.O. when needed.
A few results tho of this year:
Hbcpga 8-28-10 -1st place in teams with Korn, I was Ramona n he was Flowers
Miami Sports Fan's Tournament - 2nd in singles
C3 Cyberclub - 7th in singles /1st in teams @ Hagertown event listed in the results as well(same day event)
GPX and Tantalus Present: Katsucon 16 Brawl Singles - 5th place singles
ATHF Presents: Veteran of 08 Smash - 17th in singles

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?
Reshiram, rhymes with mammogram ;3

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
The BBR has done a spectacular job with the new and previous tier lists, that is one thing I think you guys have excelled at. However, the stage list and general rule set that has been suggested created a rather negative response. I agree that taking a bold step is not always a bad thing but I think you guys may have been a little too bold with the release of the last suggested rule set. I think more people in the BBR need to be hands on with certain aspects. If you're going to have stages like Distant Planet and Yoshi's Island(Melee) legal then get with a T.O. and see if they are willing to run it at one of their events to get some proper in tournament feedback, play testing it and just adding it to your official set seemed a tad silly(but if I am wrong on anything I apologize). Luigi's Mansion, Pirate Ship and Port Town Aero Dive(great doubles stage imo) were not so hard to swallow as they were all once legal in my region and it is interesting to see how those stages would be played in our current Metaknightgame. Ledge grab rule was kind of a toss up as I respect there are a few characters in this game(the more under played ones like Link n Ganon) who might need a lot of ledge grabs to recover safely or at all.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
Well besides events I've helped host which I linked earlier I can't say I have any real stand out contributions on Smashboards compared to others. I post here and there to give my 2 cents and follow multiple threads but I can't pretend I've written a bunch of paragraphs on certain subjects over and over. I discuss multiple things with pros and others offline every chance(which is often) I get which I find much more beneficial. TheTantalus will tell you himself I had a rather large hand in the current rule set for Pound 5 which everyone should attend. :)

Hello I go by Judo. I'm a sheik main from Louisville Kentucky and ranked 5th in the Indiana Kentucky Region.

Questions:
1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

I have never hosted a large scale tournament before. However I do regularly host weeklies for the Lexington Community (where i go to school) and am currently in the process of registering to be president of a video game club here at my University. Smash will be the main focus of the club and I plan on hosting some much larger tournaments this year. At the weeklies we tend to follow BBR rule set. However we are a little more lenient on stage selection.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

The part i know the most about in brawl is definitely Sheik my main. I have mained her since i got the game, day 2 of brawls release. I have am a fairly active poster on the sheik boards and have a pretty large knowledge of sheik as a character as that is my specialty.

I also have a pretty large knowledge of the game in general. I know quite alot about the game mechanics and physics behind brawl as well as having a fairly in depth knowledge of every character. I have a little bit of a reputation for being able to play just about everyone.

I actually think my game knowledge would be one of my strongest contributions as a BBR member.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I am fairly on and off in the smash scene. I try to be as active as possible but I am also in school so it can be tricky to find time. I typically attend about 2 a month. Sometimes i wont attend for a few weeks and sometimes I'll be at a tourney every weekend 3 weeks straight. I am fairly active in both the Louisville and Lexington scene as well as being more active than typical out of staters in Cinicinnati and Indianapolis. I'm also a panelist on IN/KY's PR.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

I typically place fairly well at tournaments. Depending on the size i can take anywhere from top 5-15 I have never traveled very far (aside from MLG) so most of my experience are just in the regions i named above and therefore my larger tourneys arent that large. I haven't been to very many tourneys with a whole lot of talent but i have been to a few with a decent amount.

Some of my results.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Idk what that is........

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I am a very large advocate of keeping the smash community healthy as well as the metagame. I can be very strong opinioned at time but everything I do is to attempt to make brawl metagame more fun and in-depth as well as healthy. I think I could help work on solutions to alot of the problems seen in the community and would work to help unify the community and make the brawl scene a better place with greater attendance

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I don't often make threads. However every now and then i decide to make a big long write up of something that i think is worth making a thread of. I do however post fairly often in alot of boards. I am fairly active on the sheik boards and post in their quite frequently. But I'll just give a few of my larger more in depth posts that i have made.

If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

I'm not a tournament hoster, mostly because Sweden is a country who strongly prefer SSBM before SSBB, meaning that SSBM tournaments is in charge here. There're not many SSBB tournaments here, but I want to change that! When I have the chance, I would host a SSBB tournament. If there is a Smash tournament and if I am able, I'll go to it! (There are only 2 smash tournaments a year in my area, and both are SSBM tournaments!)

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

My main is Wario. My secondery are Ice Climbers. I used to main Ice Climbers because they were so fun and they have so many different tactics. I am not able to do the infinite Chain-Grab, but instead, I worked with other cool stuff with them. And that was my way to win with them. The main reason I changed my main to Wario was that he was so fun to play, he isn't a character who have the same play style over and over again! He has various of tactics and so on! So I picked him instead! So my special characters are Wario and Ice Climbers, and I can much about them (I have found 2 new techniques with Wario that I haven't told anyone, why is something I only know the answer of)! I read very much on SmashWiki, extending my general skill in SSBB. I know much about characters and stages, since I read much about them on SmashWiki. I love dicussing stages and argue why they should be banned/CP/legal! And besides that, I love collecting stickers and trophies on both SSE and Coin Launcher! And I also would say that I know very much of SSE, since I love it! Yes, SSE is my favourite 1-player mode and I have beat it on intense level about 7times! And many says that it takes over 20 hours with stickers, but I beat all 7 times under 8 hours without stickers on intense difficulty! I just love SSE! But over all, I know very much about comptetive Brawl in general, knowing many MUs, Stages and Characters (including Tier Lists)!

