FOW got top 3 at WGF with ness and MK (im not sure if he got 1st, 2nd or 3rd, he was in winners finals vs m2k).
The only matches i can confirm he went ness in (because i saw them) were vs havoks marth, and he beat richbrown with ness as well. But if he went ness vs havoks marth (by far ness' worst matchup) i would assume he was feeling confident enough to go ness most of his other matches (he beat tyrant and such).

The Diddy match up is interesting. Diddy can do anything with his bananas. One of my good buddies mains Diddy and he is so random with his Diddy because each round he completely changes his tactics.

Diddy has no set-up into his infinite. It's also harder, does less damage (thus taking a lot longer) and is very easy for ZSS to avoid.

All ZSS has to do to set her's up is land a neutral B (small one) and it's game on. It also does a lot of damage very quickly so even if you mess up in the middle, you did a lot of damage.

And ZSS wins the match-up without bananas.

Diddy is actually a weird character that could drop REALLY far down if people took the time to learn. As far as I know, every character is capable of these footstool infinites with just one banana.

I mean... it doesn't even look that hard to execute... So... if everyone learned it, Diddy could drop a reasonable amount on the list, right? Although he probably will stay relatively high, considering Diddy has the superior item pickup range.

The fact that the BBR is even discussing this again is a joke. Let's face it, they'll never ban him. He's just not broken because other characters win big tourneys. Oh wait, they already banned one unbeatable technique and micro-banned grabbing the ledges a certain number of times across the board because of him and those characters only won said tourneys because of the micro-bans.

The current state of the game with MK legal and all of these bans to make it reasonable is an even bigger joke. We'd be better off playing vs. mode in Yoshi's Cookie, honestly.

That was noted back then as well: the dominance of MK in doubles was quite clear early on. 1 big concern brought up would have been the lack of uniformity for leaving him in the game for singles, but not doubles. The other argument was "Well MK always wins doubles because the best players play MK".


Also, real talk for all the people who hyped FOW vs M2K for over 6 hours:

I hate you all with the passion of an Omnipresent God who is utterly and entirely displeased with your very existence. I watched M2K basically gay the crap out of Ness with grab releases, shuttle loop, and Dair and this was supposed to be hyped just because FOW beat people along the way? I'm disappointed in some of you for thinking that would be a close set. No disrespect to FOW, but jesus the last time I heard people this exited was back in the day when people thought Bowser or Yoshi went even with MK. This kind of baloney is getting old.
