Let's get started! Talk about Falco in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Discuss his gameplay, ask questions about him, whatever.
Here's his introductory video on the official website.
As a starting point, animation changes and his new Final Smash shown in the Smash Ultimate's Direct and in his introductory video.

As a starting point, animation changes and his new Final Smash shown in the Smash Ultimate's Direct and in his introductory video.
- In the Direct, Falco is shown with new Final Smash, new forward roll animation, new neutral/forward jump animation, and new Down Smash animation.
- Falco along with everyone else really, had his Final Smash reworked. This time, Falco truly shows his preference for the air and hops into his Arwing for a barrage of lasers on his opponents and a spinning drill attack.
- During the Squid Sisters' showing, Falco's new forward roll animation can be seen where instead of sharing Fox's cartwheel animation, Falco rolls forward and ends with a pose. You'll definitely want to slow down the video since it happens right as the Squid Sisters are zoomed out.
- Also during the Squid Sisters' showing, Falco's new neutral/forward jump animation is shown off. In the previous games, Falco would jump with his arms behind him and body angled slightly forwards and follows with a counterclockwise spin, from his left to his right, with his arms down. In the Direct, Falco jumps with his left arm up and right arm down, his head looking upwards more, and follows with a counterclockwise spin, but with his hands raised to his shoulders.
- When Falco and Luigi demonstrate the ability to use Smash attacks to cancel a dash, Falco's Down Smash animation is different from Smash 4, Brawl, and Melee where instead of leaning towards his leading leg, Falco leans towards his center and the screen more. You might want to slow down the video to catch this since it's a very short clip. To me, it resembles Fox's Down Smash animation in Brawl.
- In his introductory video, Falco is shown with a new sidestep, Reflector holster animation, Blaster holster animation, a new rapid jab finisher, a new back roll, and a slightly changed dash attack.
- Falco's sidestep no longer shares an animation with Fox's where he crouches down, instead, Falco takes a step back. Reflector's new holster animation can also be seen here where Falco stands more upright than in the previous games.
- Falco's holstering animation was changed to resemble his Melee animation. Instead of raising his Blaster high and shoving it back into its holster like in Brawl and Smash 4, Falco twirls it back into its holster. Here's Melee Falco's Blaster holster animation: https://www.ssbwiki.com/images/d/df/Falco_Neutral_Special_Hitbox_Melee.gif. The difference from Melee is that Falco twirls while raising his Blaster while in Melee, Falco raises Blaster then twirls it. Slow down the video since it happens quickly.
- Falco's jab 1 and jab 2 animations were changed. With jab 1, Falco keeps his head away from his opponent unlike in the previous games where he stepped forward with his head into the attack. Similarly, Falco keeps his head low and closer to his body while doing jab 2.
- Falco's new rapid jab finisher is a spinning axe kick where he slams his heel down onto his enemies and recovers with a slick backflip. It sort of resembles his old Side Smash back in Melee. You'll also want to slow this down since rapid jabs and finishers seem to be much faster than in previous games. His old rapid jab finisher from Smash 4 was a turnaround backslash to conclude his series of spinning slashes that is his rapid jab.
- Falco's new back roll is a backwards somersault followed by a back step. Once gain, slow this down to see since Fox does cover a bit of the animation. Maybe it's the close up, but it looks like it covers a lot of distance and the back step or specifically, a longer recovery animation, might be something all other characters will have to make rolls more punishable.
- Falco's dash attack has had a slight animation change. Instead of having his left wing out and parallel to his kicking leg like in the previous games, Falco crosses it over his body.