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I attend SSBM tournaments 2 times a year. I love SSBB more than SSBM, but sadly, Sweden is a country who prefer SSBM over SSBB! SSBB tournaments is a missing part in the smash scene of Sweden, which leaves me with the only choice to attend SSBB tournament: Online Tournaments! And I hate when SSBM players of Sweden says that "SSBB requires no skills", that "all can win in this ****ty game!" which makes me very mad, and then I argue with them why Sweden must give the SSBB scene a chance! And I argue with them more about what game SSBB is! But SSBM is dominating here, but I promise, when I have the chance and I am able to do it, I will host SSBB tournaments at events (such as Dream Hack)!

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

As said before, there aren't any SSBB tournaments here, but I came second on a SSBM amateur tournament, and beat one in the SSBM pro tournament (Kirby is my main and I used him all the time!). And then I have placed first in Europeans Doubles Tournament (Online tournament) at AiB (http://allisbrawl.com/profile/xzx.ai), so thats the only tournaments I have attended to! (There are many online tournaments, and I have attended some on All is Brawl.)

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Zekrom, because he is cooler!

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

Definetily the Stage Legal list, mostly because most of the stages nerfes low tiers and and buffs high tiers. Of course stages like Battle Field buffs long ranged characters but I don't mean that kinds of buffs/nerfs! The stage list must be rediscussed, in my oppinion! And I want the BBR to have at least one main of each character, because the others could listen to each others, rather than only having mostly higher tiers!

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I haven't made many posts on Smashboards, leaving me unfamiliar to many members. But on www.allisbrawl.com , I have discussed and argued why Pokémon Stadium 2 should be a counter pick (http://allisbrawl.com/forum/topic.aspx?id=159692&page=1 and http://allisbrawl.com/forum/topic.aspx?id=159693).
If I was a member of BBR, I would offer it many stage discussings, tier lists, tournament rules, and of cousre, anything related to SSBB!

Thanks for reading!

No...I just like to participate in tourneys..They're money matched. I'm from the south, so we have Lee Martin :chuckle:

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I have a balanced ratio of knowledge when it comes to characters and stages. I usually just play around and try to come up with new combos or techniques and learn how to use a stage to my advantage.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?
I've only ever attended OTL tournaments and I join only if I feel like it.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

I'm not as good as I like to think..:urg:

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Zekrom's the black one right? If so, then Zekrom for the win!

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

Make better lists/ tiers..They're all too biased IMO...I think they should consider the people's opinion's because I believe a tier and/or list based on the public's opinion would be better for the community as a whole and there would be less people complaining about it.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
I would bring honesty and integrity..I would also bring the opinions of the public as well because I like people and I'm always willing to listen to their problems. I think I would make a great contribution to the BBR if you added me to the group...That is all

Hey there! My username for basically everything I do is Nysyarc, and my tag for Brawl is Nyke. I am an Ike main in Brawl and have been playing Smash since 64 first came out. I first hit the competitive scene in Brawl about a year and a half ago now (around the time I registered at the forums). Since then I've learned a ton, improved a ton, and contributed... well, not as much as I'd have liked to, but I'm determined to change that.

A little bit about me real quick... I'm a modest, level-headed and even-tempered person, I refrain from creating drama where none is necessary. I'm a good listener and am able to understand others' points of view. That said, I also love debating and am not afraid to state my opinion on just about anything.

Thank you in advance for reading through and hopefully considering my application!

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?
The only tournaments that I host are online ones, since the local events in my area have been run by generally the same group of (very good) TOs for several years now. I do think that I would make a good TO however, and I can quickly outline a few things I would do with my tournaments, were I to host local offline events.

Ruleset would be standard for the BBR, and I would likely use a 9 stage starter system. I feel that recurring tournaments should always offer something different than the standard Brawl singles. For example I might do Brawl Doubles one time, Low Tier Singles/Doubles another, maybe a Melee side tourney after that.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.
The character I specialize most heavily in is Ike, although I am very knowledgeable about other aspects of Brawl as well. I am familiar with all characters to some extent and can play as any character at a reasonable level. The characters I am most familiar with (in order) are Ike, Ganondorf, Donkey Kong, Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon, Link and Zelda.

As such, my knowledge of Low Tier characters and match-ups is quite extensive. I have also spent quite a lot of spare time working with all legal stages and stage gimmicks, so I am familiar with, and comfortable playing on, just about every stage that is legal as of the most recent ruleset update (and a few others besides).

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?
I attend local tournaments as often as they occur, which is usually on a bi-weekly basis, but sometimes more or less often. I am very familiar with my local scene, I know and am friends with basically everyone who is active in the scene. As for our region, there aren't too many other smash communities in the Canadian Maritime Provinces, but I am aware of the few reasonably sized ones that do exist, such as the community in Newfoundland.

I keep up to date with tournament results and top players across the rest of Canada and in most of the US as well, so even though you may not know me, I probably know you (mwahahaha!). I have yet to travel out of province for a tournament, although I definitely want to, and am considering visiting Texas for WHOBO 3 next year.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
My recent local placings have been consistently top 5 for the most part, and never below top 8. I currently hold the fourth spot on the Nova Scotia Power Rankings. Here are some recent tournament results from good-sized tourneys, as well as our local PR:

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?
What kind of names are those for Pokemon? What happened to clever, catchy names like Charizard and Ampharos? Gen I and II were good but after that I stopped following it.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
Mainly, development of Low and Mid Tier characters. I am willing to put plenty of time and effort into finding various stage and match-up advantages for Low Tier characters, and I already have done quite a bit of meddling around in that area. Other than that... I can't complain about the current view the BBR has on stage legality, but exploration of stages and character MUs on different stages will never be complete.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
My most significant contributions have been for the Ike boards, I'll briefly go over each thread as I link them:

The Official Ike Video Critique Thread

Though I did not originally create this thread, I have been the most active poster in it since I first learned of it's existence. Kimchi permitted me to OP the thread and I made several changes to the format and updated the Critique Archive.

