Coins being used to buy characters would suck and requires little to no skill, but a store to buy costumes, trophiles, pictures, lore, videos, etc would be cool.
killing yourself in a bunch of 1 stock matches to get characters also requires little to no skill, along with most of everything you can do in SSB and SSBM that is 1 player

your point?

Seems like we all agree, which is probably the only time in the history of the boards that we've assimilated a group of people and agreed on something.

Amazing.
That is because I rock. I agree with most of the people ideas above. It would be cool for the shop to be updated online.

That or just setting the time to "Unlimited," keeping the game on overnight as you sleep, and then ending the match when you wake up to see if you've earned anything.

I remembered when I did this, only it was about 10,000 5 stock vs/ matches .

I don't think the shop should be run by a Videogame Character. Instead, it should look like some sort of website, a sort of Amazon.com or EBay or something. Wii Shopping Channel. Using videogame characters is just not Smash. In Smash, every videogame character was either a doll or a trophy. They never really existed in each others worlds.

You forgot costumes :p

I'd say 1-2 costumes for everyone, more depending on if they have other costumes to use. Like, Wario would only get his plumber outfit as an extra costume, because he really doesn't have any more than that.

but Mario could get something like the frog suit AND the hammer bros suit.

Ending your game.
They should have as many costumes as possible, **** it. And not just for the body either, we need another type, like for the head. For example, Mario would have his Dr. Mario headband thing or the hammer bro. helmet and still dress in the opposite colors that I chose. Or for Fox, he could have his sunglasses that make him look like his father James McCloud. The Y button could be used to change the head, and X for the body. People who have a hat that already changes colors along with the costume should alsobe mixable, like Link's (red hat & black tunic, blue hat & red tunic ETC.). Everyone oughta have at least 2 seperate pieces that can be alternate chosen colors. See, people we see on videos and such would be more recognizable, without having the need to ask "Who's that pink Falcon?". The costumes can make you feel more unique as a player since it's less likely that someone copied the colors you chose. Hoo-rah.

I think it should be like this

Way to earn points to buy things:
Damage given + bonuses (like pokemon ko, double ko, smash king, dedicated specialist, etc.) (earnings only count for human controlled characters)

Things that you can buy:
1.Characters
-Only availible for purchase after you complete requirements for unlocking that character
-represented in store buy the shadow of that character and caption "spend points on this to unlock a new challenger!"
-you still must still fight the character & win to unlock them, but if you lose, you don't have to pay again
2. Stages
-Only availible for purchase after you complete requirements for unlocking that stage
-represented in store buy the shadow of the stage and caption "spend points on this to unlock a new stage!"
3. alternate costumes
4. items
5. options (like item select, handicapp, etc.)
6. Trophies
7. modes for "special melee" (will probably be called "special brawl")
8. concept art
9. videos (like "how to play")
10. If they have a character creation mode, they can have purchasable moves/options for that

eeeewwwww why character creation mode??? one person would learn a perfect character (marths fsmash, peachs down smash, sheiks usmash ect...) but the special melee/brawl sounds like a good idea...

I think dark-war-cloud got it nailed down. That's something we can all agree on.

One thing that would be cool to see, is if we merged this idea with the weather idea. You could buy certain stage effects (purely for aesthetic value), and make the matches just that much cooler.

Disappointment, disappointment. I've noticed we've left out one very important and very valuable shop item.

New Tracks: $200

Great Fox Stage: (Wolf's Theme)

How could we have forgotten new tracks?

Edit: On another note, if Starmanclock is still posting regularly, may I suggest updating the front page every now and then to include items and whatnot the consensus of posters here have agreed upon to sell in aforementioned store?

i thought of a coin system thing...
beating adventure mode ect= very easy 10$, easy=20$, normal=30$, hard=40$, very hard=50$
playing vs mode=1$ for each 10 stock lost...
HRC=1 coin per 200 feet (unfair way to get coins if any lower)
multiman melee=10 man melee=1$ for finishing, 100 man melee=5$ for playing, 15 minute melee=300$ for finishing...
target test=3 coins for finishing
i will add more if i think of them so you guys help me out...

