A recent match I got with a friend. Despite the random glitching I pulled with squirtle, help is appreciated. Sry if this is the wrong place for critiques.

Very well played. I was wondering why you switched out Charizard. I switch him out too in this match up, but I want to hear your take on it :-P. The only thing I saw that you may have already seen in hindsight was around 2:30 second, at the rock transformation. Diddy Kong really excels when there's nowhere for you to land but on bananas. I think you should have just left, and waited for the the stage to change again

Btw, this video is starting to make me feel that Squirtles Withdraw is [Pun]Super Effective[/Pun] against Diddy Kong and his **** bananas.

Eww you can get side b'd out of that? I'd have thought you'd be too low

edit: I just tested it. You can't be side b'd out of it

The only way you'd be side-b'd out of it is if you're doing it in the air, which isn't exactly why I'd want to do this move. I'd do it to close distance between me and the diddy, without worrying about slipping.

It doesn't take long for them to start easily grabbing you out of it. Or jumping on top of you.
As with almost everything in this game, it doesn't take long for people to adjust. When I say something is good, I don't necessarily mean it's spam worthy :-P.

If you say you have videos, then I believe you. But I'm trying like hell to do it in training mode and diddy kong just keeps flying over me lol

You probably have to start the side-b as late as possible?

Glide toss away, throwing the banana down should still let him grab you. I dunno, I wouldn't use Withdraw more than once or twice in a set.

I switched because I don't like having to use Charizard in a matchup where he'll get pressured hard. Diddy is too fast for Zard to keep up imo, and it's worse to use Zard to get stage control. As for withdraw, I only use it randomly to keep from getting grabbed or hit most of the time. I find it good sparingly.

Does anyone really have Infinite Jumping down? I haven't seen it in any vids
I was just about to ask the same thing. Pretty sure Miles has a video, but I've never seen it used in a match.

There were a couple of times in those matches where I really thought your Charizard should have glid under the stage to the other side. It actually worked out for you in these matches though because you both ended up dying, but is there a reason why you don't do that?

It normally gets read that I am going under, my friends know the match up, and well if you get hit by mk going that low you dont come back so I opt to try and trade.

Idk

I should try it more, just in a safer way I suppose.

I usually start charizard with fox all the time. You gotta play smarter with him. Seriously stay on the ground and you have to avoid all his short hop fairs cause he'll shield poke the hell out of you. When he is off the edge flamethrower him. You have to beat him with your grabs...and remember when you guys are running at each other you're probably going to get usmashed ha. So stop a little earlier and shield ;)

but entertaining fights :)

and how many entered singles for the tourney?

Uptilt, huh? Thanks, Miles; I definitely don't use that move very often and need to explore more ways of using it.

Haha, yeah, I learned after those games that DK had invincibility on his up B there...not gonna make that mistake again. XD

I just wanted to say that I'm going to start making use of my digital camera to upload matches, both friendlies and tournament matches.

You can expect those to start coming in relatively soon.

EDIT: Here's a friendly from about a week ago~

This is between myself and Kismet.

I hope you all enjoy.

Im not overly thrilled about posting these as usual but I need feedback. I know I need to watergun camp harder and I need to stop my signature watergunning the wrong way.

Overall I think Im learning the snake matchup alot more but d-throw tech chasing is a nightmare......so gimme some feedback guys I really think Im getting the snake and MK matchups down

Kith, when you're playing charizard vs MK, dont rush so much trying to get attacks off. just let him come to you for the most part. you'll connect your moves a lot easier (grabs and rs) :)

****, try getting more grabs on snake with squirtle and stop fair, bair him with grenades in his hand! just play a little bit smarter and your game will improve a ton. when he is throwing the grenades try jumping around dodging more to avoid them instead of just standing there shielding and taking hits.

learn ivy a more, he is actually good with camping snakes who like to use lots of grenades. and bullet seed ***** him.

your charizard wasn't to bad just remember get to the ground asap when you're in the air. flamethrower is good to keep him at bay but remember use your grabs as much as possible and get off him the edge. charizards best game when snakes are recovering.

@****,

When you're playing Squirtle vs. Snake, it really has to be a match about camping and patience. From watching your videos, I have a feeling you already know that, but sometimes you get a little impatient and you want to f-air and hope he doesn't shield in time. You definitely have to get over the impulse in this match-up. One mistake can be 1/4 of the way to your death percentage...

When I play Squirtle against Snake, my main priority is to get him to the ledge, ASAP. F-tilt and Water gun are both amazing tools for this, F-tilt him once and watch him slide to the ledge. I'm gonna copy and paste what I wrote in the BR about this match-up...

"To me, Squirtle is amazing here, and Ivysaur can be good with proper spacing and shield pressure. This isn't one of those match-ups that you really have to settle for a pokemon who's not that great here (Unlike Marth, cause of stupid grab-release shenanigans). Snake is the one character who I have, by far, the most match-up experience with. I'm going to look at my videos and find out on average how much damage I give a Snake from the moment they grab the ledge until they land safely on the stage ^_^. Just try this next time you play a Snake as Squirtle...

Priority #1: Get them to the ledge. Watergun and F-tilt are amazing for this, but get them however you can.

#2: Once they're there, watch how they try to get up. If they look like they're get up attacking shield and throw them out again (or Fair...you have some artistic license here). If they roll behind you, then...turn around and throw them back.

Most often, however, they're going to try to jump from the ledge, back onto the stage, maybe with or N-air or airdodge. When you see them start to jump onto the stage, short hop but DONT attack. That's the common mistake here. A lot of people will try to short hop f-air them as they do this. This allows the snake to airdodge past you. Just empty short hop and see what they do. If they airdodge, punish.
N-air? DI away and punish
Back air? Watch them land face first in front of you and then punish.
Nothing? Wait for him to be just about to land, then grab him and throw him off again.

Squirtle really does have the ability to cover almost all of Snake's options from the ledge, as long as we're smart enough to not throw out attacks before we're sure we know what he's up to."
