Yep, Goku is about to make his debut to brawl, as a kid :D
This topic is mainly for comments, tips, feedback, help with the project and anything else concerning the project.

Also, a moveset has not been made yet, so post any ideas and we'll consider adding it to the official moveset for the project.

Currently, our to-do list consists of:
- Hexing all of goku's animations from the game (Dragonball Revenge of King Piccolo for those who didn't know) in order for them to work in brawl
-Fixing his texture problem (when goku gets hit or uses a roll, his body texture turns black and only his head is normally textured...)
-Properly scaling him to a decent size for brawl (I don't know, he seems a little bit short IMO)

I am a huge fan of Dragonball, so I heavily support this and am willing to do anything within my power to help. Do you guys have a moveset planned yet? Also, about the scaling, maybe try to scale him more closely to Lucas?

Well, if you consider DBZ type of strength, one blast would probably destroy FD or something like that since the DBZ chars are retardedly overpowered XD

Standard special: charge kamehameha (ala samus charge beam)
side special: power pole extend (up to three times it's original size)

down special: spin power pole (ala pit side b but without movemnt)
up special: kamehameha pointed downwards ( like in his match at the budokai tenkaichi so that he won't not touch the ground and not be disqualified) (can also be charged and angled)

I got some of these ideas from remembering stuff in the anime, but the game boy advance game dragonball advanced adventure had very good animations that could be designed possibly from the king piccolo game

Ooohhhh, you've got my attention already! I could see Kid Goku working *very* well in Brawl. DBZ Goku, though? Nah. Too powerful - it'd be like what they did with Superman in "Mortal Kombat vs DC". Good call.

Any progress on the moveset?

I have a suggestion for a final smash, remember the episode where he backwards kamehameha's to jump and then punch through Picolo's body?

Nice idea, but I'm Killing someone like that is not really smash like, I was thinking more goku turning into the ape and smashing everyone

So im guessing you cant use the tenkaichi mdl0s. I like his model in 3 much better but this is eeeeeepic work. Really good work guys.

Yeah I think that's a good idea SW we should use Ness or Ice Climbers. I'll test and see if he works on either of those. We should also try to get the model the right size.

Hmm, I think your right. I still think you should study his tenkaichi moveset though. Especially for deciding a final smash.

and why is the head so different from the body? like the color is really different o.0
ive never played revenge of piccolo so i dont know if its supposed to be that way :p

B Neutral: Kamehameha (Chargable)
B Side: Flying Nimbus
B Down: Power Pole Extend: If in the air, pole strikes downward (spike). If on the ground pole extends forward. Range of other attacks using the pole increases for a short period.

He looks epic. His final smash should either be his Oozaru Punch or him turning into an Oozaru (ape).

This was suggested earlier, and I third it.

My idea is to have it kind of like Marth's, only you can aim the direction it goes in during the zoom-in part of the animation (him charging the Kamehameha to launch himself with), and upon collision with someone they get sent flying.

Great! I'll add you to the team then

And I was planning on having him use his oozaru punch for the Final Smash, and the downwards kamehameha for his upb... and the chargable kamehameha wave sounds nice I think I'll stick with it

I want ot make him a very fast character with good combos that involves the power pole and melee attacks, kind of like dragonball advanced adventure (story mode)

Also, I'm having some problems as of now... I replaced a jumpforward animation but when I try to use it ingame, it freezes (he goes into a t pose and the game freezes, music still plays though) anybody know how to fix this?

I'm not too worried about that as of now... its not possible to implement them yet (well not with the sd card) so I'm focused on working with what I got as of now... but once they do become available, ripping sounds from games and videos is easy... (and just to let you know, I plan on giving him his japanese voice, i MIGHT give him an alternate english voice pack, we'll see later on)

Everyone knows that the ONLY exception when ti comes to Japanese voices being better than most ("Most" you babies in denial, quit crying. :p) English ones is the entire Dragonball series. That means DB through GT.

Oh well, not like we have to use it either. :3

people used to the dubbed dbz series have an affinity for it because funimation basically changed the whole feel of dbz. they changed most of the music to some sort of heavy synth or rock music and changed the voices so that they would be more american-masculine to appear to the testosterone in younger people

dbz is just not the same kind of series in japan as it is in america. though i usually disagree with most of the dubbing done in america, i think the dbz dubbing was pretty good. but tis still important to remember that stand alone, *** dbz has a different (and more original) feel to it than the dubbed. u can certainly prefer the english voices, but remember that they were not included in the package that the directors originally intended. What we are used to is an american manufactured version of the show

About Kid Goku's Moveset, I have some decent ideas...

--A kamehameha fits his neutral B, just give it a long charge period or nerf it so its fair to the other brawl characters.

-- Side B: A power pole sort of combo, like Marth's dancing blade wit different attacks depending on the angles

-- Up B: The Nimbus Cloud! He wouldn't be him without it :p

-- Down B:

-- Final Smash: The Dragon Fist would be awesome here, I just don't know if it would even be possible, but look how far brawl hacking has gotten!

lol sure I guess... I think we're going to need your help anyway since we have to scale him to a suitable size... I'll add you to the team :p

And also, somebody mentioned the difference between his body's texture and his face, thats the problem we have to fix because when goku gets hit or rolls or does some random action, it causes him to have his whole body's texture go black for some reason, and to get it back to normal you gotta charge a downsmash or some other smash, but it stays kinda dark, resulting in the difference you can see from the screenshots... if anybody knows how to fix this, please let us know

oh god no.... whoever wants the english voice for kid goku is .... let's just say... not believable

DBZ is voiced superb in the US, but DB is the horror... I was once in the US and I saw a clip of DB on TV.... the horror

it goes this way:
DB german is the best
DBZ english is the best (DBZ sucks in german)
GT japanese is the best


but stop offtopic

we need his paper scissors stone attack either as his side B or as a three time smash forward (like how it is with link, who had two consecutive attacks as his smash)

but side B riding on jin du jun also sounds great... could also be a very good second rescue jump (only reduce it for a two second use in air and only have it flying horizontal. otherwise it would be too powerful)

and maybe one funny animation could be his airdodge
remember his fight in the second great tournament? he was fighting against King Chappa, and when he through goku in the air to punch him in the fac, goku inhaled so much air, that he shortly stopped falling (which would be called a melee airdodge nowadays) this would be awesome as some kind of specialty to kid goku.
it's like peach floating in the air by pressing the jump button in the air. It would only stop him for like a few frames from falling but it would have awesome mindgame potential... if you understand what I mean

and for the final smash: definatly the giant ape. If possible take the paluthena effect from pit and let a full moon appear, then let goku stare on it and let him change. if possible. looking at the background has also the positive effect that the player cannot see his face, so it doesn't matter that he always looks so angry. Only problem would be, that he should be naked when he turns back, because his clothes get destroyed by this procedure...

did I already tell that me and my brother are like the most wisdom DB/DBZ nerds around... yeah we are also.... kinda... proud... of it

And who else thinks that the tail should be used for tilts and arials, the nimbus for specials, kamehameha for neutral special (of course), and maybe the power pole for some arials as well. Turn him into a giant monkey for the final smash. If it's possible, of course.
