Rate Their Chances Day Fifty-Nine: Cynthia and Tetris Block

[COLLAPSE="If you haven't read this, do so now before voting"] Show
History: This series was started by LuigiKong which he first did with Super Smash Bros. Brawl on GameFAQs. Out of the ten characters that was placed as most likely, seven got in some way or form, which it was ran in some way or form over a year before the game got released. He is currently doing the same thing for Super Smash Bros. 4 over at GameFAQs as well, which was started on June 9, 2011 at 12:09:26 AM EST and continues to this date. Being a huge fan of this concept, I am actively involved in the majority of the polls, but I was displeased at his lack of control over troll votes and votes made to deliberately push up a character's score because they disagree with others. That and I consider Smashboards to have some of largest comparitive of strong debaters (In a large forum with a considerable focus on Smash that is) and as such, I think the opinions expressed here would make more realistic indication of a character's chances (Even thought I know that in the end, these are guesses). Another purpose is that it's nice to hear other people's opinion on this and discuss your thoughts on this.

How this works: Every day, I will give out two candidates, a veteran and a newcomer, in which the poll opens at 8:30 PM CST and ends at 8:30 PM CST (This varies depending on if I can make it to the computer on time) on the next day. After today, all candidates will be decided based on nominations that people make of who they want to rate. You can nominate up to five people (You are able to use up to five nominations on a person as well. But this not including both veterans and newcomers. You get five nominations for newcomers and five nominations for veterans.) and you can also predict the score of next day's candidate starting on Day Two (This is to prevent giving people who does the math work to automatically get the right answer. Also, predictions can only be done on newcomers and certain veteran characters.). So how does nominations work? For example, let's say that Ridley gets ten nominations, Bowser Jr. gets seven nominations, Takamaru gets five nominations, and Mega Man gets four nominations. On Day Two, Ridley will be the potential newcomer that we rate while Bowser Jr. waits to get rated on Day 3 and as such, will no longer receive nominations. Takamaru and Mega Man, on the other hand, since they were behind both Ridley and Bowser Jr., can still receive nominations on Day Four and so long along with other candidates that are nominated.

To rate a character, you can rate one from 0% to 100%. Providing that you explain your votes why you voted for a character (Not always necessary, but if your opinion could be looked as a troll vote, it might be good to give a good explanation why, although it is always encouraged you explain your vote), you aren't troll voting, or you are voting high or low purely to bring the average of a character's that you think is likely or unlikely, I will accept any votes. When the day ends, I will average the votes made on probability and group characters into groups of likelihood base on average, which are:

Probable (80.00%-100%)
Considerable (60.00%-79.99%)
Marginal (40.00%-59.99%)
Slim (20-39.99%)
Very Unlikely (0-19.99%)

Probable: This character stands a very good chances of getting in. Obstacles, if any, are not major and it has a lot going for his inclusion.

Considerable: Not as clear cut as a probable character, but is more likely then not getting in. A few obstacles here and there the characters has to worry about, but not something to push it into more murky territories.

Marginal: Kind of unlikely. The character has an outside shot of getting in as a playable character, but there are some major issues that could prevent it getting in.

Slim: Possible that the character can get in, but chances are not good at all. There are more things going against this character then going for it and as such, should not be expected.

Very Unlikely: Very few, if anything, are going for this character's inclusion. It is going to need a long shot to become a playable character.

Whoever was the closest to predict an On Deck candidate when the overall score for said candidate is revealed will have ten nominations for Newcomers and/or Veterans (It is possible to win in both).

During the day, you can change your vote, your predictions, and your nominations until the time is up. Once it reaches the end, you cannot change your vote/predictions/nominations and this character will never again be up for rating as the score has been decided. Since this forum is fortunate enough to have editing ability, I will be able to add in nominations and update my original thread when I have time to do so.

