I love this game. It's one of the best on Game Boy. It's got great music, great characters and a generally brilliant atmosphere. I'd be over the moon to see the Prince in Smash 4. He'd certainly be a unique fighter.

Although, I can't say I'm a huge fan of the idea of him switching forms just for his specials. If he was constantly popping in and out Frog and Snake forms just for attacks it would probably be a bit distracting. I think, considering that the transformations are a key part of the game, they could get away with making him a full transformation character. I've seen movesets for all three forms that I could definitely see in Smash.

Also, Richard or Ore Supply would make great Assist Trophies.

I'm surprised this doesn't have more discussion. I honestly see this guy being one of the most likely newcomers for Smash 4. He has been mentioned by Sakurai by name in interviews before, and I'm pretty sure (don't quote me on this) that he said he'd like for Prince Sable to be in it.

Sakurai tries to keep his bias as low as possible, you know.

I really don't see how Sakurai could justify adding him, but it wouldn't surprise me. I do remember reading something about him mentioning Prince Sable a while back.

Prince Sable should definitely come join the Smash 4 Roster.Like in the posts before, he would represent Gameboy era very well [I watched a few playthrough, and the fact that Sakurai is a big fan of tolls gives me some hope.

I have still yet to see proof of the "Sakurai likes Prince Sable" thing.

Even if Sakurai likes him, he won't be added due to his bias against his favourite characters. :troll:

To be fair, I have nothing against Sable. It's just that BluePikmin keeps using this tidbit as a reason for Sable over Muddy, so I just wanted to see a source.

EDIT:

Sakurai said he was a big fan of For The Frog The Bell Tolls.

Source?

Prince Sable

Special Moves:

Neutral-B:
Dust!: Prince Sable swivels the ground to create dust that stuns opponent for a moment to give priority to do a quick attack. It only last as much as the time Mewtwo used Disable on an opponent.

Side-B:
Whip: Prince Sable turns into a Snake to whip out the opponents straightforward. However, this move does not damage the opponent, but rather make a good knockback far enough to escape from a situation.

Up-B:
Frog Jump: Prince Sable turns into a Frog to jump very high but in a straight vertical way (Just like Luigi’s Super Jump, only higher and a small delay occurs before using). This move does not make knockback, nor does damage anyone. It’s a risky move to use.

Down-B:
En Garde!: Much like Marth’s counter, only it’s a multihitting attack by jamming the special butting to attack more. This move can only be used when Sable is near the opponent(Not Jigglypuff correctly using Rest near, just a little far than that). Oddly enough, this does not create knockback, but it’s worth pummeling out lots of damage out of En Garde!

Smash Attacks:

Side-Smash: Prince Sable turns into Snake form to bite the opponent in great knockback. This attack also stuns the opponent for a short period of time (Referencing how Sable could turn enemies into blocks using Bite) before the knockback begins if you wanna pummel some more.

Up-Smash: Prince Sable turns into Snake form to jump and bite the opponent in the air.
It’s a straight-forward move but powerful in damage and knockback.

Down-Smash: Prince Sable Turns into Snake form to Whip around a circle of knockback. Although not as powerful as the smash attacks, it creates good all around hitbox around Sable for space.

Aerial Attacks:

Neutral-Air: Prince Sable turns into Frog form to scramble attack (much like Luigi’s dash attack) with good knockback at the end. This is good to annoy the opponent, as it fastest to use.

Forward-Air: Prince Sable swings his sword in the air twice for good knockback. Much like Metaknight’s F-Air, only a little slower and better in knockback.

Back-Air: Prince Sable turns into Frog Mode to kick backwards for great knockback. Like Mario’s Back-air, only better in damage and knockback.

Up-Air: Prince Sable turns into Frog Mode to headbutt in the air for good knockback.

D-Air: Prince Sable turns into Frog Mode to kick downwards and (guarenteed) meteor smash. Although it does not do damage and it only can be used when below the opponent, when using D-air when the opponent is on the ground, it pounces the opponent to lie on the ground. This move has very-fast start-up to make up for it.

Standard Attacks:

Neutral Attack: Prince Sable attacks with his Golden Sword to combo into a finishing (Link-Melee-esque) multi-hit jab attack.

Side Attack: Prince Sable swings his sword upward to create knockback vertically. Pretty good move to use if you want be tricky.

Dash Attack: Prince Sable Stabs the opponent similar to one in the final battle. It has great straight forward knockback with great damage.

Down Attack: Prince Sable turns into Snake form to whip out the opponent with slightly good knockback and damage.

Up Attack: Prince Sable turns into Frog Form to spin attack in the (like Olimar’s up attack).

Grabs:
(Prince Sable turns into frog form to capture the opponent with the tongue)

Forward Throw: Prince Sable (In frog form) swings the opponent out in the air forward.

Back Throw: Prince Sable (In frog form) swings the opponent out in the air backwards.

Down Throw: Prince Sable (In frog form) spits out the opponent to the ground to lie the opponent down with good damage.

Up Throw: Prince Sable (In frog form) spits out the opponent in the air and turns into human form to swing his sword in the air for good knockback and damage.

Taunts:

Up Taunt: Prince Sable shows the bag of money (he possibly received back in the end of the game) and drops it (Saying,”Here’s your bet!” in Japanese). The money bag serves as a blocking Sandbag that resists only a few attacks for a short while.

Down Taunt: Prince Sable turns into Snake form and hisses at the opponent.

Side Taunt: Prince Sable turns into Frog form to capture a fly (from the game) with his tongue.