I added character creation mode because I was trying to think of as many things as possible to stimulate conversation. I agree that it's not the best idea ever, but you have to agree that it could easily triple the amount of purchaseable item in a store because it isn't restricted to modifying existing characters.

The last part is the only thing I don't like, with the exception of the quote below. If you lose, you should lose your money, too.

No creation mode. Please, for the love of God, no.

A new, unsettling thought just occurred to me. This is probably not going to happen, but if Nintendo did do this online, they could charge us real money for this ****, kinda like how EA is doing things.

I think character creation would work if it was like Soul Calibur III where you choose the appearance and fighting style, but not the individual moves. That way I could make someone who looks like me and use him instead of using characters.

There should be an option to purchase not only extra preset character outfits, but the option to purchase a method to colour your own characters. Having someone else play the same color as you takes away from your identity! You could buy a sort of paint shop and color your characters the way you want to, then they could come with you in the same method you transfer Miis.

Because complete character creation is a pretty lousy idea, sorry, you could at least control the look of your character, making them more personal to you.

Anyways you could make the paint store cost a large amount of money, but the rewards of obtaining it would be amazing.

Edit: Who doesn't want a solid gold Falcon? =D

That, Locke, is a much better idea. Kudos to you.

I want a Ganondorf that's purple/green/black, and I want his sword (assuming they FREAKIN' GIVE HIM ONE, DAMMIT!) to be neon red.

Jeah...you win the internets.

I'll go retro and give Link either his Blue/ Yellow or Red/Purple getup from Link to the past.

And if Sonic is in the game, Ashura is the name.

To this idea..i say....HELL NO!!!!

Why in bloody hell would you want purchased unlockables with prices that are not even reasonable? I have to play Very hard Adventure mode 100 times to get one character!!!
Then after i spend that, another 100 times, the pricing and concept is rediculous due to the fact you would have to purchases characters insted of unlocking them through suprise.

Christ....with prices like that, the shop should be named Saks Fifth Avenue. >,<

I was just wondering why do you all ways try to shoot my ideas down?

PS: You have to unlock them in the store first before you can buy them, and most characters will be unlocked by surprise too.

Eternal, I believe you just described what most people call 'replay value'. It's generally considered a good thing.

And no one said you'd have to play through a 100 times like that (although you were obviously exxagerating). No one said you had to play through Adventure at all. I always assumed that we were just building onto the coin system implemented in Melee.

Besides. With absolutely no reason to believe this will be implimented in Brawl in the first place, let alone with all of our ideas intact, of course our prices are set in stone. Therefore the idea is automatically bad, right?

Geez. It's the idea that matters, not the prices.

I like the idea of certain videos, pictures, costumes etc. being unlockable, but I think it would be better if you were to unlock them like in melee.
But that might be alot of stuff to unlock in different ways, so if not that then a store could definitely work.

Well a store in SSBB would be cool, but not to buy characters (maybe stages but not characters). Anyways I think they should make a store where you can buy different weaps/items for different characters, kinda like Soul Caliber.

For example; Fox obviously isn't using his staff, but what if you could buy it so he could? Or Link should be able to buy different swords (like in Majora how he can get the speacial gold sword, or in OoC where he can get the Goron sword).

Anyways I think that would add A LOT more diversity and a whole new perspective to the game. :chuckle:

I dont like the idea of customizing weapons. should they do this, everyone will choose the weapon with the most range. any lag you get added will be canceled out by l canceling, meaning the disadvantages are so miniscule its not worth noting. (if you dont understand why this is bad, think marth with a larger sword. as though avoiding his combos aren't hard enough, no amout of DI would save you from a 0-death combo now....the game would be really dumbed down should they do something like this IMO)

buying characters I wouldn't mind. I mean it isn't as though you have to work hard to get anything in the game anyways. may as well make it so it takes less time to unlock all the characters.

i didnt mean like that i mean they should have different movesets for different weap and such. Also diferent swords for marth would do different things like one migh be faster while another is stronger, and say one recover % over time.

Good idea.
Wrong idea for this game.

So naaah.. Only if it was like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2's store to buy characters, stages, and new colors, but for weapons like SC? Doesn't work out.