Optionally, you can also rate how much you want the character in SSB4, but these will not be ranked and instead be put with the character (I'll rank based on how wanted the character is). While the likeliness poll applies to veterans and newcomers, this only applies to newcomers and Melee characters that were cut. These are the options:

Deserving (5)
Wanted (4)
Neutral (3)
Unwanted (2)
Against (1)

The final results will be shown for how much in general (For at least this thread) people want a character. These are what the characters could fall into once the final result is given:

Deserving (4.50-5)
Wanted (3.50-4.49)
Neutral (2.50-3.49)
Unwanted (1.50-2.49)
Against (1.00-1.49)

Actually, you don't even need to vote in this poll if you don't want to, although it is recommended if you do post, you try without bias to rate the character in terms of likeliness. You can either vote for the character's likelihood, vote for how much you want the character, predict the next day candidate, and/or nominate future candidates.

Rules: 1. Troll voting and votes that are attempts to highten or lower the score because you don't like where it is now is prohibited and will not be counted. If you have no idea what the character is, either look up who he is or do not vote.

2. Nominations must be on character with video game origins or a character with at least one appearance on Nintendo consoles. So that means nominations for Master Chief and Naruto won't count because they will never be in SSB4. However, this rule does not exclude cases like Rare characters that have appeared on Nintendo consoles but are part of other companies so Banjo-Kazooie, Conker, and others can still be rated.

3. Please do not fight with each other. You are of course, are allowed to debate with each other on the likelihood of characters, but that is not an invitation to flame, insult, or attack someone for disagreeing with you.

4. This is obvious, follow all site rules.

5. Do not let biasness affect how likely a candidate is in a noticeable way. If you're confident that you can't fairly rate a character, just rate how much you want him and call it a day. Your #1 most wanted character should not get 100% in likeliness from you just because you want him in nor can you rate a character you're bitterly against getting in as a playable character a 0% in likeliness. These will not be counted. Rates based on likeliness should be as non-bias as possible and only providing evidence on how likely or unlikely a candidate is.

So with that all said, let's begin![/COLLAPSE][COLLAPSE="Ranking"]Likelihood (Veterans):

What are On Deck candidates?:

These are candidates that will be up for reviewing the very next day. They got their due to receiving the most nominations the previous day. You cannot rate how likely they are, but you can predict the overall average they get the next day when rating for them starts.

Who can we predict the scores for to earn more nominations?:

Any newcomers can have their scores predicted and whoever is the closest will earn five nominations for newcomers. In some cases, veterans can also have their scores predicted, but not all of them can. Those who are almost universally regarded as guarantee will never be predicted as everyone would be expected 100% on them, making those candidates more of "Who predicts 100%" first then actually analyzing their chances. However, all cut Melee vets can have their scores predicted since they are not guarantee to return These vets can be rated since their chances have seen some disputes:

Dr. Mario
Diddy Kong (solo)
Young Link
Toon Link
Falco
Wolf
Jigglypuff
Pokemon Trainer (1st Gen)
Pichu
Mewtwo
Lucario
Ness
Lucas
Ike
Roy
R.O.B.
Snake
Sonic

I love the concept of Rate Their Chances, but I'm forgetful and may miss a day. Is there a way that I can be reminded?

Sure. If you want, I can send you a PM every day telling you all necessary information (Results of previous day, important information, and who you can vote). You may cancel this if you have no more need of this.

I missed a day. Can I still rate the character?

As I'm always interested in hearing opinions of others on characters, yes you can still rate the character, but they will not affect the average since they came after the day when rating on them was suppose to be done.

I was the closest to predicting the polled candidate score, but I predicted the score after the first candidates? Do I get nominations?

You still get nominations, but not as much. For example, if you were the first to be the closest predict Toad's score, you get five newcomer nominations. If you were the second person to having the closest prediction (Like the first person with five nominations), you earn three newcomer nominations. Be the third and onward you only get one more newcomer nominations. This also applies to veterans who's chances can be rated.

I was right on the score of the newcomer/veteran candidate? Do I get anything extra?

Yes. Instead of ten nominations, you get to have fifteen nominations.

Is there ever going to be a restart in Rate Their Chances?

There will be a restart done after E3 2012 due to requests from people who follows this series.

