Just gotta say..

this year's WGF was pretty amazingly run, with so many improvements from last year. I was extremely impressed, you guys did a fANTASTIC job.

but I also think 1) I could be better vs Falco 2) I'd put up a substantially better fight if I didn't have to play both games I think it makes me suck a lot worse than I'd be otherwise

but there's nothin I can do about that

I don't have the passion I once used to (cept I like teams) and there's no way I'm quitting Brawl so it's kinda depressing but oh well I guess *shrug*

unfortunately Brawl GF weren't recorded, but I beat Larry 3-0. I didn't play gay in any of the games, and they were all last stock 90% all on Battlefield and lasted about 3 minutes per game or so iirc. I also beat Fow 3-0 in WF after he 3-0d Rich brown

Even though you aren't at the top of your game, you're still pleasing your fans by doing what you can and putting on a good show. I hope you continue playing Melee bro :')

MacD beat DrPP in a friendly they played at Winterfest

I think he's not great vs Peach

but I think when he learns that Peach can't chase falco and Falco can run away on platforms with Dairs all game and just do safe things

that might change

idk if i'd beat rich brown but I was beating him most of the friendlies even though they went back and forth. Got two 2-stock-low-%s and then lost 2 close ones and won the 5th *then 3 stocked him in mk ditto) but it was just friendlies so it doesn't count for too much, but I beat the people that beat him by convincing amount. I mean don't get me wrong he's very good and definitely a tourney threat to me and can probably beat me. Lots of people can probably beat me. but to say they are better than me overall after everything I've done esp. in the past 12 months is actually insulting at this point. I'm sure Hbox feels the same when people say ___ is better than him after he's done well for so often and then loses once or twice and then suddenly he's worse or something. Matchups matter too. I suck *** vs Falco compared to a lot of other top players. Like Amsah is way better at the Sheik vs Falco MU than me by far. but I'm much stronger vs Fox. Depends who encounters who and how each person is playing. I think overall at my prime I might be 2nd best at Melee to Mango (OVERALL SKILL cuz I play tons of chars at a top level instead of just being a specialist) but as a tourney threat right now in todays metagame I doubt I'd be top 5 anymore it's just too rough to play both games. DrPP Armada and Hbox are clearly bigger tourney threats right now, and I think Mango has the most overall skill at Melee. My reign for that game is long over sadly. I lost the faith in myself that I had before

Then I 3 stocked him on better stages. Stages matter a lot for me vs Peach but I can make that work for me with the striking system imo. Plus I have time to work on it before Pound so yeah.

I still have more proving to do I suppose. Oh well.....

the thing about peach is she can't chase people. She can only counterattack in close-combat. her chasing relies entirely on knowing exactly where you're going to be. She can't even Nair you in the air if you just stay above her with Dairs. But every falco wants to do Laser -> aerial vs her and she can deal with that pretty good

Yeah I definitely need work vs Peach and will try to work on it I suppose before Pound.

Dr peepee just a randomish question

I started most of my competitive play on the West Coast where there are basically crazy players in every district. Is NC/the surround region like that also? Just trying to see if California is a more concentrated area of high level play or not.

btw I used to live in Chapel Hill, NC. Would not wanna go to school when Duke lost a game to UNC

Cali definitely has the greatest concentration of high level players in my opinion. NC doesn't really have much in that way and CERTAINLY not close to me(I live 2.5-3.5 hours from most people and the average local tournament but stuff is being hosted about an hour+ away now so that's nice).

VA(Tope, etc) is above(north of) NC and they come down once in a while which is good competition, and GA(Mike G, XIF if he counts for GA, Druggedfox, Fullmetal, SleepyK are the main ones that travel I believe) also borders us and we seem those guys the same amount, probably once every month/every other month maybe?

Either way, none of that holds a candle to the scores of talented players in a given area of California. I've talked to a few WC players about where they are and how far they are from other good players and I'm always surprised by how good they have it lol.


PS: If you're a cali player and I got you/the state all wrong, then my bad but it really seems that way from who I've talked to and who I've played.

Edit: Basically there are talented players in neighboring states that are several hours away and then I can have decentish competition by going 3+ hours in my state for a few people(but usually tournament in that time range as well).

Also, Duke is close to a lot of people lol that'd work out well for anyone that went there. XD

This is just coming from a bad random, but M2K, you're awesome to watch in Melee, and you're one of the players that I really look forward to watching because I know that I'll get to see some amazing play. I know tons of people probably tell you this, but if you're getting depressed, you should probably sacrifice something if that'll make you happier. Of course, fans in whatever game you may end up sacrificing will be disappointed, including me, You definitely left an impression on the Melee scene as one of the most awesome and powerful players.

I just hope that if you do leave, you don't leave depressed or anything because you totally rocked the Melee world.

Its still not the same. That's why I asked PeePee how far he had to drive/travel to get to good competition. Here in San Diego for example, if I drive ~1 hour I get to Irvine: Zhu, Fly, Macd. Drive one more hour and I reach Mango's area. There are also many people in between both ranked and non ranked which makes California (especially SoCal in this case) have a higher concentration of high level players.

I'm not exactly sure what's being done with the brawl vids, I think FlameWaveK has the ones that were recorded. As far as the melee vids go, they're split between Stab and Taco (UCSD smasher) and should be uploaded to youtube sometime soon.