Over the last year I have given lengthy critiques on many, many videos of Ike mains, and I have been praised on several occasions for how thorough and honest I am in my critiques. I really do enjoy giving constructive criticism, knowing that I am helping another player to improve.

The Ike Match-Up Ratio Topic

Credit goes to Nidtendofreak for the idea and for creating the topic; I am just the one who takes everyone's inputted ratios and calculates the averages... I also made the ratio chart look pretty, lol. Just thought this may be worth mentioning.

How to Show No Sympathy: The Community Ike Guide

This guide was originally my idea (though many aspects of it have been elaborated and added by other Ike boards regulars) once I was assigned to be the mod of the Ike boards, but we agreed for Ussi to have the OP so either of us could update it if the other was not online or busy.

I wanted it to be a community project for all of the Ike boards members, regulars or newcomers, to get together and share any knowledge they have in their various areas of expertise. It was very successful for quite some time, and although we have taken a bit of a break from it for now, we do plan on wrapping it up in the near future.

I wrote up and edited several sections of the guide myself, including one extensive section on Ike's platform game, a very in-depth moveset analysis for Ike, and an overview of Smash Stick vs Attack Stick for the c-stick control setting, all of which can be found inside collapse tags in the OP.

~ Ike Boards Bi-Weeklies Thread ~

YagamiLight and I originally had the idea to do this, and we agreed that I could create the thread and organize the tournaments. It has really brought the Ike boards closer together as a community, along with the guide, and I have put a lot of work into updating statistics and deciding on the Power Rankings along with a few other individuals.

In the near future I plan to do up the Stage Strategy section of our Ike guide, as well as do some editing of all existing sections. If you hadn't noticed, I'm big on community efforts and making sure everyone is included in events.

I would bring a solid understanding of Ike and several other Low Tier characters to the BBR, as well as knowledge on every stage in our current legal set. I am very easy to get along with and always try to encourage everyone to give their input in a group discussion. I can also help to represent Canada and specifically the Atlantic provinces which currently do not have a representative in the BBR.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this application!

Sure, I'll give it a shot.

I'm Fragbait, a power ranked Ness main from Kansas. I've been playing competitively since Brawl's release.

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

I have done some co-hosting. I've learned what I know about running games from running smaller ones for the Gamers Club at Derby High in Derby, KS (which I founded) and by shadowing The Real Inferno, Affinity and Mr. Doom for NO KOAST v1, NO KOAST v2/v3 and SLAST, respectively. The tournaments are generally successful, having more problems in Administrative stuff than the tourney itself. They are very unique in that the Wichita Crew is always friendly to our OoS competetors and we try to take care of everyone we can.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I am fairly knowledgeable in Falco's MetaGame, as well as the higher end of Casual play for most characters. Due to poor performance in tourney, however, I find that my time is better spent learning the characters I like and adding to my own repertoire of knowledge, while trying to increase awareness and participation in tournaments in the area. I am also fairly knowledgeable in the proper Mindset of a tourney player even if I sometimes don't show it.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I attend most all local tournaments, and are extremely familiar with my local scene, being active and helpful in any way possible. I am fairly knowledgeable in the state of the Midwest Region, following major tournaments such as WHOBO. I also make a point of knowing the current standings of major players in the national scene, however, I am not very well versed in the differing rulesets or players on a national level.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
Dismal. I usually place somewhere around the high end of the bottom.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?
Dennis.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I would like the BBR to re-evaluate the Stage List and the status of the legality of certain tactics I find detrimental to the advancement of the metagame. While I won't push for it, I would like to see an evaluation of the proposal of the "6 month ban" faction of the MetaKnight debate, as an experiment in the state of the metagame with it's most dominant character banned.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I have recently begun to sharpen my Debate skills in the Debate Hall's Proving Grounds. While I am a recent joiner, I feel that I have been able to promote intelligent discussion based on logic and interpretation of facts. While I have not been able to make any significant contributions to the Smash Bros. scene past promoting (very well, I might add) a small local tournament, I seek to remedy this with a membership to the Back Room. I can bring a true passion for the game to the Back Room, as this game has brought me new friends and memories I won't forget any time soon.

I thank the Brawl Back room for the open opportunity for regular community members to join it's ranks. While I've been critical of the Back Room in the past, I have to admit that things have started to open up for everyone, and I'd like to see this continue. If I have the chance to be part of it, I've gotta take it.

It would especially be great for more TOs and (preferably succesful) mains of obscure characters to apply. Also appealing to the BBR members here to not clutter this topic up too much.
Well I originally wasn't going to apply but I figure if you need successful TO's then let's see what I can contribute.

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?
I co-host a monthly tournament with T-block (current member of the BBR) at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada although for most of the summer (jun, jul, aug) I solo hosted since T-block was out of town. Our tournaments are fairly successful although tournament attendance has been down as of late, I have talked to a few of the ppl who used to come and they are interested in showing up again so we will likely see over 80% of them again at the next monthly in november.
We don't do too much different than the norm, except for maybe a 9 stage starter. We accomodate our players to the best of our ability including accomodating their schedules when picking dates for each tournament and going out of our way to make sure they are able to participate in as many tournaments as possible.
T-block has a advertisement poster made up that I am printing off and distributing around various gaming centers as well as at the University of Alberta where we hold our tournaments in order to raise attendance to my personal goal of around 30. We are also looking into holding melee tournaments alongside our brawl tournaments and hopefully getting players to look into both games instead of just a single one. My main goal as a TO right now is to raise attendance as high as possible and to bring more new smashers into the scene.
Here is a link to our tournament listing which also holds links to results from each monthly we've held up to this date: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=259535