Note this; the newcomers and vets revealed at the trailer will never receive ratings here as they are confirmed to be playable (So what's the point?). Newcomers and vets who also can't be rated are potential candidates who get confirmed before they enter Rate Their Chances and in the rare case a character is in the process of being rated and that character is confirmed during the day, I will cancel that day and move on to the next candidate (Meaning if King K. Rool was in the hypothetical reboot being rated and gets confirmed while it is his turn to be rated, I will cancel that day and immediately go to the next candidate).

What will happen once we run out of veterans?

It's simple, we'll be doing two newcomer nominations per day to keep things fresh. Note that you will always be able to predict newcomers, so you have the opportunity to end up with up ten more nominations (Being able to have fifteen) in a day.

Do you plan to do a spin-off?

Maybe with Rate Their Stages if enough demands are made, although don't expect me to be rating chances there often.[/COLLAPSE]

Mario: 100% It's not Smash Bros without him.

Little Mac: 70%. I definitely think he has a chance. I'm against his inclusion though.

What format do I use for voting?

Anyway here goes:

Little Mac: (80%) Considerable

Why I chose Little Mac is simply because he's recently had his own title on the Wii, not to mention that he's a very popular character in the retro game known as Punch-Out, I believe since he was previously an AT in Brawl he could definetly be considered to be a playable character, why? Look at Charizard for example, he was previously only part of an item in both Melee and SSB64, yet knowing this Sakurai overlooked it and went ahead and promoted him as a playable character, this means any character that was previously an AT could possibly become "upgraded" to become a playable character, this includes Little Mac.

His chances overall are considerable.

Mario: 100% (Probable)

There's no doubt in my mind that this guy is in, if you doubt him in, you must have been living under a rock for the last 25 years!:/

The voting format is from 0% to 100%. You can put two decimal places in.

@Peach Kong: You did do the percentage part right for likeliness, but you can nominate up to five people (You can also make more then one nominations for a person, up to five on that person) for now. Day Two and so on will give you five more nominations, although they don't add up if you miss a day of nominations. Optionally, you can also use this format for how much you want a character in that is suggested (Newcomers and cut Melee characters). This will give it five all the way down to one point respectively and I will average it out:

Deserving (5)
Wanted (4)
Neutral (3)
Unwanted (2)
Against (1)

People, if you want to nominate a person, you can do that. You have up to five nominations which can be either spread around or concentrate on a few people (You can even put all five nominations on one person).

Mario

Let's say that you have a bet. That bet is that Mario gets in SSB4. If you win, the world will be absolutely perfect in your eyes and if you lose, the entire universe is destroyed. I'd suggest you take that bet because Mario is guarantee a spot in SSB4.

100%

Little Mac

Little Mac is among the most highly requested newcomers for SSB4 and also the most likely. First off, he is 100% relevant to the gaming universe, having received a successful game that sold over a million on the Wii called Punch-Out!!. Second, he's an Assist Trophy in SSBB and I'd imagine that the team will look at Assist Trophy character before other characters, which if they take full advantage of this, should land us seven new characters right off the bat from their. I'm not expected seven Assist Trophy characters to be playable, but if only one get upgraded, it's going to be him. Furthermore, he actually fights in boxing rings, which alone give him a ton of move set potentials. I'd be shocked if he remained an Assist Trophy considering that he has a lot going for him and nothing holding him back. I'd put a 100%, but there's always that extremely small chance Sakurai will screw up.

95%

Little Mac deserves to be in SSB4. As I've said before, he has a lot of move set potentials and is highly recognized. Next to no one is against his inclusion so his addition will please almost every Smash fan.

I vote Deserving.

My nominations are:
Mega Man (x1)
Ridley (x1)
King K. Rool (x1)
Ray (Custom Robo (x1)
Victini (x1)

One important thing I need to note.

But this not including both veterans and newcomers. You get five nominations for newcomers and five nominations for veterans.
So you basically have ten nominations, but they are split into two, five for newcomers and five for veterans.

