Calzum=Cheers.

Have added Jolteon and Willz. If you are having problems editing the google map it is because you don't have a google account. Takes seconds to make one. However, once craiigg is finished making the online registration site I will use player's information from that to add everyone myself =)

Yeah it isn't a weekend. If you have work book it of now. I have given 6 months notice =D. As I said, it work outs MUCH better for the cheap ryanair flights. The mid-week flights are always the tax free flights. Which is why tournaments always have housing issues as people want to be housed, for example, Thursday-Tuesday and the tournament is only at the weekend. This way we avoid that issue as much.

Btw I went to the venue today to sort some details out and it was the first time I had seen it in person. It is AWESOME. Easily the best venue I have been to. Also, I checked the attendance limit and we are allowed 200 in the venue....which I think is a success!

Interested. I really like to do sightseeing though, which wouldn't really work out if I'm to come and go on a tight schedule (meaning no housing). Will discuss this with other Dutchies.

EDIT: Seems like Birmingham is quite far from London. >< Not undoable though.

Yeah it's only 2-3 hours on coach (which is really cheap) to London and even less by train.

i'm guessing your traveling via Plane? Did you try Birmingham Airport or East Midlands airport?

Around about an hour by Train, though he will have to be prepared to pay like 3x which IMO isn't worth it

Cheers George. Im going up to the venue in the Easter hols again to pay a deposit if you want to come up and check it out with me =). Be nice to get another opinion on it.

Yeay Marc =D. Very excited to see you post your interest on this thread. I know you will be aware that the UK hasn't hosted a European tournament yet. Im planning to make this a great tournament experience and I think you will be VERY impressed with the venue. Saying that, this can't be truly great without a large Dutch contingent. PLEASE post this on the Dutch forums.

However, reading your post I was a little confused. Birmingham to London is 2.5 hours by car. Coach a little more and train a lot quicker. If you were to go by coach it is VERY cheap, if by train a bit more pricey but if paid in advance do-able.

BUT, I don't understand what you meant by housing issues? Im willing to house people before and after the tournament in Birmingham. Just let me know how long you need it for. In terms of sightseeing Birmingham is the UK's second largest city and therefore has a lot to do there and is a cheap transport hub to anywhere in the UK (very central location).

If you are wanting housing in London before/after the tournament PLEASE just let me know. I posted that the UK community is working together to provide housing anywhere where it is needed in the UK and provide escorts to the tournament. If you were wanting to be housed in London before the tournament for sightseeing then be escorted with UK smashers to the tournament in Birmingham I can arrange that :).

To be honest Marc your best bet would be to get a car full of Dutch to drive to this. The ferry is 60 euros return (though unusual times). That is cheap. The drive from Holland to Calais is 3.5 hours. From Dover to London is 1.5 hours (where we could find you housing). Then you could drive from london to the venue in 2.5 hours (where I could house you before/after tourney if needed). Petrol between five of you would not be much and there is no tolls to pay.

Sorry for long reply Marc but there was nothing in your post that can't be easily worked around ;)

Could Marc, Yeniths or another Mod do me a favour. I have two google maps in the first post on this thread. I want them embedded in the thread so that you can see them without clicking the link. Could you please do this for me?

I might do just that ^^

I'll ask around which dutchies can drive, and post it here, so you know...

AFAIK these players have a drivers license:
-Exalador
-(Prince)Shadow
-Rian

Be careful I put a thread about TSL5 on the dutches board and it seems like they missed it.
It's just that the good players (I assume you're talking about Amsah, Zgetto, Remen, Adam and Faab here) don't really check those boards. Come to think of it, they don't very often check these boards either. I don't know why. Anyway, most other Dutch players saw the thread I think, but they are less interested in travelling abroad (especially when the 'Dutch five' are not going).

Anyway, I'll see if I can make it to this tournament. Depends on the other Dutchies and my financial situation though.

