It has it's potential.

It's just because it's generally awkward to use it, even with custom controls, it's aggrivating to use it properly/extensively. Some characters get 'slides' out of their jabs and downsmashes whilst walking, so pivot walking allowing a speed similar to running for some characters is definitely under appreciated.

But yeah... awkward plus looks silly... and I'd say it's the looking silly which throws people off attempting to explore it...

I still say some metagames will adapt to revolve around this once people learn that this can be as fast as their run, without limiting your options and with no chance of tripping.

I personally like the regular pivot boost better, but less characters can perform that.

I use it sometimes in my matches...I'll post some here when they're up if you like. TBH though, it never helps...

Mike Haze uses this after Mk's dthrow to follow up. He also uses it occasionally as Marth.

I saw him, and he did it against me.

For a few matches I saw him use Meta. It was only 2-3 and I don't think they were tourney matches.

But he does it for followups most of the time and tech chasing sometimes.