Okay then, now I kinda understand the layout, but what's the point of having two candidates when you are obviously choosing other five?

Example so you understand:

Today's nomination:
•Mario & Little Mac

Your choices:
•Megaman
•K.Rool
•Victini
•Ray Mk
•Ridley

If that's the case my nominations are:

•Ray MkIII: (2x)
•The Black Knight (2x)
•Medusa (1x)

Let me know your input on this.

Okay, another important edit to note:
IMPORTANT said:
Also, predictions can only be done on newcomers and cut Melee characters unless an exception for a character is asked for.
If I'd allowed it on Brawl vets, everyone would predict the same score. I will only allow exceptions (Like in Lucario case) if the status of the character getting in is debatable and not likely to be guarantee.

@Yonder: That's an example of how to get your score not counted, although I'm sure you were fooling around.

@OmegaXVII: You have ten nominations that are split into two. The first half has five nominations for newcomers and the second half has five for veterans. I've already given my newcomers nominations, now for my Veteran nominations:

Young Link (x1)
Mewtwo (x1)
Roy (x1)
Dr. Mario (x1)
Pichu (x1)

Also, you did it right with having five newcomers nominated. BTW, you don't have to do veteran nominations, although they are suggested. Hopefully this clear things up a bit and I will try to further explain if it doesn't.

Mario 100% (Probable) Simply because he is one of the most renowned videogame mascots.

Little Mac 85% (Considerable) He is perfectly structured for this game. It doesn't take a rocket science to give him a moveset. I am still AGAINST him by opinion.

Veterans: Young Link. MewTwo. Dr.Mario. Roy. Pichu.

New Comers: Dr.Eggman. K Krool. Megaman. Rayman. Ridley.

@Alien Vision: You're almost there. However, technically, your Little Mac likeliness vote wouldn't count because it focuses on who you want instead of likelinees. If you want to vote on likeliness, you need to look at how likely the character is, not based off likeliness.

Your vote would more fit goes to the optional "How much do you want the character in?" section, which in this case, your vote would fall under Against. Do you mind if you want your popularity vote to fall under Against?

Edit: Much better. You at least gave him a rating based on likeliness.

The rest counts, thought. Your Mario votes, along with nominations will be added immediately. However, I'd like to know who Boy is. I have no clue what you're talking about.

Edit: Now you're doing it right, although an explanation of who Boy is would still be nice.

Edit 3: I did some looking and I had to remove Boy off the list, due to Dino City being loosely based off a video-to-direct movie. My rules do not allow for non-video game characters so unless I'm mistaken, you'll have to switch your nomination.

@SuperSmashBros. Fan: Okay let me get this straight, I voted my five(5) newcomers already, so now I have the option of choosing five(5) vets right?
Do vets from Brawl count?

Here are my Veteran nominations:

•Mewtwo (2x)
•Ganondorf (1x)
•Pokemon Trainer (1x)
•Ike (1x)

So basically the concept here is, we have the ability to nominate five(5) vets and five(5) newcomers for a total of ten(10) am I right? On top of that, also rate the chances of two(2) characters that are being rated which in today's case was Mario and Little Mac right?

Please correct me if I'm misunderstanding.

You are able to nominate five newcomers and five vets in the same post, so yes you can nominate up to ten people.

Brawl vets most certainly count. That means your nomination counts. Every day, we also rate two characters, one is a vet and another is a newcomer.

Mario - 100%...nuff said

Little Mac 90% - as a pretty detailed AT (not to mention at the time he hadn't had a game in a long time) I would say he was pretty likely. But add on the fact that he now has his own game on the Wii, it pretty much adds the fact that his series got revitalized.

my 5 newcomer nominations (Geno, Ridley, K. Rool, Krystal, Balloon Fighter)
5 vet nominations (Ike, ROB, Wolf, Diddy [solo], Lucario)

Mario - 100%. The single undisputed most iconic Nintendo mascot worldwide. This guy has been in all the trailers and has pioneered the very concept of Super Smash Brothers. I vote him Deserving.