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.
I would consider myself knowing the most about ppl's mindsets and thought processes both from being very reflective of myself my entire life as well as constantly trying to analyze why other ppl around me do what they do. I have also taken a few university level psychology courses. I also know the most about Marth (my main) mostly on frame data and matchups. I have basic working knowledge of most of the top tiers with a little more on falco (my alternate) than the rest.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?
I attend every monthly tournament that I co-host and as the TO of my local scene I am very familiar with it haha. Our regional scene of western canada includes mostly Alberta and British Columbia and we communicate fairly well with each other. Britisch Columbia is holding a tournament Oct 16 that much of Alberta is going to and Alberta hopes to hold a national sometime next year attracting names such as HolyKnightmare and Ally from eastern Canada.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
My overall tournament performance is not bad. I am currently a ranked player in Alberta.
These were the three tournaments used to create our most recent PR:
Jul 10: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=280550
Aug 14: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=283904
Sep 11: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=286334

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?
Zekrom, cuz he's black (no, im not being racist! it's the color I always use for my marth! haha)

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
I would like to see the BBR look into extensive work on matchups for every character. For example I believe having links to MU discussions in Rajam's Matchup Chart & Lists thread as well as working towards having a fully complete chart could really benefit the entire Smash community. I also think having someone take over Ankoku's Character Ranking's List thread or getting Ankoku to work on updating (I understand he must be really busy atm being the director of admission and all haha) would really benefit the community as well as give people a more accurate quick reference to how well each chracter is doing tournament wise that they could compare to the new BBR tier list v5

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
I feel I would bring a very objective opinion to discussions in the BBR. I have been told by many people that I have the talent to look at anything completely objectively no matter what my own opinion on the matter is. I also feel that I have the ability to look at matchups from more than just a frame data like perspective and think more about how player's mindsets and characters abilities to mindgame come into play.
I believe that my experience thus far and the experience I will gain in the future as a TO will play the biggest part in my role as a member of the BBR if I am accepted

I also want to say that my twin (xzx) and I are perhaps the best team in Sweden (in Brawl, Wario + R.O.B.) and that I've won a Melee tournament this year (amateur) with only Mario if this means anything (there were like 55 attendees in total).

I will just spare the time without writing the questions. All questions 1-7 except 4 are from top to bottom.

1. I am a host, and co-host for tournaments. My area usually runs them at my house, and they can hold many people at a time.

2. The part of Brawl I know most about is all of it. I specialize as Link, and know all of the cast, from Mario to Mr. Game and Watch. I do not look into the physics, nor do I need any help with the game. No need for mindset, or process, cause I am a Frontier of Smash Bros.

3. I can't say I have been to a tournament yet, but if it is in my area, I will go. My area would be Louisiana to Arkansas to California.

5. Reshiram and Zekrom, cause I am not a racist, because the colors are cool, and I use them as Marth. Both are really great.

6. I would like to see them work on the Tier List, mostly and the match-ups, because Meta Knight has been on top for way too long, I think it should change. Also, Ganondorf has been too low, along with Link. The two are incredible characters.

7. Nah. I won't bring any links from contributions.

I highly doubt that I'll be any form of candidate for this thing... especially seeing the questions and other things required in order to participate in discussion. Even posting here may be a complete waste of my time.... but I don't care.

oh, and although the account that I am using says that I go by "Eagleye893", I prefer just "34GL3" or "Eagle"... but "3G4L_Adler" is what I've started switching my stuff to on other websites, so that would be the most prefered... that or just "Adler".

Reason for concern in this matter:
As far as I know, Ness isn't represented, in my opinion, in the best way possible. Sure, we may have a couple people who know a lot about the Ness gameplay, but my odd play that comes in handy in random situations seems to go unnoticed. Sure, I haven't gone to a tournament in a really long time and can't attend tournaments until after November starts due to school complications, but I can present a good amount of thought to several subjects. I try to show as little bias as possible towards every situation, seeing what is fair and what is unfair for every person who is involved in a matter.

Questions:
1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?
2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.
3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?
4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
5. Reshiram or Zekrom?
6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
1.) I haven't hosted a tournament... sadly enough. I have thought of doing so several times, some through my school and another through my work, but being busy 24/7 and working on the only day that would make sense to host a tournament on, Saturday, has made it difficult to do so. If I had the chance to, I would.
I would first need to see how a standard tournament would be run in order to offer any alterations, but I feel there are only a few things that would make things more enjoyable: I've thought of creating some system so that, rather than showing a winner of a match based on who has a minimally lower amount of percent on their last stocks, there is a specific difference in percent that a person must achieve in order to be given the win. It would have to rely upon the weight of a character, but that would involve classifying weight based on how well a character can survive. The BBR should be able to do that fairly easily, IMO, and it would solve some frustration people have been having concerning time-outs.
2.) Similar to everything I do in life, I specialize in knowledge and interpretation of the game as a whole. I know a ton about ness, but I also know a lot about the physics of Brawl and enough about other characters to get a general idea of how they are played. While I do know a lot, I prefer focusing on the mental aspect of the game: determining best solutions by restricting opposing actions to a small amount, then reading my opponent based on the restrictive amount of possible actions. My gameplay relies upon this, and thus I've played to know everything about what a character is likely to do and devised methods of stopping that. Relating this to chess as I always do, I memorize every possible "opening," "midgame tactic," and "endgame strategy" to play over my opposition...
^sadly, marth rocks ness in nearly every aspect, so I need to switch to a secondary for that. Ness, IMO, can't play a really good marth and win consistently by any means.
3.) I said before, I haven't gone to many tournaments. In fact, I think the last time I have gone to a tournament, a real one and not a smashfest, was in november of last year. After a giant obstacle of getting everything in school set, I'm going to get back to attending tournaments with my newfound ness skillz and knowledge of the game and potentially place highly... however, I'm unsure of that.
I am familiar with some people in the IL/MW scene... but things change over the course of a year. Nation.... yeah. Not really. I've kept track of major players and know mostly of who is considered a top player, so that could be considered one positive thing.
4.)
http://allisbrawl.com/history.aspx?id=26420&gid=0&page=2
http://allisbrawl.com/history.aspx?id=26420&gid=0&page=1

those include online tournaments... one isn't shown, which must be the 4th that I'm talking
1st tournament
25th singles

2nd tournament
17th singles

3rd tournament
fail (not make out of pools in singles)
7th low tier singles

4th tournament (sometime november of last year)
it was randomly changed to single elim during the middle and I don't think the results were every posted, but IIRC, 16th.

