Hey, I started melee like a year ago and just started maining falcon (Link was my char) a month ago. Anyways, I have a partner (JayWalkingKirby) who has a sick Falco and I'm getting tired of playing his secondaries. He keeps up crazy *** shield pressure and closes the distance with lasers, not to mention he moves faster than me. What would you suggest against his Falco? Thanks guys.

Well I'm not too good with ANYONE and I don't use Falcon much. (dittos are fun) What about raptor booster? I can use it for tech chasing sometimes and to start combos but I don't know WHEN exactly.

sheik is really gay, watch me vs plank, try to learn as much as you can from that but i really don't have the matchup perfectly
get those edgeguards that i missed, get those uthrow knees that i miss, but the real hard part of the matchup is getting those hits in and punishing hard
marth and sheik are two matchups that you can only win if you have a solid offense. they are going to hit you more than you hit them, your only saving grace is that you are heavy and hard to kill (don't DI in vs ftilt @ like 90 though bc you have no chance of surviving that lol), and that you aren't combod AS EASILY as them
that said they **** you hard from grabs and they have a tendency to have long, drawn out, damage-dealing links that will hurt
spacing nairs is not as effective here as maybe vs fox and falco and low tiers, what's going to do more for you is using your superior maneuverability and picking your spots better than they pick theirs. work the platforms to your advantage vs sheik, stay away from yoshi's story vs marth (dtilt and tipper hurts too much, let them take you to fountain, seriously)
keep at it and you'll be okay, watch me, watch darkrain, watch hax, watch nes n00b, watch bigD, watch SS, and just take whatever you can that you think is smart
but don't just look and be like **** i wish i could do that or **** that was ****, look for LITTLE things that other people don't notice and figure out why it works or how you can use it or how you can make it even better
also watch vids of yourself and find out what you're doing wrong

Cf grabs a spacie at 0% on FD. If CF correctly predicts a tech in place from uthrow/dthrow can he punish it? What about punishing techroll away from a throw at 0%?

When is based on experience, we can tell u the exact frame rate and stuff on where they tech, but it won't help on ur game. Tech chasing with grabs are a lot easier to me. Just dthrow, step back and Dashdance, and reflex to the tech..

If falcon predicts any kind of tech from grab he can punish it against a spacey even if at 0%.

So i'm pretty decent against marth and falcos. But i can't do anything about foxes at all. Nair just beats everything i have. Also upsmash just ***** everything else that i can use to get past nair. Any tips?

as somebody who has falcon ditto'd nes n00b extensively, I can tell you that you can get some reads on him, but ultimately he will get more on you and he's going to outspace you, make better decisions, and he won't **** up ledge guards

it's beyond looking good or having some nice combos, it's learning during a game, picking up on style, making good choices, keeping your composure, predicting people, etc etc

yea, intentional missed techs can backfire hard vs certain players.
i've noticed a lot in recent vids of scar and hax that they both generally go for covering the in place tech/no tech options with an aerial (say stomp) and even if they opponent didnt do that, they just lcancel and react by chasing with a grab a lot. and it works a bunch because falcon is cool like that he can cover an option and still get you when you think you've bested him.

Is there anything people could conceivably punish me by reaction with for not teching besides a jab?
nair/uair/even dair? scary =X
and I've been tinkering lately with dthrow->wavedash forwards instead of uthrow at low %'s. that way I can jab ASAP if they don't tech, grab / shffl knee if they do tech, and regrab if they tech a direction
thoughts?
