That's not too out of the question. I used to do that back when I played an FPS and you had to input a button for each shot of a certain gun. I got to 20 once.

Have you ever timed how fast you can mash a button? >_>

I assumed that he used the C-stick for all aerials other than Nair, and judging by his momentum while executing these aerials I think that's a safe assumption.

Yeah I'm back calculating APM for 4/5 stock flawless matches :D I like to calculate APM for those kinds of matches because those numbers would be closest to the highest possible APM. Still, I guess marth isn't a techy character :p

Taj doesn't use the c-stick for aerials. You also might want to pick another match, since that one isn't really representative of his on-stage movement.

Letting go of the control stick and the jump button don't really count as actions..

Then again it's debatable when you're spamming action-heavy techniques that require precision.

To err on the low side, I'd estimate his APM is 391 (halved)

It'd be ~ 469 or 470 if you don't count letting go of the control stick and jump button. I would say that since he's doing each FC nair in 1/3rd of a second that it should count, though, since it's definitely a LOT harder than just holding down and tapping jump + a over and over.

doing apm for one technique is dumb lol, let alone an easy one. advancing shine turn around jc shines or shine fast fall fade back dairs with fox would get the highest apm other than just pressing a a lot or mashing all the buttons or something else dumb

excuse me, silent wolf, but did you say that repeated, quick float cancel nairs were easy?
i stopped reading there...

also, a correction to my previous post: fc nair is actually 6 actions, since armada has to fast fall... or 4 if you don't count letting go of x/y or resetting control stick to neutral. so that would be.... 939 APM for 6 actions per fc nair, 626 APM for 4 actions per fc nair.
frame perfect it's 1200 for 6 and 800 for 4 rofl.

I just did some tests and fast falling after the fc nair is considerably faster than not.

How do you calculate the APM?

Do you use a tool or action replay or something?

Or is this simple watch a video with all the actions and take the match time and then do the math?

Taj doesn't use the c-stick except for very few cases (I think it's for situational smash attacks).

One time, his c-stick got jammed and he didn't even notice until half an hour into playing.

domination is definitely not legit, though; you can slide two fingers across A back and forth to get a ridiculously high score, plus it doesn't count other inputs (fastest way to make characters say their names, too ;))

show me some thundering dynamo and i'll be real impressed haha

just a question: how will the pause between when a person dies and the other guy waiting affect the APM?

I fast fall every single peach FC I do, without exception. Literally. This is the only way to do a perfect nair pillar (without using jabs) on a shield. But not that most peaches arent as concerned about tech skill, and so its possible that shinobi wasnt fast falling them, but then again we dont really know. I know a lot of peach's with good jab pillar that neglect the fast fall.


a good float canceled nair is the following actions-

Press and hold jump.
(while holding jump) Press down for float.
(while holding jump) Release down.
(while holding jump) Press and release A/Z for nair.
Release jump.
Press down for fastfall.


edit: oh and I guarantee that if you did one of these for Eggm's fox it would blow everyone else out of the water. I'm sure silent wolf would do the same.

Zhu's APM

Well since Zhu is probably my favorite Falco I decided to do the APM of his match vs M2K at Genesis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2Oe2JcBV-g

The match was 3:15 seconds long but I subtracted 4 seconds as those were the seconds that Zhu was dead and not able to make an input.

As always, I'm not perfect but I collected the data the best I could. :)

I know you only measure effective APM(as in, things that actually make a difference in game) but I know that when M2K is in hit lag, he'll spam the C-Stick to get out a smash as fast as he can. It would e interesting to record the controller and count from there the total APM, not just the effective APM.

get out of a smash....? and hitlag is like 2-4 frames... how can he spam the c-stick unless it's like Zelda's fsmash or something?

well if he's in hitstun he's likely in the air, and he can't use a smash during hitlag because it's hitlag, and before you get hit by the knockback of a move <_<