5.) Zekrom
reasoning:
a.) He's got a "Z" in his name...
b.) He looks stronger than Reshiram
c.) DRAGON + LIGHTNING?!?!?!?!?!??!?!??!? OMG TOO COOL!! Better than a fire/dragon
d.) High attack, so outrage, Cross Thunder, Volt Change, and a couple other moves do well... but he also has enough SPatk to do those things as well.
e.) ... IDK

6.) What aspect... I would like to see some work on adjusting the way tournaments are conducted. As I said before, the thing about time-out ruling. That's it for that point.
Some stages seem ridiculous for their legitimacy, and the same arguments applied to most of the recently admitted counterpicks can also be made for the banned stages. (There isn't anything wrong with Hanenbow... people just need to learn how to play the stage! that is an example, not my thought)
Some discussion of characters will continue obviously.
Maybe a look into the ICs' infinite would be advised... Sure, it involves skill, but it creates a somewhat unfair situation for the person being 0-death'd. Even worse is that everyone can be infinited except the ICs.
What else DOES the BBR do? I'm not entirely sure.
7.)
Well, I only started doing things recently for the Ness boards:

Might as well join in the mob of Yoshi mains applying.

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

No, I am not a host or a co-host.

The tournaments in my area (tri-state) are usually run with doubles first, then singles. Most of the time there is a side event (or side events), usually consisting of Brawl-, or a low tier event. These vary from host to host. There's also a bunch of good hosts around, and turn out is nice even for a weekly local. I've enjoyed pretty much every event I've been to.

Other things that I've noticed recently are that more TOs in the area are expanding the stage list. The KTAR series has been messing around with this for a while, and other tournaments are beginning to follow. It's a nice change from the usual, extremely small stage list.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I pretty much only specialize in knowledge of my character, Yoshi. I have a pretty general understanding of the cast as a whole, but I pretty much relate everything to Yoshi. I don't particularly have an in-depth understanding of the physics engine or anything else, and I don't really bother to memorize frame data. It's why I keep the frame data information bookmarked, so I can reference it if I need to.

My true specialization with Yoshi is in being safe and non-committal, probably on account of this being the most effective way of fighting MK, and he's everywhere in this region.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I attend tournaments as often as I can. Usually I attend at least twice a month, although with school just now starting and it being Junior year, I've been a bit swamped and haven't attended anything in about 2 months. I'm hoping I'll have time soon. For now, I'm saving my days off for larger events and not attending every weekly local like I used to.

I'm very familiar with the local scene, because I'm active there and know just about everyone. I'm a little less familiar with the regional scene, and as far as the national scene is concerned, I really don't keep up with it much.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

Overall, I pretty much place in the middle of the placings at most tournaments. I have some decent wins under my belt, and I don't really place high often. My best performance was at Apex, where I'd got to 49th. My highest placing was 9th, at PolyBrawl 4 last March.

I haven't entered in a while, so I'm not sure how I'd place now.

I was also, at one point, ranked 10th in NJ, although I'm currently on Honorable Mention (not that I submitted wins last season anyways.)

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

That's a toughie. I'm probably the most interested in looking into low tiers and how they can function in tournament, due to my mandatory bias. I feel like a lot of them are underrepresented, mainly due to there being a scarce amount of players for each low tier.

I also would like stages to be looked into more. I actually had very little problems with the last stagelist, and I'd actually prefer larger ones overall.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

Well, it's pretty hard to link to individual posts. I generally only partake in discussions, and don't really do any large write-ups. Match up and stage discussion are being started at the Yoshi boards again, and somewhat recently I had discussed the Link MU at the Link boards.

I feel like a lot of people discuss match ups wrong, and take them as a "If you do X, I can beat it with Y!" kinda thing, instead of treating them as broader topics, where you look at options and see what a character has over the other, and how often the advantage can be used, etc. Mindsets are another thing a lot of people don't really bring into MU discussion, such as not approaching Falco until you're out of CG percents, and not approaching him when you're at, say, 130% or above, when it doesn't really matter how much damage you take.

So I guess I could bring somewhat more realistic theorycraft? If you can even call it that, lol.

A lot of the discussions on the Yoshi boards haven't really been too active because there's not a large difference of opinion there.

Look here steakhead, I didn't ask for your 2 bit
1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

I ran tournaments in Maine up until the store we had them at closed last year. The tournaments were as successful as a tournament in Maine can be, especially in a state with dying interest in Brawl.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I know most everything about Pikachu, being New England's best Pikachu main. I know a bunch of random matchups I like to play like Luigi vs Snake and Game and Watch vs ZSS. I converse/play with Darc and Dazwa frequently so I know a lot about their characters.

Recently I have been thinking more and more of the mindset and thought processes of players as they play and what moves they expect at certain times.(Like all players should)

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I attend tournaments very frequently, sometimes 3 times a month. My local scene consists of me and about 6 other people.