Try target them driving to this tournament and you all getting the ferry together. Seriously, I drove to ZEST and it was VERY easy and VERY cheap (compared to any flights I could find). But seriously also look into renting a mini bus or something. It could work out really well!

Yeah, I really want the 'Dutch five' to make this tournament. The venue, location, cheap flights for most of europe and 200 person limit means this could be HUGE. Im going to be running SNY tournaments every year so this is going to be the start of a long running tournament series. Don't miss the first Utto ;)

Ho, Utto, that's not entirely true. Remen reads like everything on SmashNL. :p He also expressed interest btw, since he's sure not to go to the US. I also don't think Amsah etc not going would really stop most other Dutchies.

@Kone

*Housing will be provided at my home prior to and after the tournament IF NEEDED. I would prefer if people did not and you aim to get to the venue on the Tuesday and leave on the Thursday. These days have been selected as they are the cheap ryanair flight days. If your flights do not work that way you can be housed by me but please try not stay more than two nights either side of the tournament days. My home is located on the travel map found later in the thread.
This suggested to me housing was a bit troublesome.;) If I go to the UK, I definitely want to see London, which is why I brought it up. Thanks for the thorough reply, this seems even more interesting now.:)

Im glad that Remen has expressed interest. Joe has been talking to Amsah and Armada and supposedly they are interested in them coming to this even if they go to Apex. The UK community has also offered to buy their plane tickets home from London if they did that :)

Heh, that was just me trying to minimise the amount of people wanting housing. You know how it is Marc, if I said I could house everyonje for all the time people would book to come for the week. However, I will help out for more than two days either side of the tourney if needed (although two days either side is a looonnggg time ;))

Also, most tournaments have serious housing issues. However, we have the venue for two nights and I can house before and after the tournament in Birmingham (my own home, large). For those wanting London or housing nearer other airports (such as Liverpool/Manchester etc) we can also arrange that. Housing will no be an issue :chuckle:

Is there an update on the sleeping in the venue issue? Ie. Are we allowed to sleep on the floor?
We are allowed 200 during the day in the venue. I have been quoted 80 at night. I am still negotiating allowing us to have more in the venue over night. There are other options though that means either way all will be housed. To be honest the venue is remote and the owners aren't present :lick:. Also, i was more concerned with the number of attendees rather than housing.

Awesome, really glad to hear both of you want to come. Im sure you guys will be able to get to the tournament with a ryanair route. Where are you from? to add yourself to the map you need to make a google account (doesn't take long) and then you can edit the map. Or, post/pm me your post code and I will add you!
PLEASE add yourself to this google map; http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?f=...2.457526,-2.061825&spn=0.007531,0.025663&z=15 .......this is the tournament interest list. If you can't add yourself post your post code or address or pm me it. I want to see this map FULL of pins!

Sweet kone <3

Let's make this the best international european tourney ever. <3
That is what I am aiming for ;). Want this to be the new ROS (but alot better lol).

Oh, I haven't added this into the first post yet;

Local Amenities

*Pub beside the venue. Serves alcohol and food.
*Supermarket closeby.
*Fish and chips shop nearby.
*Chinese restaurant nearby.
*Newsagents nearby.
*and I think there was a pizza takeaway (will check this).

They are all within a five minute walk and you can't get lost.

Also, we will be putting on breakfast at the venue for definite and maybe an evening meal. It depends on if alot of people want this option or prefer to get their own food (our food will be alot cheaper and better for the tournament schedule).

Double post, naughty me :psycho:. Adding to that list you will also be able to play Edwin, Frostbyte and Chrisboi who are top UK players that rarely leave the UK and therefore aren't that well known (but are good) aswell as alot of other UK unknowns!

please people, sleeping is not an issue at all lol. there was just some speculation about the rooms thats been sorted now. We can either get a giant marquee for everyone else or just have more people sleep in the rooms, so theres no problem with housing lol.

As for the dutch top 5 not coming thats not true at all! Amsah himself was expressed interest in coming and the others havent been directed towards this yet >_>.
