Well, they're technically not infinites.

Eventually it will go from one side of the screen to the other.

As I said, anything that hasn't been a problem before won't be 'considered'.

I'm technically saying that this tournament one should abuse all the bugs and horrible things they can do to be cheap and what have you.
So yeah, be super cheap, be super annoying, abuse infinites, piss off your opponents, etc etc.

Why? because then the counter argument for "it's never been a problem before", won't be valid any longer.

What does this mean? Well as a Marth main, I'll be using the infinite grab release on PK twins. Sorry to all those involved but that's fully within the rules, and I hope enough of a stir occurs to validate a proper rule against it.

Either way grab release on the PKtwins is near guaranteed death anyway. Grab release to 50%, dtilt, fmash tipped. Most likely dead.

I hope people understand what I'm saying here. ABUSE ABUSE ABUSE.

Not sure about a TV, although I do have a tiny/ancient 20cm box that might possibly fit into a suitcase that I can lug around on public transport. Very very VERY unlikely, though. The TV is a surefire NO unless I explicitly say otherwise later on; I'm just putting it out there that it's a possibility.

I'm curiouus, though, about the Meta Knight rule. I don't really play Meta Knight, so I'm not all that familiar with things, but why is the Infinite Dimensional Cape being banned so easily, without even one tourney being held since its discovery to see how it holds up? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that this has not much use outside of stalling, which in itself is already explicitly banned.

Just doesn't make sense to me. Again, I may be wrong about my observation, so I'm curious. Do explain?

Hey guys, unfortunately at this point in time I've decided I won't be going to this tournament. Unless I suddenly randomly decide, 'oh hey I feel like going to the tournament', unfortunately I won't be making it.

Rest assured, if you read a previous post of mine, it has nothing to do with Melee. In fact, it's got something to do with Brawl, and me. Laziness already plays a part of the role in not going, but it's only a minor reason.

Hmm, guess there's some logic behind this.

So after people complain about getting done in by release grabs etc they get banned?

The problem I have with inescapables/infinites is that it takes away the ability of the opponent to influence the match. If there was a possibility of DI to escape I wouldn't have an issue, but so long as the player (in this case marth) doesn't stuff up (which is near impossible), PKTWINS will die. Same with DDD vs DK etc.

Some chaingrabs end at certain percentages, same with combos, but infinites are just stupid. It becomes a matter of the player vs the game, where all they have to do is time their moves (which is not difficult to do), and the other player is taken out of the game. The victim would achieve the same result by putting their controller down. When there is no way the player can influence the game how is it even competitive?

I guess this is really only an issue in a double blind character selection. If there was some warning that your character WILL BE ABUSED before the match, and you have an opportunity to avoid it that would be preferable.

I guess the other side of the coin is that the game is simply broken - deal with it, i just don't think that promotes a competitive environment.

I think that these rules might just discourage people from using PKTWINS or anyone else who gets abused. Hopefully that isn't the case, so that new rules can be implemented preventing these problems. So as you've pointed out, this tournament SHOULD be used as a trial ground to determine a permanent ruleset.

I think this needs a bump, lest there be people in the sydney topic posting about they heard theres a tournament but don't know where the information about it is.

Anyway I'd like to reiterate a few things:
- RAGE
- Security is tight, please don't go wandering or exploring, there is the chance someone will be going "who the hell are you? what the hell are you doing here?" if you do such a thing.
- Anyone who's new or hasn't met me before please introduce yourself on the day.
- Any questions about good transport routes there, don't be afraid to ask...
- Don't play friendlies at all unless I deem its okay, I will not want to DQ or similar people who are holding up the tournament.
- Bring lots of TVs :D YAY.