My regional scene I am very familiar with as our region is a close-knit community. We hangout together and sometimes celebrate birthdays together.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

Only recent tournament that I have ENTERED(Normally I go for friendlies and the community due to lack of money to enter)
http://allisbrawl.com/ttournament.aspx?id=9942
Normally I place somewhere in that area(good enough to make it out of pools).

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Reshiram because they have taken their sweet time to make a Dragon/Fire type.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

Currently I think the status-quo is pretty good however I would like to help on future projects and discussions.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

Honestly I haven't made any public contributions really, just stuff I have picked up from playing/practicing and discussed with my friends. Unless you count The Blade Breakers a contribution LMAO.

Hey, my name is Cinnamon or Cin for short. My main is Falco and I am the only Falco main in Oregon. I occasionally win money at tournaments that I attend so I guess that technically makes me a pro Smasher! :bee: On top of Smash I am a Starcraft player though I am not pro (yet).

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

I am no tournament host but I often attend local and regional tournaments. I've supplied venues for tournaments but I let others take care of making sure the tourny runs smoothly. Tournaments here in Oregon/Washington are mostly standard with the double elimination style with 3-game sets. Nothing fancy to talk about but we often play around with the little things to see what works. Things like changing the time length of each game, edge grab rules, "unorthodox" stages etc. There was a tournament with swiss brackets but other than that it's been bbr recommended rules.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I play Falco almost exclusively with some ice climbers thrown in for fun. In terms of the Falco match-up I know a lot but I also play with others so I pick up things from others too. I guess you could say my specialty is in the individual match-up discussions because of the time I have put into learning the minute details of characters. Looking at frames in detail and learning what beats what and what is possible in each situation and then practicing the response to each situation is what I find most beneficial.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I am very familiar with my local scene and know almost every player by name at this point. Same with the regional scene in the northwest (Oregon and Washington). This summer I have been busy but I usually attend the monthly Gameclucks tournaments and have plans the next MLG when there is one in Oregon or Washington. On top of this I am hoping to attend at least 2 local tournaments a month at a minimum.

On a side note: I get a lot of practice time in with the t1mmy and t0mmy, better known as the smash twins. I have beaten t1mmy in tournament twice so far and haven't played t0mmy but our friendlies are intense. We spend a lot of time digging through frame data and talking details about meta-game development and all that good stuff. Plus they're fun to hang out with. :)

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

Here is my AiB profile, http://allisbrawl.com/profile/Cin.ai

As you can see, I have been placing in the money and consistently taking third at local and state-wide tournaments. When I get some free time and can attend a regional tournament i will hopefully have a little more to brag about. :)

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

BOOO!!!! New pokemon ftl! The original pokemon from red/blue will forever be the only real pokemon.

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I would like to see more community involvement. By that I mean we need to always be working at growing the smash community and gaining more and more recognition so we will not fade to the background behind street fighter or some other fighting game. However, i truly am happy with character discussions and look forward to participating in advancing our understanding of each match-up because I believe that is what leads to true meta game advancement.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

My diagrams are second to none and I am the proud owner of the prestigious "best post of the year" award as voted by the Falco boards.

On a more serious note, i have contributed to various match-up discussions. Here's a post where I was discussing the Marth match-up with DEHF.

Mike is too cocky, nobody should be allowed to john for him. :p

Here's a match from Bio 3 with SK92 (which I got to see in person :) )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0F7QC-1iS4&feature=related

Beginning of the match, falco is all about the camp. Gets *****. Late game starts dodging, and reacting. *****. Though some of it is just Delfino bull****, the more I watch this match-up the more I think the theorycrafters have it wrong. At around 35 seconds is my favorite part. Marth keeps dashing to get a grab or dancing blade but falco's roll dodge beats it every time.

Like you said he plays careful, not campy.

I'm really starting to think Falco's dodge > marth. I mean just look at the frame data. Marths' fastest move up close (other than ds) is like 7 frames and/or has tons of ending lag. Spot dodge -> punish
On a side note, I personally know Tuen irl (a bbr member known for his pr system for the northwest region) and look forward to being able to participate in some of the discussions that he always talks about.

-Thanks
Cinnamon

Hello! My name is Punishment Divine, or PD for short. I'm a humble Marth/Wario main from Long Island, NY. I am applying to the BBR because I feel that I would not only be a good addition for my smash knowledge, I also believe the BBR is in dire need of help from someone with a good head on their shoulders (see:me)

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

I have hosted 2 tournaments in the past, and co-host almost everything on Long Island. I am an extremely fair seeder and know the skill level of the community. Our tournaments have been very successful for what they've been meant to be - moderately sized locals with plenty of talent where people get a chance to have fun. Will and I typically host tournaments from a local venue owned by a friend's father and we use the TO skills learned from great TO's like Alex Strife and Inui to make our tournaments fast and fun. We don't usually do anything too different, but I would say that people get more friendlies in at our tournaments than they're accustomed to and we try and host different side events to make the public happy.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I pride myself in just knowing a lot. If you ask anyone from Long Island and anyone who's ever played me in a random ditto MM (Izumi!), they will tell you that I have an extremely solid random button. Some of my characters are weaker than my others, but I have watched, played, and read so much about brawl that things just come to me as I play and I strongly believe I'm capable of playing every character in the game at AT LEAST an intermediate level. I will admit I know more about my top 5 or so characters than most, particularly Marth and Wario. I know A LOT about those two lol. I've mained Marth since release and with Wario I've been very successful despite playing him for less than a year. I always seek to make my other characters better, though, and constantly watch high-level videos, read boards and above all ASK QUESTIONS to improve. I also have large quantities of knowledge that come from living in a unique region - I know a DISGUSTING amount about Donkey Kong from playing Will every day of my life, and I also have in my library books on Link (KirinBlaze), Mario (KirinBlaze), Game and Watch (Vinnie), and Olimar (Dabuz).

