A group of gentlemen and ladies stationed in Ft. Worth, TX who go by The Speed Gamers do a great thing with videogames. Once every few months, they'll get together for a video game marathon, where they'll play through an entire series of games in a 48 to 72 hour period for donations from viewers. Any donations they receive go to a predetermined charitable cause. They never take a penny for themselves, everything they raise goes to the charity they're gaming for at the time. They're all volunteers.

These fine people have raised $147,503.63 for charity in their two year existence.

This time around, The Speed Gamers are going to try their luck at Mario while raising money for Autism Care & Treatment (ACT Today). In a week long endeavor, they're aiming to play through every single Mario game ever released. Here's their schedule. I'm absolutely inspired by these people, so the least I can do is try to get some attention. If you have any spare time from June 11th to June 18th, I sincerely hope you give your attention to these guys. :)

http://www.thespeedgamers.com/past-marathons - A list of every series they've played through in the past, how much money they raised, and which charities they gamed for in each one.
http://www.thespeedgamers.com/about/bios - Here are some biographies about each member. They're stationed all around the world, but their 'HQ' is in Ft. Worth, Texas.
http://www.thespeedgamers.com/faq - Here's their FAQ.
http://community.thespeedgamers.com/ - Their forum, if you want any additional information about them.

Thank you for your time.

Every single mario game....

There's like 80+ games O_O

Anyway, I'll definitely watch the stream when I get time and I'll sticky this till the marathon is over.

Well, I don't think they're actually beating the spinoff games, like the Mario Party, Smash Bros., and Mario Sports series, but I'm almost positive that all of them will be represented in some way.

But, yeah, huge endeavor anyway. Just beating all of the Mario RPGs could take around 48 hours...

Lol, they should go through hotel mario. Gives me a good laugh everytime I watch it.

And yeah, all the Mario RPGs would seriously take a large amount of time.

This is a pretty slick idea... I'll try to remember to watch a bit. It's a shame I'm going to a tournament on the day they do SMRPG =( Should be a blast of nostalgia x.x

I approve of this message. Details are here.

Also, I considered posting this in some other place like the pool room or something more broadly focused. I imagined people that may be interested might not necessarily go to a Mario specific forum.

I doubt they're ever going to do a 72-hour Luigi Marathon. Including all 2 games he starred in. ;>_> They actually decided not to do a 72 hour Mario main series marathon again because it's too short.

Since the marathon is over I'm unstickying this thread. They earned close to $60,000 so the marathon went really well and it was fun to watch.