Little Mac - 85.99%. Being an Assist Trophy, it is clear that Sakurai knows of Little Mac's existence. He is a fairly well-known character that has existed for quite a while and is both iconic and relevant, having had his own recent game and a number of Cameos. I gave him an 85.99% because his chances of inclusion are the highest possible B (school grade-wise) without being an A, merely due to a slight lack of faith in Sakurai's judgement. As he had stated something about Little Mac not being interesting enough for a full moveset (all he does is punch), I'm not sure I can give him an A, though he deserves a spot. I vote him Deserving.

4 nominations for K. Rool.
I'll throw 1 in for Jigglypuff.

-1 for Ridley, Saki, Mega Man and K Rool. Lol. I didn't know you can put 5 votes on one character.

You have ten nominations, five for newcomers and five for veterans. Do you want to use the rest of your nominations (You have one more newcomer nomination and four more veteran nominations)?
Also, has anybody nominated Vaati?
If you want to see Vaati rated, nominate him and wait until Vaati's turn come up.

Trying my hand at this.

Little Mac - 75%
Mario - 100%

Nominees - Roy, Fox, Ryu (SF), Megaman, Krystal
You've got it right, although I will mention you get five nominations for vets and five nominations for newcomers. Right now, you've already used two on vets and three on newcomers (Which can be changed until 8:30 PM CST) and you can choose whenever or not to use the rest of your nominations.

Mario is 100%. Nuff said.

Little Mac is more of an 80%. He has had a new game released within the past few years, and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out is one of the better remembered NES games.

Okay, well I'm assuming that the only reason Mario is even up there is to just get him out of the way. I guess I'll jump into the two characters.

Mario - 100% Chance of getting in. 5.0 in the deserving area. I don't have to explain that one.

Little Mac - 60% Chance of getting in. I like to err on the side of caution. He's one of the more stand out characters when it comes to all the little fanchise characters. But seeing as we really havent gotten much new franchise inclusion in the smash series. (We got three in brawl. Not including Sonic and Snake) So he is up against the other fifteen stand out hopfuls. Deserving, I would say 4.0. He's pretty cool I guess, and people like his games a lot.

I nominate Link, Pikachu, Kirby, Pit, and Lucario for the vets. (Just get them out of the way)

For the newcomers I nominate Genosect, Caeda, Krystal, Starfy, and Ashley(WarioWare).

@Shortiecanbrawl: NVM, thought you were contradicting yourself, but really weren't. I'll accept numerical answers from one to five if describing how much you want the character, providing you don't put in decimal answers.

And your correct, the only reason why I'm putting Mario out their is to get him out of the way. I plan on nominating vets who'll obviously be in the next game so we are left with characters with not as likely chances, which are more fun to discuss on. My vet nominations were merely examples.

Why Lip's not in the newcomers' list? Can you add her in, please? I'd like to see what other people think about her chances.

Here we go though:

Mario: 100%

Mario not in? He's becomed more better than ever, and he's gonna be in.

Little Mac: 79%

He's been revived well these days and is thus popular and known. Even if his game wasn't that popular in JPN, the rest of the world like him. He's also a fighter in character.
Add Doc Louis to aid him in the background, we're all set.

I say, he's deserving by prosent's of 4.1.

My nominations:

2x Starfy (Though I still prefer calling him Stafy from 2007-days of playing his games)
2xTakamaru
1x Toad

Veteran nominations... maybe next time.

@Young Horsetail: If you want Lip to be rated, you have to add her in by nominations. You will then have to continue to nominate her until she gets her turn. You can put up to five nominations on a character per day. So if you want to nominate Lip now, you can do that since I allow nominations changes until 8:30 PM CST along with votes.

Another reason why Lip is not on the newcomer list for now is because she hasn't been nominated yet. Once I get nominations for her, she will be on the list. Which is why others like Duck Hunt Dog haven't been mentioned yet.

Also, since you said 4.1, I'm going to put that as 4, since I don't allow decimals for rating how much you want the character.