My strong points as a player would have to be my ability to analyze a game - I think I would make a great commentator and plan on doing this in the near future. I pick up on habits, and see reads, usually before they happen. I also pride myself in my spacing.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I go to tournaments a lot. Over the summer it was practically one every week, but now it's more like twice a month. Money is also tight now =/ Nevertheless, I know the community very well. I talk to everyone at tournaments at one point or another, and almost everyone knows me. As I said before, I'm a very fair seeder because I know and remember everyone, and know about their accomplishments and skill levels.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

It's improved a lot recently. I don't, however, get a chance to enter very often because as I said, money is tight. My biggest tournament win would have to be Inui earlier this summer, and I also made it out of round 1 pools of APEX (Wasn't feeling it round 2, was really tough, too). Here's links to my recent results:

Placed 9/19, beat Inui but lost to 2 people i play every day of my life =( KOTC hosted by Doom

Placed 60/250, went mostly Wario after only playing him for a month or two =P
MLG C-bus

And of course APEX, where I failed to make it out of round 2 pools =(

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Zekrom, but I'm probably getting Black D:

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I would really like to see a more knowledgeable BBR. I would also like to see them justify their decisions more.

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

My current accomplishment is being a member of the trio that hosts Directional Influence, an all smash podcast. We talk about things important to the community - we work for them. And this is my main gripe with the BBR and my main purpose with applying.

I really put a lot of thought into this, and wanted to get my wording just right. Right now, the BBR serves no purpose other than to be a laughing-stock. You're like the Queen of England - you're there, but what do you do? A majority of TO's just go with whatever they want. Ever wonder why that is? It's because not only does the BBR let some ridiculous people in, they also make decisions and simply DON'T back it up. You're like some super-secret society that's distant from the community. The BBR should be like a Transparent Democracy that gives reasons for it's actions. If you don't give people REASONS for your opinions, how can you expect them to buy it? If you look at America's own political structure, you see a government that is currently, let's face it, non-translucent. And what have people done? Made Tea Parties and explained they're pissed over that. The same thing, albeit on a smaller scale, is happening in our very community.

I am willing to, as a strong leader and as someone who plans on going into criminal law as his profession, promote the art of explanation in the BBR and let weigh a burden of proof on each decision made by the BBR. I am also capable of conveying your message to the public - I AM on a relatively popular podcast. I would also like to have maybe certain debates to be possibly aired on the podcast by conflicting members of the BBR, who knows.

If you get anything from my application, regardless of whether you accept me into the BBR, let it be my "answer" to your final question. In short, I am a level headed, social, rising player with a lot to offer and I thank you for sifting through my essay of an application.

Thanks for your time,

-Matt

GTZ - BBR Application - Giving it a shot

Greetings fellow smashers and the members of the BBR, I am Tom, also known as GTZ recently and originally as the tag "S.B.Soldier". I retired from smash for the past one and a half - two years. After much consideration and the straightening out of personal life's issues, I can gladly say that my life has enough stability to consider myself able to perform the tasks required and assume the full responsibility of becoming a BBR member. I have NEVER attempted, I mean NEVER, in the past to apply for this position. I can say that I may very well be qualified or not be qualified, that is for the BBR to determine.

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

To be honest, I am not a tournament host, although I have considered it numerous times in the past and thrown a few "experimental" threads out there to see what the community thinks. I do have willing venues and the resources to run them, but my tournament experience comes from playing and assisting tournament hosts more than hosting myself. There are definitely some strong feelings towards certain aspects of tournaments that I feel differently about. One big one is the issues with lack of setups. I have always felt that dropping the venue fees as an incentive for people who bring full setups, tournaments could go exponentially larger, while maintaining a smooth operation schedule. Specific friendlies televisions and reserved TV's work very well.

]2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

...Well I did create the first legitimate image based Brawl menu translation video on youtube to help assist anyone else who had/has the Japanese Brawl version... In terms of workable smash knowledge.. I play Link, Fox, Falco, MK, Snake, Mario, G&W, Ganon, and Captain Low Tier extensively. I main G&W more than anyone else, and have stuck by him since melee, where I met my inspiration to play him, Corey (OmegaBlackMage). I have posted various responses on various mtachup threads since my first join date back around 2007 (old account had an infraction issue). I can honestly say that my metagame has vastly improved, but I am ALWAYS still learning. I am open to ideas and very well rounded when it comes to stages as well. I have played every version of smash, ie. 64/melee/brawl, and have seen the professional scene change dramatically per game version. I am re-entering competitive Brawl as well, so I am hoping to gain the priviledge of joining a group that makes a positive difference for the community.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

Used to be all the time, since I came back from my leave, probably once a month. I am aware of the MLG standings and such, as well as the local scene (MassMadness-Melee, DNA, Cataclysm, UMass Lowell, etc..) bear in mind that I have been into competitive smash since KoreanDJ walked into my dorm and played me in melee back in fall 2006. I am currently working on starting my first of [hopefully many] tournaments series for Western MA. I have seen a lack of solid tournaments, minus DNA, MassMadness, etc. I have always been firendly and helpful at tournaments, volunteering my time and energy to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently. I can sometimes be seen maintaining downed setups, or providing extra power supplies for the tournaments if need be.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

I have nothing to show except for DNA Worcester MA, when I first reappeared after 2 years of not touching the controller. I got knocked out by KoolAid (2nd best in New England), and then again by another very good smasher... ?Sano maybe?. The info is in the brain, but the hands needs practice to get back to where they were. I won some no name, non smashboards oriented tournaments before retirement back in 2008, but they really aren't worth listing and probably nothing to brag about.. I have become progressively better, but the tournament scene is a bit more competitive than before when I left. I placed 17th at DNA.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?

Why not both?

