Both work. In shield and not in the shield.

If someone is standing on a platform on top of you, short hop and N air them off of it. They will tumble down onto the ground and that is when you fully execute your jab lock. The N air also tends to shield poke, so it is probably the most useful setup out of the existing ones for a jab lock...

Sorry but I really hate your style. For everything you wrote, spam him with z air/missiles. Cmon Samus isn't at all about that. I prefer her close range and my matchup list is different because of that. The only matchups I struggle with are diddy, link and possibly game and watch.