Victory Themes:

Victory 1: Prince Sable turns into frog form and flip bounces around.

Victory 2: Prince Sable plays with his sword and says,”You definitely need some courage” in Japanese.

Victory 3: Prince Sable turns into Snake form and slithers in circles.

Final Smash: Prince Sable creates balls of fire (platform ranged), that if the opponent is surrounded, will be attacked by Sable with the stabs from the final battle, with a powerful stab as the finishing move.

In favor for new OP:
First Appearance: For the Frog the Bell Tolls on the Gameboy in 1992 (Japan only)
Prince Sable is the main protagonist of the game For the Frog the Bell Tolls, who is the prince of the Sabure Kingdom. As he travelled in his quest defeat the powerful King Delarin, he gains powers of transforming into a frog and a snake.
When he transforms into a frog, his jumping ability rises up to a high scale, but his strength becomes to an all-time low. When in Snake form, he damages opponents to their death and has increased speed, but his jumping ability falls off the charts into 1! And as you would expect for a human form, it's the balance between the two form. The transforming aspect can be make him interesting character to play as. If Sakurai were to pick a character from the Gameboy era, Prince Sable would be great choice!
Is he good enough to have a spot in the Smash Bros. Cast? Anyone who played it would remember its satirical and light-hearted moments the game had, exploring the land in a Zelda-esque fashion. In fact, there were some characters from the game that made appearances in the Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and Wario Land 4.
For those people who are curious to try the game now, here is the link to it.

Old Moveset and Music and Stage Options by Aether Ech0s

Moveset Options

This is my personal moveset, although it could go several ways. Alternatively, instead of having separate forms, he could transform only to perform his special moves then return to human form.

-Stats-
(Human Form)
Size: Small
Weight and Knockback Resilience: Light
Jump height: Moderately High
Movement Speed: Moderately Fast
Fall Speed: Moderately Slow
(Frog Form)
Size: Small
Weight and Knockback Resilience: Very Light
Jump Height: High
Movement Speed: Slow
Fall Speed: Slow
(Snake Form)
Size: Smallest
Weight and Knockback Resilience: Light
Jump height: Lowest
Movement Speed: Fast
Fall Speed: Moderately Fast
Normal Moves
No point in going into detail over the normal moves because its all just generic sword slashes or punches anyway. Although the snake form would have to result to tailwhips and bites. Bare in mind that the Frog form has the lowest damage output, the Snake form has the highest and the Human form is a balance between the two.

Special Moves
B - En Garde! - The Prince engages a nearby opponent in battle. Both are surrounded by a puff of dust as the battle ensues out of sight. Both the Prince and the opponent take an amount of damage and the opponent is then knocked away. Pressing A or B repeatedly can lightly increase the damage done, although the opponent can do the same. This is the Prince's most valuable move but it is risky to overuse it as you also receive damage in the process. If you use this move while in Frog or Snake form the Prince will instantly transform back into Human form and use the move.

Side B - Leap Frog - The Prince transforms into his Frog form and hops forward several times, doing more damage and jumping higher with each hop. If the Prince lands on top of an opponent during this move he stomps hard, doing moderate damage while knocking them downwards. If used in the air, the Prince leaps forward once then goes into freefall. If you use this move while in Human or Snake form the Prince will instantly transform into Frog form and use the move.

Down B - Snake Bite - The Prince transforms into his Snake form and bites with poisontipped fangs. Any opponent hit gains a poisoned status and takes damage over time for a few seconds. If you use this move while in Frog or Human form the Prince will instantly transform into Snake form and use the move.

Up B - High Jump/Warp Door - The Prince squats, then leaps upwards. Jump height and damage done to opponent is based on which form the Prince is in. If used in the air, the Prince places the Warp Door and goes inside. A moment later it appears a distance away and he exits. If used near a platform it automatically appears on the edge of the ledge and he exits. The Prince goes into freefall state after using this move.

Final Smash - The Spring Bell tolls - The Prince pulls out a small bell and rings it. Suddenly, hundreds of frogs leap onto the stage and bounce around in a frenzy, hitting all opponents.

Stage Options
Spoiler: Eclair Palace
Music Options
The Prince's Adventure (Overworld Theme):
Theme of King Delarin (Final Boss Theme):
Other than those two, For the Frog the Bell Tolls has has several other background themes that would do well with a modern remix or orchestration.

I really don't see how Sakurai could justify adding him, but it wouldn't surprise me. I do remember reading something about him mentioning Prince Sable a while back.
I think all the justification Sakurai needs is that a character be unique and bring something to the game, which Prince of Sable certainly could. I've also heard on more than one occasion that Sakurai has spoken about him in a Q+A, but evidence or transcripts are pretty hard to track down.

As I recall - and this is all just from memory - Sakurai was asked specifically about including Sable and Richard. His reply was essentially thinking aloud, but he mentioned something about having the characters work together as one a la Ice Climbers. I don't think that's what will happen, if he is ever included, but if this is true then at least it means Sakurai has acknowledged the characters to some extent.

I remember saving a moveset for this guy months ago. It put him forward as a transformation character, which I'm not totally sure about because I'm not keen on characters having more than two forms, but it looked pretty faithful to the game. I'll dig around in my smash folder and upload when I have the chance.

Agreed. Now that you've said that though, I'm thinking the transformation mechanic was pretty much central to the game, so maybe it should be included somehow. I'm still not big on three-character characters but as long as there's nothing like Pokemon Trainer's stamina then it might be OK.

Here's the moveset, anyway. I like the idea of the Warp Door recovery specifically.