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I have posted some recent threads to see the communities and the BBR's opinion(s) on the interaction levels between BBR and the general community. That could be one thing, but also there are some other things that can be done too. Like implementing creative ideas into tournaments and possibly looking into some issues with how some larger scale tournaments have difficulty managing. Also a real big issue is always community expansion. Everyone may "flame the scrub", but where will we be if more people don't join/come to tournaments, etc. The community needs more people coming to smashboards and more people running/attending tournaments. Constructive community expansions could prove to be extremely beneficial to the community. I also think that trying to make tournaments appeal to younger smashers would also broaden the community as well, maybe taking tournament advertising to a whole new level (malls, shops etc. w/flyers)

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I have posted my youtube video regarding the translations, and I did help [outside of the forums] to develop some of the early metagame upon Brawl's release, but since I left.. not a whole lot.. I cannot access my older account, which is where a lot of my old data is. I can assure you that "S.B.Soldier", now GTZ, aka me, has been an active member of SWF for years, and can definitely bring some fresh ideas to the table. I have excellent communication and technical skills, and my debate skills exceed expectation. I am excellent with reading people, and enjoy social interactions very much. Considering me for this position has been a privilege, members of the BBR, and you can rest assured that regardless of your decision in terms of my application, you will be seeing much more of me here on SWF, and out there in the community at tournaments . Some people that know me, as Tom, S.B.Soldier, GTZ, etc...
- Dan (KoreanDJ) - my oldest smash friend on here, my inspiration for competitive gaming
- Corey (OmegaBlackMage) - your game and watch vs mine... good times @ UML
- Jason (M2K) - my fire will never be put out my friend, I will see you again soon
- MattdotZebb (forgot how to spell it sorry Matt, I miss your tourneys and have to come to one again now that I'm back)
- BloodCross (how'd you recognize me after all these years)
- KoolAid (I wanna rematch that Diddy)
- OmegaWhiteMage (excellent tourney, my first tourney, may Cataclysm live on forever!!)
*If I forgot anyone I apologize, it's been 2 years and I suck with remembering names...

Thanks for your time BBR, please honestly let me know what you think of me... any critique or feedback, go ahead and PM me..

1. Are you a tournament host or co-host? If so, how successful are your tournaments, generally, and do you do anything different from the norm that you feel provides a better experience for the players than usual? If not, how are the tournaments in your area usually run? Is there anything unique about them?

Yes, I am a tournament host that runs a series of tournaments in Pittsburgh. I just had my most recent one over the summer, /HOPE(results here http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=280539)

The average turnouts for brawl have been 30, with melee average being around 20. I am also trying to start a state college tournament series since its a much more active scene. My main issue is the small number of venues in the area.

I feel the main advantage to the tournaments I run is my goal of intentionally bringing more setups than we would need for the tourney. Yes I know the more setups the better, but generally you don't need to 10-15 setups for a 30 man tournament. This allows either
a. The tourney to end much quicker for more friendlies
b. Friendly tvs to be available the whole time.

I feel having friendly setups constantly available is a huge factor to tournaments being successful and enjoyable. In terms of rule sets, all of my tourneys have different rule sets, for experimentation purposes and to reflect the meta game. For example, I ran APEX rules at my last tourney. This time around I'm going to use MLG rules.

My venue also has the perk of free fountain drinks, as well as cheap food available at the venue. I realize this isn't possible for all venues, but its extremely convenient for players.

I've never had anyone give me negative feedback with the Pittsburgh series. If anything people keep telling me to host them. I feel they would be even more popular if pittsburgh wasn't so far away from all the other smash regions minus NEOH.

Lastly, I usually offer to help TO at any tourney I go to. Alex Strife and I assisted Keitaro with KTAR in late September.

2. What part of Brawl do you know the most about? Do you specialize in a character, or know of some or all of the cast, or do you instead look into the game's physics? Maybe you prefer researching into the proper mindset and thought processes? Give your answer here.

I specialize in characters I play, those being Falco, mk, fox, and on a lower level Marth, Peach, and zelda. From playing competitive for so long I know the general overview of all characters from facing them in tourney. I'm more into researching proper mindset and thought processes. I feel that once you learn the basics, mindset and thought processes are THE defining factor in your skill level. It separates the good players from the GREAT players. I would love to be on a project that would investigate this theory more.

3. How often do you attend tournaments? How familiar are you with your local scene? Your regional scene? The nation?

I am a frequent tourney goer, and I've been to over 10 tournaments this year, including 3 nationals(2 mlgs and apex). I am a Panelist for Pennsylvania power rankings, so I know the PA scene, and I'm familiar with the tri-state scene since I've been to couple NJ tourneys this year. I have also gotten to meet players from all over the country and learn about their respective scenes thanks to the 3 nationals I attended. Lastly, during my internship in Florida, I learned a lot about the florida/altlantic south scene.

4. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

I'm ranked 10th on the PA power rankings(As of summer 2010):

I wound up getting 4th seed.

5. Reshiram or Zekrom?
Reshiram

6. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
I would like the BBR to start working on the mid to lower tiers. I feel the top/high tiers are pretty solid in terms of where they are at. They aren't going to move that much from here unless something drastic happens. However a lot of our understanding of the lower tiers is still bleak. Several players have shown there is a lot of potential untapped here.(San with ike, TKD with fox, choice with wolf, xyro with samus, among others).

7. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
I haven't written any theory posts in a while, but I actively contribute in the Falco boards, as well as with other character boards MUs. I feel my main community contributions have been with active tourney attendance and TOing.

I feel I can bring good debating skills to the BBR, with the intent of enriching the metagame, as well as looking at things as unbiased as I possibly can. Lastly, my main things I would like to see happen are expanded projects on the lower tiers, as well as research into the mental aspect of the game.
