I don't know if you know this, but BigSharkZ has been doing a lot of this. (E.g. Tetra out of Toon Link.)
I don't think it is quite the same thing. I am pretty sure BSZ is doing editing around the characters vertexes, and moving stuff around. What I am trying to do is restore the character to it's original form with the model over top of it, so that it essentially plays like a normal character. Right now I am testing it on Knux for simplicity, because he is similar in shape to Sonic and whatnot. However, what I did notice was that when you replace a bone with more joints underneath it, the ones under it are deleted. I'm still going to test this, but it looks like we are going to be needing Kryal's help on this one.

Hrm... I could only edit a few bones. Aside from making Knux's dreads look a bit like Sonic's spines, nothing really interesting happened, and he still can't be used.

Thunderspam, the bone structure and the model are a single file. Specific sets of vertices are connected to each bone. I highly doubt that sonic and knuckles have the same amount of vertices, each of them being in the same relative position in the array. Even if they did, I don't think it's possible to swap bone structures at all using the tools we have.

Once we figure out how to convert a know 3D model file like blender or 3ds to mdl0, then all of our problems will be solved... maybe.

It's relatively simple in PSA. However, it needs a bit more shaping up.

I've weakened the Devil's fsmash and dair, which seem to be his two major problems.

Now, I'll begin work on his specials.

And I thought of a shield idea!

It goes like this: he inhales during his Down-B, which charges up his shield (I'll activate the shield with L and R). Then, when he shields, he strikes a singing pose and holds such a beautiful note (I'll use the GFX that is a circle of music) that he cannot be hurt. :chuckle:

Just FYI, progress on Meta Ridley will be slowed down for a bit. I finally got my recording software and all that, and I'm WAY behind on my machinima. So, I need to catch up on that before I can refocus on Meta.

Similarly, I also resumed an old moveset I was working on, which I'm also a bit overdue on. But this won't take priority over our favourite cyborg dragon, so don't worry.

Hello all,

Am new to SmashBoards but am really impressed by the amount of talent here. Can't say I know much about programming/3d design yet, but I guess I can offer my thoughts and critiques on what's going on.

Regarding new characters based on npc's, I've downloaded Knuckle Joe and Ridley. When I tried Ridley it crashed on me but it was my own fault and I realized what I did wrong.

But I can give my thoughts on KJ. I think he looks and feels very polished, I was expecting him to be buggier and glitch-ier but he only crashed on me when I tried to put two of them against each other.

As for things I would change: I believe that since these characters are unable to block or pickup weapons, they should have some strengths to balance that out. The way I'd do KJ is to change some of his normal attacks (neutral and tilt, maybe air) to what are currently mapped to his smashes and make his smashes much stronger attacks. I think that the rapid punches for his side smash would be ideal for a neutral attack, because it isnt that strong anyways and and giving him stronger attacks would make him a formidable opponent. I think right now he works great as a novelty, but I would not expect to win against an experienced human playing a real character.

I think for all of these characters they should have very strong attacks so that they are taken seriously. Maybe they'll never be truly balanced, but at least there'd be a reason to want to play them besides the novelty aspect.

But even if you didn't do any of that, it still looks great as a character, and I really liked his grab!

Yes and no (I think). If the new character replaces a current character (like Olimar) it's possible to put the new character in the CSS where Olimar would be. As for adding more squares to the selection screen, I don't know. It was done for sheik/ZSS/pokes, but I don't know how many empty spaces are left. Anyone know?

I did some combing through these pages but I'm a bit confused. If anyone can fill me in I'd really appreciate it...

I would like to have alloys in my game, and would eventually like to put other people's creations over them.

Now all I have to do it throw those codes into my .gct file? What will that accomplish? Where will my alloys be? Does it replace certain characters or something?

Oh, I thought you made an actual code for the specials. I would still like to know how you did it, though. Perhaps once you finish you could tell me?

EDIT: @Owa5489: They are in the bottom row of the Character Select Screen, replacing Falcon, Mario, Kirby, and Zelda, respectively.

EDIT2: I updated the OP with the Alloy codes that won't wreck your music.

Oh and about the Character select screen; yes its possible to add portraits; however they all reference to existing chars, so you can't have new characters, you have to replace alloys, who you can make spots for on the screen.

Hi, I'm working on a Isaac model (yes I know he has been worked on) but when i heard thatguyyoumightknow was making him but had to finish knucle joe first, I decided to start working on him on my own, I readed all the tutorials and finally get him to work, he is a beta, but he has a moveset and a little of a PSA,he is over Blue Alloy.

I uploaded it if you want a playable Isaac while we wait for the thatguyyoumightknow's Isaac

Might want to update the front page since Elite Smash Hackers already have the Meta-Ridley beta up.

I don't have any way of recording anything of decent quality, unfortunately. There was a thread in the workshop of a user offering to make PSA recordings, but I can't seem to locate it right now. Try searching around for it.

I found another glitch that isn't in the vid, if you sorta do a mix of an ftilt and either a utilt or dtilt he'll T-pose.
Thanks for the video, is really good.

Yes, he has 2 times in wich he'll T-pose, I'm working on them, and maybe a different slow walking animation.

Now tell me what you think of him, what could be changed or improved.

Thanks for the video. I just got out of classes for the day, so hopefully I'll try him some time this evening. Going by what's shown in the video, though, he seems like he has decent moveset for a full Isaac, should specials really start working with alloy characters. In the meantime, you could fix his moving animations so that his scarf doesn't act weird and just polish some of the other animations, but there's not anything glaringly horrible in that department either, really. Nice work.

To be exact what I mean is what makes Nana follow popo, take damage like popo, appear on the screen like popo, pretty much what is Nana really? I am trying out somethings and I was wondering if it is something very complexe or its something simple with in Popo's.pacs and I'm just being stupid.

I apoligize for my long leave (if anyone noticed) >_> i got a new wii game for christmas and had to update it but since id been hacking it so much it caused it to be bricked so i am now getting it fixed untill then i will be meeting with some friends so i can use their wii ^^ anyway i first gotta say that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE!! the following characters: Hoppip, ekans, nanog, dugtrio, dialga, snover, mespirit, gradivior, mew, knuckle joe and isaac

AMAZING WORK EVERYONE

now for what im currently working on

Me and my friends are currently making Smash Bros halo maps
The twist is when you get on the map it will be facing sideview so you can see the
characters also we will be making from scratch some of the classic mario characters
ans some brawl characters (you will be able to choose) the first map were planning on doing is final destination and were taking away all guns(get over it if u care >_<) and keeping it just fighting were also gunna try to add all the moves you can usually do

2nd we are also working adding more human looking characters into brawl like the people in this game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMYa5hDm4SU&feature=related also we will be making custom characters from scratch into the game (if possible) my friend is very experienced in 3dsMax and all those programs so making the models will be very easy just getting them to work with the brawl characters will be tough

3rd when i get my wii back im going to attempt a pokemon model hack i dont really know who yet but i know it will be a pokemon btw if Anyone knows how to get a working dolphin(Wii) emulator that would be great id like to continue hacking as soon as i can

I made a thread on their animation "binding" and Vile and TheSilenceOfNoOne said they would look into it, but I haven't heard anything about it for a while.

Hmm I see because I am setting something up and I made everything just like the Ice climbers Pac and I know I'm so close I just need to know what makes Nana appear in the game. She has her own model in Popo's Pac and it has specail settings. I match everything up I just need the thing that will make the character appear.
