I agree that if we are to get another Sonic rep, it's either Tails or Dr. Eggman before anyone else.

Knuckles, Amy and Shadow aren't bad choices either.

but, I am more tempted to defend Eggman's inclusion because of his mech, which would distinguish from other characters with a unique playstyle, and... he's a villain and Smash needs more playable villains.

I've thought about the stages and some of my fav Sonic stages are Star Light, Casino Night, and Ice Cap Zone. I'm more of a classic Sonic fan, but I wouldn't mind seeing a stage from a newer game, if we were to get one. Actually, I'd love to see a stage based on Ice Cap Zone. I was thinking that it would be cool if the stage were to change, a la Castle Siege. The first stage would be fighting atop the snowy land like in Act 2.

Maybe with less hazards.

But then the floor/bridge would break maybe because of Badniks, and you would fight in the ice cavern. Then it would break again and the 3rd stage would be deeper in the cavern. Just an idea.

All right, I guess I'm starting to support Robotnik being a rep even more now because I agree that Smash needs more villains. And I agree that his mechs will make him more interesting. His Final Smash, though, I'm not sure what it could be atm. I'd like something to do with the classic Robotnik, like the Ball & Chain idea. Or maybe transforming into the last robot boss in Death Egg Zone in Sonic & Knuckles. You know, the one with the nose that shots fire. Wouldn't that be funny?

Eggman MUST have the Death Egg Robot as Final Smash if he's playable; no exceptions. It's been revived in Sonic Generations as a boss, and was even modernized in Sonic 4.

Super Sonic is more known than the other transformations, they just need to nerf it because it's a totally OP move in Brawl.

also, I suggest you'd change your sig, it has a humongous image that glitches the forum's interface by not showing the quote button and other buttons. not to mention it becomes annoying when trying to read the posts here without having to scroll like crazy.

Anyone except Eggman is fine with me, Blaze could have an interesting move-set, and should get consideration since she started on a Nintendo platform. I would unquestionably take her over Amy if Sega pushes a female.

I'm actually against the Sonic series getting another playable character in Smash.

Let's say Sega really does agree to allow two playable characters in SSB4, then I hope that the second one comes from another one of Sega's franchises such as: Nights, Shenmue, Alex Kidd, or Jet Set Radio.

that would never happen. Sega knows that Sonic is the name that sells. that's why its called Sonic and the Sega All Stars instead of just Sega All Stars. but overall i find it unlikely for there to ever be another Sega character, whether its Sonic related or not.

I would like Alex Kidd though. i really loved his games on the Genesis.

Silly Rabbit. Nothings impossible if it's profitable. There's a high demand for these characters and it's not exactly bad marketing either because theirs tons of sonic games on Nintendo consoles and the will continue to be more. Now, this is a fighting game for Nintendo characters but a handful of Sonic character against 40 something or so Nintendo characters isn't rockin the boat too much.

Now, as for as what sonic character would make it in is concerned, I think Tails, Shadow, and Knuckles are the only ones with a good chance and I'd say their chances are roughly the same.

Knuckles is my fav so I'm rooting for him. He's popular. He fits perfectly in a fighting game and people want to see him kick ***. Shadow is Very popular. Has rabid fans and a slue of awesome powers. Tails, the most popular character in the Sonic series next to Sonic just because of the sheer amount of face time that he's had.

I think any of these characters would make for great fighters. It just depends on the creativity of the designer.

Tails/Shadow - Both popular, both recognizable. Shadow appeared as an AT in Brawl where Tails did not (I still remember that rumor about Tails flying down to pick up a falling player as an AT, but sadly it was not the case.)

Either way, I think the two of them have the best, and equal chances of being a Sonic rep and Luigified Sonic clone. (Give Shadow a time-slowing Chaos Control as his Bv, give Tails helicopter shenanigans as his B^)

Other choices:

Eggman
Knuckles

I see Eggman as more likely than Knuckles, but he could *also* just be an adventure mode boss. I don't think Knuckles will be in before Shadow or Tails, though.

All this said, Eggman is my favorite pick, because he's a beast.

I have to really disagree on Shadow being a likely candidate, he hasn't had a really major role since Sonic '06, and he's been in the background along with every other character.

Tails on the other hand has actually gotten more important, being the main support in Colors and Generations, and even playable in Coop in Sonic 4 ep. 2. I really think we're seeing SEGA putting the Sonic/Tails duo back on top.

I'm thinking Tails is our definite front-runner. Robotnik/Knuckles being tied for third most likely.

While it's true that Shadow hasn't had as major of a role as Tails as of late (who is definitely working his way back up after he had fallen for so long), to be fair, Shadow DID have a boss role in Generations, so it's not like he has fallen to Knuckles' decline level yet.

Though personally, as a Shadow fan, even I can see that Sega will have difficulty incorporating Shadow in major roles given that the main thing about him, his mysterious past, has been completely wrapped up. Only thing I can see is if Shadow gets his own subseries that focuses on him completing missions for G.U.N. alongside Rouge and Omega, though that seems kind of farfetched.

Well, if there had to be one more Sonic rep and only one, I think it's a toss up between Shadow and Tails. Tails and Shadow are both in about the same area of popularity. As for Tails, where Sonic goes he tends to follow and Shadow is just an awesome character on his own so Idk.

The chances of Knuckles being in the game over the above mentioned is highly unlikely do to Knuckles's decline popularity and usage... but there's nothing wrong with the character. If anything his decline in popularity is due to his decline in usage.

Still If it came to only one more Sonic rep I wouldn't say he had no chance but his chances definitely aren't good. However, if the is a possible 3rd spot, he's so in there. Team Sonic ftw.

Now Eggman I think is a wild card. He certainly isn't winning the popularity contest. If I were a betting man I'd say he would have the smallest chance out of the three, but he's a very important character in the series and with all his crazy gadgets and vehicles, I think from developer's point of view he would be an awesome fun character to make, giving them the freedom to do almost whatever they want with him.

That's just how I call it.
