A couple things to keep in mind:

Tier lists are primarily made by people who main that character, and as such, while rooted in reality, are still somewhat biased.

Secondly, Yoshi's recovery is easier to gimp than I had previously thought. Friday I was footstooled during my second jump (Right after the SA frames started), meaning that for some reason, while you can't be hit out of SA, you can in fact be footstooled out, which is absolute BS. I was pissed...

If you depend on your SA Frames, then you deserve to be Gimped.

That's NOT how you recover with Yoshi

I think a tier list based entirely on matchups could be more accurate than one based on tournament rankings.

QFT

hell, Cpt Falcon could be top tier based on the current system if enough people were nasty at him at tournaments

Well, I depend on a second jump... All I'm saying is I didn't know I could be footstooled out of SA frames. It was kind of my "go to" when being edge guarded. Seriously, that was kind of a shock...

Um, fromundaman? You do know that the foot-stool is always 100% avoidable, right? Just air-dodge or attack. o_O

I dont get the footstool argument, footstool can gimp pretty much anyone's recovery if done at the right time (except ROB, Sonic, and possibly MK)

and with Yoshi's air speed it's pretty hard to do....and right impossible from my experience if you do a rising air dodge to the stage....so why does everyone go up in arms about it in the very few times it happens?

Yoshi is low tier because none of you peeps have proved otherwise.
*Has placed 3rd in tournament using all yoshi*
*Looks at tournament results thread to see other yoshis placings*

What?

"Why is Yoshi low Tier?"

he has nothing broken with him

been doing some matches...and it seems that everyone i face as yoshi has some technique that can be highly abusable (dolphin blade, sheik-lock, inf grabs, etc) that just put one character way over others

Yoshi has nothing like that besides a chain grab that only works on a few characters where that actually saves him.

(might be venting a bit here....just had some stupid brawls <.<)

well yeah, good yoshis are broken :p

but otherwise its so much easier to just go on as peach and spam turnips till you get bombs/items and float away or sheik-lock someone than it is to learn the best character :/

exactly, thats why he has the percieved low tier status

im pretty sure if you only have one bad matchup (curse you G&W.....), you're not low tier :p

It's mainly a shock that it CAN be done as Yoshi.

But let's give a scenario for a second: ROB comes off stage to Nair me. I airdodge, fall right below him due to it, go to second jump, and BAM, footstooled. Now with any other character, I have at LEAST one more jump left to make it back, or at least attempt to. My problem with Yoshi's is that A) I didn't know it could happen wth SA frames, and B) I have no triple jump to fall back on when it does happen.

Yeah, I know it's rare, but still.

Don't get me wrong, my Yoshi isn't good, but he's not bad either (You can check on my youtube if you want. I use the same name as here and the videos should be done loading soon.)

super armor is things like ikes aether that cant even be broken with a ganon punch.

heavy armor are things like yoshis jump and snakes cypher where a strong enough attack will knock them out of it

Exactly what I was going to say (if I saw this fast enough).

Seriously, what do you want as "proof"? I have always seen from smashers that us Yoshi mains have never gave anyone proof on his potential. It is really annoying. >.<

Super Armor gives you immunity to ALL knockback, no matter HOW powerful the attack is.

Heavy Armor gives you immunity only to WEAK attacks ~8% and less while you will get knocked out of more powerful attacks.

It's quite a simple concept. :ohwell:

I've flown through some meteors I believe with yoshi's heavy armor, at low percents it's pretty nifty. I also think it's better than snake's armor, heavier or something idk. But yeah shouldn't rely on armor
