Goddamn - I love my community for never failing to bring the hype. This is some quality ****. Seeing my boy marth in the spotlight again is something else.

Awesome sets by all. Man, what a finish. Mew2King's resurgence, close matches virtually every round, Armada getting close to a solid case as best Smasher ever, something like 8-9 characters being played in Top 5 matchups...I love this game.

Shoutouts to all the chumps running on stage and Dr. FreeFree for his charming little dance after winning one set.

So i think it's safe to say that PPs marth is a serious threat, and I fully expect Armada to start taking notes against it for next time.

That said if PP wants to ever rely on his marth to take on Armada he needs an answer for DL64. His strat of simple strings, pokes, grabs and position is fine on the smaller stages where he can rack armada up to 150% and then poke for kills but it will never ever work on DL64 and at that point he's playing a very dangerous trade game.

I think if PP was more confident dash-cancelling (with crouch, is that what it's called?) into fsmash he would've won
Against Armada, this is a great risk. If PP miss spaces it, and Armada crouch cancelled the hit, the punish is devastating. Along with the possibility of Armada blocking on reaction and subsequently punishing.

F-Smash is a HUGEEEEEEEEEE commitment. I don't think a lot of people realize this.
Especially against someone as technically sound as Armada. Might as well just SD.

Heh, apart from Peepee playing Marth instead of falco that was pretty much what i expected. Armada takes WF over him, Peepee wins LF & GF1... GF2 could've gone eihter way, but my money would've been on ARmada :D

I'm no fool, but you were watching a different game to me if you think that none of the side-bs or grabs he landed at >150% could've been substituted for fsmashes

dawg side b and grabs are so much safer on shield/CC than fsmash

Not only are they simply faster moves, but the cooldown is MUCH worse on fsmash. It's subtle just Armada is always spacing himself just outside of fsmash range or just within enough range to punish if it's attempted

It's like the most basic aspect of the Marth MU, and no good Marth is going to use fsmash unless it is totally safe (eg opponent is teching on platform above) or they are being stupid desperate

Silent Wolf is super smart and adaptive, he's definitely not all just tech skill. Last time he came to BC, I almost took a game off him and then he 4-stocked me endlessly, lol. :( It's really too bad he choked when it mattered most today, but 13th is still really solid for a tournament this difficult.

Really great showing by PPU, Leffen, and Overtriforce too! :D It's awesome to finally see Over have an awesome run through! <3

Javi has to be the smasher that smiles the most regardless of winning or losing, it's good to see he had such a blast.

Also mad props to over, I had faith you would do well but you did better than I expected (im a bit of a pessimist sorry!) Good stuff getting so far man.

If evo has melee I'll defs be there for the whole evo + genesis 3 weekend.

even watching the stream at work on my phone with no sound was hype

From what I saw Shroomed definitely smiles the most, lol. Javi seems like an really good sport though, and of course, was incredible to watch.

Thanks for those donations, Redact. Apex was all the more hype for it.

Happy to donate to a Redact EVO/Genesis fund.
