Wow, I didn't realize just how crappy my story was. I was so proud of it originally, but that's probably just because I finished something. Pathetic, neh? Ugh, I can't believe I wrote something so udderly craptastic. I think that's the worst thing I've written since middle school. Sorry for inflicting that piece of crap on everyone.

I think the main thing about your story was that it was like sending in a porno as a romance film. It doesn't really work.

Oooohh...... brutal..... that's harsh Evil eye. But meh, you can't win them all. I realise that I probably should have characterized some more. Well, a lot more. But then again, I haven't even learned characterisation (sp?) in school yet. Thus, it's a tad difficult for me. But I will focus on improving on it.

You don't really learn it. In school you only learn how to write AP essays, not stories. At least, that's the way it is in Texas. I don't see why it would be diffrent elsewhere.

Skywalker writes? Wow, I never knew that. I've yet to enter a WWYP contest despite wanting to. When is the next one so I can enter that one?

Edit: I am finally posting my story "Twilight : The Story Behind Ron (An excerpt from a book I made)" which is the story of one of my main characters in a book I wrote recently. I only posted the Intro so far so it is not that engrossing.

Well. . . My AP Composition/English Language class made me read some FIC and NONFIC books from the same author, and when we had to make a presentation on what we learned from that author, we explained some plot stuff like how the Ending never has to be final, it can be open. (we had to present on Joyce Carol Oates. She was like this uber-feminist, and the guys in her short stories always got shot. . .)
My school also has a Creative WRiting class, and these guys from the Pegasus Play Competition came over and taught my class about making a play, like how you can't make your scenes too short in a play, because you'd have to CLOSE the curtain and then OPEN it and REARRANGE the setting and the audience is just SITTING there being BORED, like you are right now, READING this.
So yeah, school CAN teach you how to write stories. Except WWYP probably teaches better.

THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH GUYS! I'll watch out for cliches and plot holes, and I"ll make sure to look aat pokemonmaster's and bluezaft's for the characterizaing stuff.
Geez, with pokemonmaster in the contest, why did I ever hope to be numero uno?

OOH! I got an idea for the next one: how about we write a short, EXTREMELY short story in poem format? So we're putting a story in verse? Except I don't know how committed I would be to that. . .

Abra abra cadabra. I wanna reach out and grab ya!
The funny thing is about all this is my AP English class is learning all about short stories (We've read ten in the last couple of weeks). We even had to write a paper on short stories in general. So, I guess school can teach you something about stories.

In contest related news, I wonder how Scav feels about being the only judge who hasn't finished his scores :) . Oh well, I'm sure he'll be done in the next couple of days.

Man! I really hope I can get at least 3rd place in the next WWYP contest. I really want to be identified as a Smash Writer.

Edit: How do you type words as a link? I want to put the title of my story in my sig as a link but I can only do regular links. I'll +rep the first person to tell me.

Highlight the text you want as a link and click the insert link button, which looks like a chain link on top of a globe.

Scav just got back from Cali a couple days ago. Scav will reveal all in due time. Scav does not forgive; be patient.

*Crosses fingers and hopes that Scav posts his results before I am forced to go over to my loquacious cousin's house*

41 days.

16 short stories.

Some said it was impossible.

Can Scav prove them wrong!?!?

I think it is fate; today I got a chinese fortune cookie that said,

"Beware the fury of the patient man"

So far I have been a patient man...

Maybe you misinterpreted it. Perhaps Scav is the patient man (he could wait forever to finish judging) and he's going to do something furious.

He'll probably just give everyone a zero, and copy/past the same reason for each story.

I'm quite patient. And my comments were made of humor and fury. And oranges. Orange Julius wants to buy the recipe.

Anyways, maybe you just got your fortune late. Though I was good to you, so it doesn't fit that well.

There is the chance it was belated; I found it lying around the kitchen which means it could have been there for a while (knowing my mother). Why must my faith in fortune cookies be shaken so???

...Oh, and thanks Evil Eye :)

Forkgirl seems more anxious about this than the people who actually entered the contest.

Well I saw Scav today and he said he'd be done with the judging "soon." I can understand the delay though--he has a Wii.

When the 360 came out in Australia, stores would stock 30, and only 3 people would turn up and buy one on the day.
