I got through whooping up on some Samus's but its better when you're facing people that are a challenge.

I have 2 tips:

1. Samus is weak to close range pressure, as we know. To counter opponents who like to stick around in close proximity, use iDA a lot. When your opponent starts to respect the insane speed, height & range of that move and start shielding/pre-emptive attacking, you have a) bought more time & space for spam; and b) won yourself an opportunity to switch to shield-dashing, grabs, or SH aerials.

2. Samus has an amazing start-up dash. It's so fast you can literally foxtrot at the same speed as her regular dash. Applications include foxtrotting away into a returning fsmash, and foxtrotting to follow SHMC for frametraps.

I would probably need a tutorial on that throwback haha.
iDA = immediate dash attack yes?

What I've been doing recently is punishing a lot of screw attack. It's amazing close range and not even too predictable

yeah iDA is correct. Just dash and push down on the c-stick, it's impossible to do an fsmash by accident.

For dashing shenanigans:
1. Simply start samus' dash in the same direction over and over before it ends. You'll need to wait for a certain point in the beginning dash animation to do it correctly. Once you get it fluid it looks very similar to her normal dash and has about the same speed. You can dashdance to change direction if you are feeling fancy.
2. Now, stop foxtrotting.
3. Practice inputting a dash ***immediately*** followed by an fsmash in either direction - easy, yes? (this is how characters like mario/ganon do a stutter-step fsmash).
4. Combine steps 1 & 3.
5. ???
6. Profit

Someone else can probably explain better, but it's pretty easy. The hard part is remembering to use it in games lol.
