I wasn't talking ****. I personally don't give a **** I'm not placing top 5 anyway
but I'm just saying a lot of people would be pissed by what you said, you said it in a pretty poor manner. why not just say "smash players expect the TOs to cater to the average player more than other fighters"?
That way you state your point without being condescending.
also, comparing melee to brawl's debate over ike=fail lol
edit-lmao the only thing I'd trust that is "wayne approved" is the quality of a bakery's bread if ya know what i'm saying
Nobody that knows Webster took it that way. Nobody. Sorry man, you're pretty much the only one here that thinks that. Thanks for voicing your opinion though (no sarcasm intended)

Nope, no marvel at this tournament (unless played casually). TvC: U.A.S is scheduled to be the ABSOLUTE FINAL game added to this tournament's game roster (and will be played on Sunday at this tournament if ran). Pending if it's released on time and if there isn't anything rediculously ******** broken found out immediately after it's release.

lol I seriously doubt you'd win Marvel Kenni. But if you'd like to play, maybe I can set up some casuals at the tournament.

Akashi: the **** are terrible in Marvel. It's one of the few fighting games where Americans are gdlk. Marvel combos are insane hard to do. Yes you can infinite (0-death), but it's sooo situational it's not even funny.

Marvel is truly one of the most technical (thank you tapion for helping me understand this definition of this EPIC WORD) fighting games in the entire world.

Edit: LMFAO akashi I must have misread what u meant in your post. My bad. ;) But what I posted above, is still very true. :bee:

TvC: U.A.S - I'ma try it folks, so should you!!!

I never understood how 2d fighters like the Marvel games can be more technical than Smash, but everyone always says they are. Maybe its my lack of experience with them? :dizzy:

Not gonna lie:

It's definitely the inexperience with the game. Non marvel players couldn't begin to understand the technicality of the game. Vs. games in general are seriously tough to play.

As far as "playing the game" and how it's "technical" , I'd like to quote Tapion:

- technical is the required finger speed and difficulty of consistency required to reach the metagame of a video game (webster edit: moreso in fighting games I think)

- a game is more technical if the required finger speed and difficulty of consistency is much more necessary

- which MvC2 clearly is...
Executuion in MvC2 is ********. AND I MEAN ******** AMAZING!!! And the fact that you have to keep up with it at 200 times the speed of Melee, is a complete mind****. Not to mention the mindgames you have to endure or present during it all; with assist, footsies, and etc.

Everyone thinks it's all about doing brain dead combos/infinites. Although they are available:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAE781xmHLc (as seen here)

and definitely here...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0pxQHfQNxE :bee:

They are completely situational. As I said earlier.

I always encourage folks to try out fighting games they don't "understand". You never know, u might actually want to get involved with the competitive scene. And/or play it more often casually.

fasho, mvc2 is definitely more technical than smash, but most of the street fighters and capcom games are more technical by default, just because of the motion and button inputs. sf3 is a good example of that. it seems easy, but the frame data, timing, and inputs make it hard.

that said, marvel vs capcom and smash(at least melee) might be the two least comparable fighting games out there lol. i mean, how does smash stage selection compare to selecting three fcuking characters per player? how do you compare a drop zone knee to a 50 hit combo? you can't

the biggest difference is that with smash you can win games, even tournaments, by not getting hit. spacing is incredibly important. in mvc2 and most street fighters, you have to win either by beating down your opponent first, or surviving getting hit the longest

uhh, spacing is incredibly important in fgs too. It's not a smash exclusive thing nor is it more important in smash than it is in other fgs.

no freaking way. there is just too much space on the stage and between characters in smash. i don't play brawl, so compare trying to catch a fast mofo fox on dreamland as jigglypuff or peach, as the fox lasers you, from above and below platforms....to anything that mvc requires. then throw in that you can hit someone from any direction in smash. spacing in smash is way more important cuz there's more room, more directions, more angles, and only certain projectiles cover the entire stage.

i will DEFINITELY bring my dreamcast if ppl wanna play marvel. its like, my fav. game right now to be honest. I have 2 converters for ps/ps2 controllers and sticks and a custom music/color mix so 360/ps3 marvel cant even compare.

but yeah you have to spend a significant amount of time in training mode to be competent in marvel. like if you play MSP (magneto/storm/psylocke, not necessarily the best but one the most popular teams) you have to know how to set up mags ROM infinite, 5 feirce, hypergrav into tempest, and other high damaging combos and the mixups into those because if you dont your magneto gets fcuked up quick. but if you do you are rewarded very well. its kinda like doc vs spacies in melee, except doc isnt top tier. you have to learn with doc how to maximize the most out of every situation or else you arent going to be a threat at all and theyll just run all over you. you also have to learn how to get in. especially on characters like sent and cable. blackheart and spiral are also gay with their zoning. and you have to have fast reaction time to punish and hit confirm. and also you have to LEARN HOW TO BLOCK, which at times is your only option and gets very hard when someones going for a reset or mixing you up..

I think out of all the games ive ever played, marvel definitely demands the most out of you as a player. you gotta do WORK.

i agree and dissagree with ray =P....only on that, spacing is very important in the street fighter games, but melee does have a bigger degree to which is matters imo.

i dont see how you can really compare a percent game, where you dont die at any given percent/can get gimped/suicide, with any other fighter....smash is an enigma.
